  • Publication number: 20140346028
Abstract: A touch panel including a substrate, first electrodes, second electrodes, first wires, second wires and a means for shortening a gap between the second electrodes in a third direction is provided. The first electrodes are arranged sequentially in a first direction. Each first electrode has openings arranged in a second direction intersecting the first direction. The second electrodes are located in the openings. Each first electrode and the second electrodes surrounded by the first electrode constitute a sensing unit. The first wires and the second wires connect the first electrodes and the second electrodes to a driving circuit. The means for shortening the gap between the second electrodes in the third direction renders a ratio of the gap between the second electrodes in the third direction to that in the second direction to be smaller than 1:3.4, where the third direction intersects either the first direction or the second direction.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a fingerprint sensor having a set of capacitive elements configured for capacitively coupling to a user fingerprint. The fingerprint sensor may be disposed under a control button or display element of an electronic device, for example one or more of a control button and a display component. A responsive element is responsive to proximity of the user fingerprint, for example one or both of a first circuit responsive to motion of the control button, and a second circuit responsive to a coupling between the fingerprint and a surface of the display element. The fingerprint sensor is disposed closer to the fingerprint than the responsive element. The control button or display component may include an anisotropic dielectric material, for example sapphire.

Abstract: An inertia switch includes a stack of a base plate and a base cover. The base plate provided inside a liquid storage chamber and a sensing chamber communicating with a liquid storage chamber. The liquid storage chamber contains working fluid, and the sensing chamber equipped with a sensing electrode extending to and connected to an external equipment that tend to interact with the inertia switch. The electricity-conductive liquid is utilized as a medium for inertia detection. Furthermore, by the width, depth and angle of the flow channel design, when the liquid material flows into the sensing chamber through the channel after a time delay, a sensing signal is obtained by the sensing electrodes through a change of a resistance value or a capacitance value to actuate the switch. The inertia switch has a simple structure and is low cost.

Abstract: A touch sensor pattern with a secondary sensor formed substantially as part of the touch sensor pattern is provided. By forming the secondary sensor substantially as part of the touch sensor pattern, where the secondary sensor can be held at a steady state or ground during a touch scan cycle of the touch sensor, an overall thickness of the stackup at the area of the touch sensor where the secondary sensor is formed can be significantly reduced. The reduction in the thickness can allow more space for other hardware such as a device battery, for example. Moreover, grounding the secondary sensor can shield the touch sensor pattern at the area of the touch sensor pattern where the secondary sensor is formed, during a touch scan cycle.

Abstract: A touch panel support which has a full flat surface and an outstanding operability is provided. The touch panel support includes a touch panel assembly and a case assembly for supporting the touch panel assembly. The touch panel assembly has, on the periphery thereof, a stepped engagement part which is lower than the surface of the touch panel assembly. The case assembly has a case main body for accommodating the touch panel assembly so as to allow a force feedback perpendicular vibration thereof and a bezel which is secured to the opening of the case main body. The bezel is engaged with the engagement part of the touch panel assembly so as not to inhibit the perpendicular vibration of the touch panel assembly. The surfaces of the touch panel assembly and the bezel are formed to be flush with each other.

Abstract: A force feedback-type touch panel device is provided which can provide an operator with clearer feedback than that of conventional art by presenting the operator with vibration having a larger vibration amplitude than that of conventional art and can prevent any breakage or damage of a touch panel when an external impact is applied to the touch panel. The touch panel device includes a base member, a touch panel retained by the base member, a cover member formed in a shape covering the touch panel with a hard synthetic resin, and an actuator that causes the cover member to be displaced along the perpendicular direction with respect to a flat surface of the touch panel. The cover member is urged in the direction toward the base member using an attraction force generated between a first magnet fixed on the base member and a second magnet fixed on the cover member.
