  • Patent number: 11557443
Abstract: A coupler between an activator mounted on an enclosure and an electronic protection device located within the enclosure facilitates alignment between the coupler and the electronic protection device during installation and requires no tool for installation. The coupler is positioned over an opening in the electronic protection device and oriented such that a first coupling portion is configured to engage a complementary coupling portion on the electronic protection device. The coupler may be manually mounted, engaging the complementary coupling portions on the door handle coupler and the electronic protection device without requiring a tool for installation. The coupler includes an upper sleeve configured to receive an axle, connected to the activator, that rotates independently of a lower sleeve which is mounted to the electronic protection device, facilitating orientation of the activator on the outside of the enclosure. The coupler provides for local lock-out of the electronic protection device.

  • Patent number: 8908357
Abstract: An actuator system for operating a switch is described herein. The actuator system can include a shaft of a handle assembly. The shaft couples to a handle and a male coupling element and has a number of positions. Further, a coupling body of a switch assembly can be positioned in the number of positions. The coupling body engages the switch and has a female coupling element, which has a slotted portion that receives the male coupling element and an angled terminus that aligns the shaft to a first position as the shaft couples to the coupling body. The slotted portion receives and engages the male coupling element when the shaft is coupled to the coupling body. The slotted portion prevents the male coupling element from disengaging when the coupling body is in a second position, and disengages the male coupling element when the coupling body is in the first position.

  • Patent number: 8804372
Abstract: An improved electrical disconnect apparatus includes a set of spaced apart conductors and a removable conductive element that is structured to extend between the conductors and to complete at least a portion of an electrical circuit that includes the conductors. The electrical disconnect apparatus is situated between an electrical network and a network protector. The conductors and the conductive element which extends therebetween are situated within the interior of a support that is sealed in order to permit the electrical disconnect apparatus to be in a submerged environment during use. The conductive element is retained by a key interlock wherein the key that enables removal of the conductive element is stored on the network protector and is only made available to the technician when the network protector has been switched to an OFF condition.

  • Patent number: 7315006
Abstract: A ball ratchet mechanism suitable for use with an electrical disconnect employs a track and drive surface that engage the ball so as to capture it without significant shear force being applied to ridges of the track. In this way, the shape of the track can be optimized for smooth ratcheting action without the risk of high torques shearing track ridges.

  • Patent number: 7223929
Abstract: The present invention concerns a shutoff apparatus that can be controlled In either front or side mode, consisting of a minimum number of parts and resulting in a simple, economical, mechanically dependable, and compact unit. The shutoff apparatus (1) includes a rotating control element (20) in the shape a star with four branches (22), provided with a profiled extremity (25) and connected to the control rod (5) oriented toward one of the other of the two control axes (A, B) corresponding to front and lateral control modes, respectively. The present invention has a transmission element (30) connected to movable contacts (7) and equipped with inclined ramps transforming rotational movement by the control element (20) on one or the other of the two control axes (A, B) into translational movement by the movable contacts (7) between the released and engaged positions, and conversely.

  • Patent number: 7071427
Abstract: A disconnect is coupled to a rotary shaft communicating with a door-mounted knob provides an operator on the shaft for engaging the door handle to detect closure of the door. The operator includes a pair of coupling mechanisms that control the transmission of torque between the operator and the shaft depending on whether the door is open or closed. Specifically, when the door is closed, torque applied to the operator in both directions is transmitted to the shaft. If the door is open, torque applied to the operator is only transmitted in one direction to disconnect power through the disconnect unless the user performs a predetermined sequence of events to rotatably couple the operator to the shaft with respect to rotation in the opposite direction that connects power through the disconnect. When the door is open the operator may be easily used to disconnect power but may be used to connect power only when the user manipulates the operator in a certain way.
