Contact Pivot Point Is Moved To Cause Snap Patents (Class 200/463)
  • Patent number: 10319548
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for an electrical switch including: an enclosure; a hinged armature disposed within the enclosure; a moveable contact electrically coupled to the hinged armature and disposed substantially parallel to the hinged armature; and a rib positioned between the hinged armature and an outer edge of the electrical switch, where the rib transfers external forces applied to the electrical switch to the enclosure by limiting movement of the hinged armature towards an outer edge of the electrical switch.

  • Patent number: 9275811
Abstract: A switching unit includes a pawl and a pawl spring, embodied such that, when a switching lever of the switching unit is moved from an ON position into a TRIP position and/or from the TRIP position into a RESET position, the pawl spring is bent by contact with a lateral face of the pawl. An electrical switching device, such as a circuit breaker, including at least one such switching unit is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7205496
Abstract: The invention relates to a sub-miniature switch including a housing, an actuator and terminals. The actuator protrudes from the housing at a position offset from the center of the housing. The terminals are electrically conductively coupled with fixed contacts (positioned within the housing). A contact maker is moved via the actuator and held in a first or second switching position by means of a bistable spring arrangement. An additional component, a separator or auxiliary actuator, is in snap-fit engagement with or clamped or glued in the cover of the housing and is pushed through by the actuator as the switch is operated. According to the present invention, the contact point of the fixed contacts is on a side of the housing which is opposite the actuator. The separator or auxiliary actuator is moved in the direction of the contact position by the actuator. Thus a structurally simple forced-opening capability is provided for the sub-miniature switch.

  • Patent number: 6768072
Abstract: A multi-directional switch grip includes an insulating body, a lamp socket and an insulating disc positioned between the insulating body and the lamp socket. A pair of terminals, an intermediate contact member and a rotating member with a ratchet respectively on two sides is fixed in the insulating body. A conductive member fits around a large ratchet and has half numbers of contact pieces as that of the large ratchet. One of the terminals and the intermediate contact member contact the teeth of the large ratchet in a turned off condition, or contact the contact pieces in a turned-on condition. A switch grip is provided to be pulled or bent in any direction to move a hooking member, which moves and rotates the large ratchet for a set angle to turn on the switch and the switch is turned off by repeating the same action.

  • Patent number: 5016140
Abstract: For the purpose of mounting a switch on a circuit board and of actuating the switch, it is proposed that the biassing spring biassing the wiper into a first above dead-center position be pivoted at the same main mounting part on which the wiper is supported, that a rod be arranged to pass through the circuit board in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the wiper movement, and that the rod be seated in such a manner that it comes to bear upon the central area of the biassing spring so as to displace the latter relative to the pivot point of the spring on the wiper in such a manner that the wiper is moved into a second switching position for the time during which such action persists.

  • Patent number: 4853506
Abstract: First and second contact bars are spaced apart in fixed positions. A pressure responsive ram has first and second positions of penetration into a casing which contains the bars and other elements. A bolt is disposed between the ram and a first element which is pivotable about the second bar between a first position and a second position. A second elemtn is coupled to the first element. When the ram is in its first position, the bolt places the first element in the first position causing the second element to establish a current carrying path between the bars. When the ram is in its second position, the bolt places the first element in the second position, causing the second element to break the current path. A device disposed between the belt and the ram exerts a biasing pressure on one end of the ram which maintains the ram in its first position. When a larger pressure is exerted on the other end of the ram, the ram is moved into the second position.
