Abstract: A wiring standard selector switch for use in a universal network cable system includes a baseboard made of an insulating material and a cover shaped and dimensioned to be connected to the baseboard. A switch actuator is mounted beneath the cover and has a portion which extends through a slot formed in the cover and is movable slidably along the slot of the cover. A plurality of circuit conductors carried by the switch actuator are disposed on the switch actuator so as to achieve paired electrical contact between a first and a second set of contact members on the baseboard. By moving the switch actuator slidably along the slot of the cover, at predetermined space intervals, the first and second sets of contact members engage the plurality of circuit conductors so as to establish a different complete circuit. • Patent number: 5410112
Abstract: A safety interlock for an overhead projector utilizes only one electrical switch to provide the functions of both a conventional power switch and a safety interlock switch. In an operational mode, the switch responds to a cam surface for actuation. In a safety interlock mode, the switch is allowed to rotate in response to forces generated by the cam surface rather than being actuated.

  • Patent number: 5373122
Abstract: A floor switch mounted on an elevator shaft wall has a housing from which a shaft extends. An arm has one end attached to the shaft and an opposite end attached to a roller. The roller is engaged by a switching vane mounted on an elevator car during up and down travel of the car in the shaft. As the car passes the switch, the vane rotates the arm and the shaft to move a lever which is coupled to actuate switch contacts in the housing. To avoid the engagement of the roller by the vane, a magnetic switch is mounted in the housing and is responsive to a magnet mounted on the car. The magnet mounted on the car passes the magnetic switch shortly before the vane is to engage the roller and the magnetic switch connects a coil in the housing to electrical power. The coil retracts an armature which is coupled to the lever to move the roller out of the path of travel of the vane.

  • Patent number: 5224364
Abstract: A device is disclosed for sensing the rotary angle of a key-actuated lock system which contains a lock cylinder of a door or flap of a vehicle which is rotatable by way of a key. A follower is coupled to the lock cylinder via a driving coupling allowing a free-wheel rotational play and to a protection element of a lock and is rotatably mounted in a door interior. A switch-actuating part is rotationally coupled to the lock cylinder virtually free of play and is rotatable synchronously with the lock cylinder and a control switch which is switchable by the switch-actuating part at a specific rotary angle of the part and directly spatially adjacent thereto. The switch-actuating part is mounted behind the follower in relation to the lock cylinder on a carrier facing the interior of the vehicle and is fixed to the door or flap. A control switch is retained at least indirectly on the same carrier, and at least these two parts are sealed off relative to the door interior.

  • Patent number: 5223822
Abstract: An actuator shaft is journaled for rotation within a housing of the apparatus and is coupled to a rotary shaft projecting through the top of a valve or valve actuator. The actuator shaft is coupled to a drum having graphics information on an outer surface thereof, such as the words "open" and "closed". As the actuator shaft rotates the graphics information is also rotated past a window in a window member such that the words observed indicate the position of the valve. The window member couples to an alignment ring which is keyed to receive the window member. By rotating the alignment ring, the window member can be selectively oriented such that the graphics are viewable from a preferred perspective. Each of the components is keyed to be oriented with one another and constrained as a cartridge assembly which can be quickly removed as a single unit to access internal switches and circuitry, whereby the cartridge can be quickly reattached such that the components cannot be inadvertently incorrectly reassembled.

  • Patent number: 5178265
Abstract: An electrical switch which has a body, a contact base at one end of the body, a cam member positioned for rotation within the body, and a plunger positioned within the body for nonrotating movement. The cam member has a conductive bridge contact portion and has cam followers which engage the cam surface in the base to move the cam member between a make position in which the bridge is in contact with contacts on the base and a break position in which the bridge is spaced from the contacts on the base. The plunger has an actuatable pushbutton portion extending from the body and has driving portions which engage driven portions on the cam member to rotate the cam member upon nonrotating movement of the plunger. The plunger engages the cam member to provide a rotating first camming action, while the cam member engages the base to provide a nonrotating second camming action.

Abstract: The rotating cam limit switch includes a hub, a position screw arm, a position screw, a position wheel, a retractable cam, a dwell wheel, a dwell screw, a dwell screw arm, a spring wave washer and a locking ring. The hub is to be mounted on a rotating shaft which is to activate a non-rotating switch assembly. Abstract: A cam roll pin assembly includes a cylindrical portion having an extending axle at each end for receiving a small roller and a relatively larger roller. The smaller roller is provided for engaging the cam surface on the contact assembly. The larger roller is received within a slot. Retaining rings are used to secure rollers on the axles. With such an arrangement the rollers are able to rotate independently. Thus, during a blow open condition, the contact points of the cam roll pin assembly can rotate in opposite directions without causing relatively large frictional forces on the cam roll pin which can slow down the blow open speed.

  • Patent number: 4853502
Abstract: The mechanism includes a housing containing a plurality of switches and a cam shaft which is frictionally coupled by a first clutch band to a pivotal brake lever. Two cam members, which are rotatable on the cam shaft, are frictionally connected by another pair of interconnected clutch bands to a clutch lever. The cam shaft and the two cam members are pivotal within certain angular limits in response to pivotal movements of the vehicle's brake and clutch, respectively, to control the brake lights, cruise control and a starting switch. If after prolonged use the angular throw of the clutch or brake exceeds the throw for which it was originally designed, limit means associated with the cam members and cam shaft cause the associated clutch band to allow relative angular rotation between the cam shaft or cam member and the associated brake or clutch lever.

  • Patent number: 4839475
Abstract: A switch assembly for a geared limit switch for valve actuators is formed from aligned switch modules. The switch modules includes a pair of switch units, each switch unit having a plunger and a movable contact plate mounted between two springs. As the plunger is driven inward, a camming element on the plunger contacts an edge of an aperture in the movable contact plate, forcing the plate to move in a direction perpendicular to the line of plunger travel. The inward motion of the plunger and the camming action continue after the contacts have closed, wiping the contacts mounted on the movable plate across the surfaces of the stationary contacts. When the plunger is released, an outer edge of the movable plate engages a beveled inner wall of the switch unit housing, returning the movable contact plate to its original position.
