Abstract: In a lid device opening and closing a fuel lid of a vehicle by a push-push mechanism, a common push lifter can be applied in both cases with and without a mechanism for locking the fuel lid at a closed position. The lid device (20) indirectly locks the fuel lid (10) at the closed position by controlling a displacement of a push rod (22) protruding and retracting from a push lifter unit (24). In order to control the displacement of the push rod (22), an engagement member (56) engaging the push rod (22) is movably supported in a housing (54) of a drive unit (26), and the push lifter (24) and the drive unit (26) are formed as separate members.

Abstract: A pushbutton switch includes a shell body, a resilient member, and a movable unit movable relative to the shell body between an upper limit position and a lower limit position. The movable unit includes a drive member and an electrical contact member driven by the drive member to move between a plurality of contact positions and a plurality of non-contact positions. The drive member has a plurality of inclined rod-engaging surfaces. When the movable unit is moved from the upper limit position to the lower limit position, one of the rod-engaging surfaces moves on a guide rod of the shell body, thereby resulting in rotation of the drive member relative to the shell body so as to covert the electrical contact member between the contact positions and the non-contact positions.

Abstract: An alternate action mechanism includes a ratchet cam moving a resilient contact between first and second positions. A push button, including an interface member, rotates the ratchet cam by applying force to ratchet teeth. The alternate action mechanism includes a frame supporting the ratchet cam and aligning the ratchet portion with the interface member. In one embodiment, the ratchet portion is between two cam portions. When the ratchet cam is rotated, the cam portions moves the resilient member to one of two alternating positions. In another embodiment, the cam portion is positioned between two ratchet portions. The frame includes cam support arms receiving the ratchet cam. The frame also includes detents which prevent improper movement of the ratchet cam and provide audible indication of actuation of the mechanism. The interface member can comprise a finger to contact a ratchet tooth and rotate the ratchet cam. The finger can be U-shaped, with the edges on the open side contacting the ratchet teeth.

  • Patent number: 5669488
Abstract: In a push button switch with a star wheel having segments with trip cams and being supported in the push button so as to be rotatable about an axis which is normal to the operating direction of the push button, the star wheel is rotated, when the push button is actuated, by an unlatching structure formed on a rotation latch disposed adjacent the star wheel and engaging a projection on the star wheel. The trip cam wheel has cams which operate contact springs disposed adjacent the star wheel along the path of actuating movement of the star wheel whereby contacts are closed or opened depending on the angular position of the cams. Upon release of the push button, the push button is returned by return elements to its original position while the star wheel slides along the contact springs without operating the contacts.

  • Patent number: 5226529
Abstract: A pushbutton switch which permits partial actuation without a change of state, including a body, a cover and a contact cup having a plurality of tabs, the cup rotatably mounted on the cover. A plunger and ratchet mechanism mounted in the body incrementally rotate the contact cup and tabs upon successive actuations of the switch. A first terminal mounted on the cover is interruptibly in contact with one of the tabs as they are rotated by operation of the ratchet mechanism, while a second terminal mounted on the cover maintains electrical contact with the contact cup. A plurality of camming ramps formed in the cover are in intermittent communication with the tabs, first lifting them above a planar portion of the first terminal, then permitting one of them to come to rest on the planar portion of the terminal completing an electrical circuit between the first and second terminals. In another embodiment, a third terminal is mounted on the cover in a coplanar spaced apart relationship with the first terminal.
