Publication number: 20100282579Abstract: At least one electrical contactor is provided that includes a fixed contact and a movable contact. The fixed contact includes a center leg and first and second arms that extend in opposite directions from the center leg. The movable contact associated with each fixed contact includes first and second blades positioned on opposite sides of the center leg. The first and second blades extend parallel to the center leg of the fixed contact such that when current flows through the electrical contactor, the current flow creates a force to push the first and second blades into the first and second arms of the fixed contact. The electrical contactor includes an actuating arrangement having a pair of cam members. The movement of the cam members causes pegs on each of the first and second blades to travel within the cam channel, thus opening and closing the contactor arrangement.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2009Publication date: November 11, 2010Applicant: M&FC HOLDING, LLCInventors: Michael R. Patent number: 4922068Abstract: An electrical switch assembly is made with a braided electrical conductor having a densified end which has reduced porosity from the braided wire. Preferably, the densified end is formed by squeezing copper wires with a solder matrix to reduce the air in the densified end so that it has over 95% solids. A solder layer is formed between the densified end and the switch element, preferably by using a foil of silver braze which is melted between the densified end and the switch element. In the preferred method of forming the densified end, the solder and copper are heated and squeezed at pressures in the range of 500-750 pounds under a liquid blanket of material to limit copper oxidation.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1988Date of Patent: May 1, 1990Inventor: Edmund R. Patent number: 4683358Abstract: A contact arrangement for a relay having a high breaking current capacity. A contact spring is split in fork-like fashion so as to form two fork ends at its free end. The contact spring is opposite two cooperating contact elements in the form of a double contact or two contacts to be bridged. The two fork ends of the contact spring are directly connected to one another via a welded on contact strip. A stranded conductor is welded directly to a freely accessible center portion of the contact strip between the two fork ends. Thus, the two contacting locations of the contact spring are connected to one another or to a power terminal in a low-loss fashion without employing an expensive central contact spring having good conductivity. Rather, a spring steel having a relatively poor conductivity may be employed.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1986Date of Patent: July 28, 1987Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Michael Dittmann
