  • Publication number: 20080230360
Abstract: A rocking switch unit includes a base section, a switch knob, a pair of tactile switches, a middle rocking section, and a pair of switch-pressing portions. The switch knob and the middle rocking section are coupled with the base section to be rockable. The switch-pressing portions are located between a pair of rocking end portions of the switch knob and the tactile switches, for transmitting a pressing force from one of the rocking end portions to a corresponding tactile switch when the one of the rocking end portions is pressed in a pressing direction. The switch-pressing portions are coupled with two end portions of the middle rocking section in such a manner that a coupling angle between a rocking surface of the middle rocking section and rocking surfaces of the switch-pressing portions is variable in a pressing direction.

The switch includes an electrically conductive movable contact member that selectively engages conductive members to provide the different electrical states of the switch. The movable contact member also engages a detent structure and forms a three-position detent tending to retain the switch member in the selected position. Abstract: There is disclosed a paddle switch operated by pushing on the lower portion of a rocker paddle to turn the switch “on” or “off”. The lower edge of the paddle pivots in and out about its upper edge. The switch includes semi-rigid spiral wound driver means having a conical end coupled to be driven by the rocker paddle. When the rocker paddle is pushed in, the paddle urges the semi-rigid driver means to rotate a cam means in a first, clock wise direction, or a second, counter clock wise direction. Alternate rotation of the cam drives a slider member having a cam follower back and forth along a linear axis. A shaped leaf spring cooperates with the cam follower to assist in the movement of the slider and determines its rest positions. An indicator such as an LED is used to indicate the state of conduction of the switch. When the rocker paddle is released, it is biased by a spring to pivot back to its initial position.

Abstract: An electric operating part assembly has a switching mat and switching mat domes which are arranged therein and which can be operated by the effect of a vertical force. The operating part has at least one pull rocker which, in its longitudinal course, is arranged parallel to the surface of the switching mat. When the pull rocker is operated, a switching arm of the pull rocker situated opposite the operating arm will move a ram arranged between the switching arm and the switching mat dome, for operating the switching mat dome, in the direction of the switching mat dome.

Abstract: An electrical wiring device configured to be disposed in an electrical distribution system including a power source for providing power to a load, including a compact switch assembly. The compact switch assembly includes a rocker assembly, a fixed contact assembly and a moveable contact assembly. By design and interaction between surfaces of the rocker assembly and the moveable contact assembly, permanent switch contact closure due to contact arc welding is avoided. A pivot member including a (moveable) contact is opened to a first contact separation distance within a given time and then to a second contact separation distance via user supplied force to a user accessible surface.

  • Patent number: 7126070
Abstract: There is disclosed a paddle switch operated by pushing on the lower portion of a rocker paddle to turn the switch “on” or “off”. The lower edge of the paddle pivots in and out about its upper edge. The switch includes flexible driver means coupled to be driven by the rocker paddle. When the rocker paddle is pushed in, it urges the flexible driver means to rotate a cam means in a first, clock wise direction, or a second, counter clock wise direction.

Abstract: A switch device includes a switch housing having an operation member receiving part and an operation member which is mounted on the operation member receiving part of the switch housing as the main components. The switch housing has a regulation wall between an engaged region and a predetermined region X where a front end of the operation member is brought into contact with the switch housing by a seesaw operation of the operation member. The regulation wall is positioned such that the regulation wall facingly contacts an extension part of the operation member in a state in which the extension part of the operation member is in contact with the top surface (predetermined region X) of the switch housing, and the regulation wall does not facingly contact the extension part of the operation member when the operation member is mounted on the switch housing.

Abstract: An actuator assembly is for a short-depth rocker switch including a housing having an opening, a cavity, a base, and a first depth between the opening and base. The actuator assembly includes an operating member having a first end disposed proximate the opening, and a second end extending into the cavity, and, an over-center mechanism disposed proximate the first end of the operating member, distal from the second end of the operating member. The over-center mechanism comprises a one or two-piece shaped element which defines a plurality of operating characteristics of the operating member, and which has a second depth which is less than about 25 percent of the first depth of the housing. This enables the overall depth of the rocker switch to be relatively short in comparison to known designs. A sensor for detecting the position of the second end of the operating member is also disclosed.
