Abstract: The fuse bypass jumper of the present invention bridges the upper and lower fuse terminals of a high-voltage transmission line cut-out box so as to bypass the fuse element. The jumper comprises lateral upper and lower arms connected by a longitudinal jumper bar. The jumper arms and bar are made of a heavy gauge conductor rated for at least 100 Amps. With the jumper in place, the fuse element can be opened, removed and/or replaced without interrupting the transmission line circuit through the cut-off box, since the jumper now provides a bypass around the fuse. Since the bypass conductive path constitutes a heavy gauge, high-amperage bar conductor, this jumper can carry a much larger current load than flexible wire-based jumpers.

Abstract: A housing having activated structure by remotely activates an embedded switch. The case includes a front panel having an inner and outer surface, an operation button, a first elastic member, a latch member having a lead-in portion at one end and an activating portion at the other end, and a lever. The operation button is arranged on the outer face and contacts the lead-in portion. The lever pivotally connects the front panel and selectively contacts the latch member and the switch. When the operation button is pressed, the first elastic member is compressed and the lead-in portion shifts accordingly. The activating portion further applies a force to the lever which then tilts toward the switch, allowing activation. When the first elastic member decompresses, a force applies to the latch member and the latch member returns to the original position.

Abstract: A molded case circuit breaker has a moving conductor assembly which includes a modular carrier assembly incorporating a plurality of spring biased contact cam members each of which engages contact pressure lobes on a pair of contact arm laminations to provide contact pressure. In response to the magnetic repulsion forces generated by a short circuit, the springs compress allowing the cam members to pivot and side step the contact pressure lobes so that the contact arm blows-open with little resistance. The cam members and springs are preassembled in a transverse channel in the carrier body and laterally retained in place by side plates for easier pivotal attachment of the contact arm laminations to the lobes on the side plates. The side plate lobes raise the contact arm relative to the mass of the carrier to reduce eddy current heating and provide a positive off indication for welded contacts by restricting movement of lower toggle links of the operating mechanism which are coplanar with the side plates.

Sensor means are positioned within the piece of domestic electrical apparatus adjacent any exposed electrical components and control means for detecting a path of conduction between the sensor means and those exposed electrical components. Magnetically controlled release means including a permanent magnet and an electrically induced magnetic field in opposition thereto, preferably a DC motor provides movement when energized by the control means when the latter detect a path of conduction.

  • Patent number: 4849584
Abstract: A high-voltage switching device is provided having an insulating base member mounted to a panel such that a wiper arm assembly of the switching device is accessible from the front of the panel for pivoting a switching member between open and closed positions. Preferably, the switching member is a conductive rod having a portion coiled about a primary terminal assembly of the switch such that a first end of the conductive rod may be pivoted about the axis of the coiled portion between the open and closed positions. Although the switch is intended for high-voltage applications, the conductive rod is of sufficiently small gauge so as to allow for the manual pivoting of the rod without the need of leveraging linkages. The insulating base member of the switching device provides effective electronic isolation of the terminal assemblies and the conductive rod from one another and from the ambient environment of the switch such that a protective insulating housing is unnecessary.

Abstract: For cocking an energy accumulator, an actuating device comprises a ratchet wheel with teeth as well as a reciprocating transport ratchet. For maintaining the cocked position of the energy accumulator, a cam wheel and blocking lever which can be braced against a blocking member via a ratchet lever are provided. Due to a wedge-like cooperation between a working surface of the cam wheel and a projection of the blocking lever, the blocking lever is transferred from its rest position into a blocked position if the deadcenter position of the cam wheel is exceeded. In the process, the transport ratchet is lifted from the teeth of the ratchet wheel by means of a striking surface of the blocking lever.

On rotation of the rotary switch 1, said contact bridge 48 connects and/or disconnects at least two conducting paths of the printed circuit. Shaped at the switch wheel 4 is a pivot pin 17 which penetrates the circuit plate 7 and which is secured by a base member 5 to the circuit plate 7 on the said's bottom side opposite to the printed circuit. The switch wheel 4 includes catch-type recesses 42, with a resilient switching element 32 engaging into each one recess depending on the position of rotation of the switch wheel 4. The base member 5 urges via the switch wheel 4 the contact lugs 48 resiliently against the circuit plate 7, additionally forms the catch-type element 40 and simultaneously couples the switch wheel 4 and the circuit plate 7.

Abstract: A stored-energy switch operating mechanism is provided that includes a charging arrangement that reduces the peak forces required during the charging of the operating mechanism to store operating energy. The charging arrangement is responsive to a unidirectional input to accomplish the charging of the operating mechanism. In an illustrative arrangement, the operating mechanism includes a closing spring and an opening spring. During charging, the springs are sequentially charged prior to any switch-closing or switch-opening operation. The operating mechanism does not require the detachment of any components during either charging or switch operation. The charging arrangement, in an illustrative embodiment, is responsive to a unidirectional rotary input to a charging crank to sequentially drive a charging element in a first direction and then in a second, opposite direction. In the first direction, a first of the springs is charged and latched. In the second direction, the second spring is charged and latched.
