  • Patent number: 10422059
Abstract: The present invention provides a means for shutting down a braiding machine to prevent damage to a product to which the braided yarn is applied under failure conditions such as when a yarn breaks. Failure of the yarn or the tensioning of the yarn causes an imbalance in the tensioning on the product causing it to be displaced from its normal position and this displacement is detected to shut the braiding machine down.

  • Patent number: 9179659
Abstract: A fish bite indicator that provides an indication of the fishing line being pulled from the reel during night-time or low light conditions is described. The fish bite indicator has a light source attachment feature that is configured on the spinning portion of the reel, such as the reel top. When a fish bites the lines and pulls the fishing line from the reel, the reel spins and the spinning light is clearly visible to a nearby angler. The fish bite indicator is detachably attachable to a reel in some embodiments. In other embodiments, the fish bite indicator has a body forming an enclosure around the light source with one or more openings in the body. The light projected from the openings creates a repetitive flash when the reel spins. A glow-stick type or LED light may be used with the fish bite indicator described.

  • Patent number: 8089012
Abstract: A safety switch 2 used in conjunction with a cable as a machine guard, the switch being actuated to cut power to attendant machinery when a predetermined tension in the cable is varied by for example pulling the cable, or the cable becoming loose. The switch 2 comprising a sliding cam 14 which is connected to a connection point 12 for the cable via a spring loaded shaft 10 which shaft also supplies said predetermined tension and acts to move said sliding cam 14 in a first plane when the predetermined tension is varied. The sliding cam 14 then acts on a transverse cam 36 moving it in a plane transversely disposed to said first plane which in turn acts to cut said power 30, 52.

  • Patent number: 7348507
Abstract: A cable foul sensor is provided for detecting a cable foul condition of a hoist or other cable reeling device. The cable foul condition may be sensed independently of the cable layer on a hoist cable drum. The cable foul sensor allows a cable foul condition to be detected before the cable mis-wrap caused by the foul condition extends outside of the envelope of the drum. The cable foul sensor may include an actuator having a first part and a second part disposed to form a passageway that receives a cable. At least one switch is disposed on the actuator. If the cable contacts at least one of the first part and the second part, the at least one of the first and the second part actuates the at least switch to control a winding operation of the cable.

  • Patent number: 6967297
Abstract: A sensor for detecting a rupture or length change in a belt. The sensor has a movable transmission element operatively connected to the belt, that acts on an electrical switch having a contact system in the event of a length change or rupture of the belt. The contact system comprises a switching contact with a contact surface arranged on a first end, and an associated fixed contact. The transmission element acts on the second end of the leaf spring. A limb extends approximately from the first end of the leaf spring in the direction of the second end, and a further limb extends from the second end of the leaf spring in the direction of the first end. The free ends of the two limbs are clamped offset from one another on a carrier part of the switch, such that the switching contact switches over in a bistable manner.

  • Publication number: 20040188232
Abstract: The invention relates to a thread detector (F) for detecting thread path/halt conditions and/or thread tension. Said detector is provided with a deflector assembly for re-directing the thread, said assembly transmitting the stress on the thread to at least one transducer device (W), which generates a signal and responds to mechanically transmitted stresses. The deflector is also provided with at least one electronic evaluation circuit (6) for deriving output signals, (i1, i2) and with thread guides (8), which are located upstream and downstream of the deflector assembly and define the course of the thread. The deflector assembly comprises a first and second deflector (D1, D2) that lie one behind the other in the course of the thread, one of Which transmits the stress from the thread tension and the other the stress from the path/halt conditions to a respective transducer device (W).

  • Patent number: 6720873
Abstract: A device for testing a cable deroped magnetic proximity detector positioned adjacent a cable sheave or sheave assembly on a cable operated ski lift. A sleeve of non-ferromagnetic material is temporarily secured coaxially over the steel lift cable and the sleeve is dimensioned in length and thickness in amounts sufficient to raise the cable simultaneously away from the detector and the adjacent sheaves whereby the detector indicates a derope condition. When the ski lift is operated to thereby move the sleeve over the detector and adjacent sheaves, a derope condition will be simulated and the alarm tested to determine whether it provides the appropriate signal.

  • Patent number: 6646212
Abstract: A switch mechanism comprising a housing in which a switch is mounted, the switch being actuable to switch between first and second conditions. A cam is mounted within the housing to rotate about a predetermined cam axis, the cam defining a cam surface against which a cam follower bears such that rotation of the cam causes displacement of the cam follower to activate the switch. An actuator shaft which may be connected to a safety rope is mounted to be axially displaceable within the housing, the actuator shaft being mechanically coupled to the cam such that axial displacement of the shaft causes the cam to rotate about its axis. The actuator shaft is positionable in an intermediate axial position in which the cam is rotatable to a predetermined rotational position such that the cam follower causes the switch to assume the first condition.

  • Patent number: 6637693
Abstract: A yarn feeder having one or more yarn feeler levers which rest on the yarn with a force which in the desired position of the lever, i.e. with a correct yarn run, is small. If the lever is pivoted out because the yarn tension is decreased or the yarn has broken, the force with which the lever rests on the yarn increases. This is achieved in the illustrated yarn feeler by a relief device which partially compensates for the weight of the lever and provides a compensating force as a function of the pivot angle. The compensating force preferably decreases with an increase in further pivotal movement of the lever.
