Single Pole-double Throw Patents (Class 200/225)
  • Patent number: 9404454
Abstract: A fuel vapor separator assembly including a housing having an open interior and a float disposed therein. At least one magnet is disposed on the float, and a sensor assembly which is responsive to magnetic fields is disposed externally of the housing. The sensor assembly senses the position of the float to determine whether vapor is present in the fuel vapor separator. If the sensor assembly determines that vapor is present in the fuel vapor separator, then it generates a signal, which a controller receives and activates a vapor vent valve to discharge the vapor and/or activates a fuel lift pump to pump additional fuel into the fuel vapor separator. The sensor assembly could be, for example, a Hall effect sensor or a reed-type sensor.

  • Patent number: 9190229
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a device and technique for an impact switch is disclosed. The impact switch includes a first member having a reservoir for holding a conductive fluid and a second member having a first conductive portion disconnected from a second conductive portion. The second member is coupled to the first member over the reservoir. Responsive to receiving a predetermined level of impact, the conductive fluid moves from the reservoir to an interface between the first and second members to conductively connect the first conductive portion with the second conductive portion.

  • Patent number: 4441014
Abstract: A temperature-adjustable electric soldering iron manipulable with a single hand to change the temperature of the iron comprises a handle, a circuit board, a Nichrome tip heating wire, a cover for the wire and a soldering tip. On the circuit board are two mercury switches, a diode, and five resistances, connected in a manner to provide four circuits connected with the Nichrome wire so that the tip can be heated to four different temperatures dependent upon which circuit is connected in series with the Nichrome wire. The circuit board is placed inside the handle and the mercury switches are arranged so that holding the handle in a completely horizontal position shuts off the electric circuit, but tilting it forward or backward, or turning it around to the left or to the right actuates the mercury switches by means of the function of the mercury drop which connects respective circuit contacts at either end of the switches to place a different one of the four circuits in series with the Nichrome wire.

  • Patent number: 4135067
Abstract: An omnidirectional tilt switch includes an enclosure for a gravity response conductive ball. An annular shelf surrounds a central depression where at least one switch contact passing into the housing is exposed. The shelf is operable to support the ball in a position resting against a cup-shaped portion of the switch housing, with the ball centroid located within a imaginary right cylinder having the inner shelf periphery as a base. In response to tilting of the switch, the ball is movable away from the cup-shaped housing to the depression where it engages the aforementioned contact and closes a circuit between that and another contact.A switch holder mounts the switch on a substrate located, for example, in an electro-optical display-type watch. The holder includes a base with a positioning edge or surface and tabs for securing the base to the substrate. Remote from the positioning edge or surface, the switch is supported at an angle relative to the positioning edge or surface.

  • Patent number: 3973092
Abstract: Acceleration sensing apparatus comprises a casing having a pair of substantially perpendicular passages communicating with each other and accommodating spaced apart, normally open electrical contacts. One of the passages contains mercury which is operable to flow into the other passage in response to predetermined acceleration of the casing and bridge the conductors so as to establish a current path therebetween.
