Gear Shift Lever Mounted Patents (Class 200/61.28)
  • Patent number: 11879744
Abstract: Left turns are known to be one of the most dangerous driving maneuvers. An effective way to mitigate this safety risk is to install a left-turn enforcement—for example, a protected left-turn signal or all-way stop signs—at every turn that preserves a traffic phase exclusively for left turns. Although this protection scheme can significantly increase the driving safety, information on whether or not a road segment (e.g., intersection) has such a setting is not yet available to the public and navigation systems. This disclosure presents a system that exploits mobile crowdsensing and deep learning to classify the protection settings of left turns.

  • Patent number: 8552319
Abstract: A turning direction indicator device includes an actuator that rotates by an operation of the operating lever, a cam body that shifts in a rearward direction approaching a cancel cam. The cam body is rotatable about a rotation axis, and shifts in the rearward direction when the actuator rotates. The cam body includes a rear wall surface opposite to the cancel cam. The rear wall surface has two end parts symmetrical to each other with respect to the longitudinal axis. A spring elastically contacts the end parts to urge the cam body in the rearward direction. The spring also urges the cam body in a rotating direction about the rotation axis when the longitudinal axis of the cam body rotates. The turning direction indicator device suppresses a hitting noise produced by the cam body and a release element with such a simple structure, and operates reliably.

Abstract: A turning direction indicator controls the operation of a light source for turn signals and indicates a turning direction of the vehicle. A plurality of switch contacts are brought into electrical contact with each other, responsive to operation of an operating part. An angular velocity sensor detects an angular velocity of a vehicle turning, and outputs an angular velocity signal. A controller controls the output of a drive signal for causing operation of the light source, according to the electrical contact between the switch contacts and the angular velocity signal. The controller controls the output of the drive signal, according to the angular velocity signal, and a speed signal indicating a speed of the vehicle. The controller controls the output of the drive signal, according to the relation between the set threshold value and the angular velocity signal, and the relation between the angular velocity signal and the speed signal.

  • Patent number: 7454992
Abstract: Vehicular manual transmission control apparatus is of the type in which two or more selectable shift positions of a shift lever (13) can be varied on the basis of a travel control state (e.g., position of the shift lever) of the vehicle. The apparatus includes a guide section (various shift patterns), which allows shift operation of the shift lever along a given shift path, assigned a high selection priority, to be performed with ease when the lever is to be shifted to a desired one of the shift positions. The guide section is implemented by a reactive force generation mechanism (41) which is in turn implemented by a control device (26).

  • Patent number: 6930594
Abstract: An electronically-active vehicle gear-shift knob (10) consisting of a hand-grasping section (12), an electronics enclosure (44) that is attached to an upper edge (14) of the hand-grasping section (12), and an electronics control circuit (90) consisting of a transmitting circuit (92) and a remotely located receiving circuit (94). The enclosure (44) includes a set of four pushbutton switches (92E) that are connected to the transmitting circuit (92). The closure of any one of the pushbutton switches (92E) allows the transmitting circuit (92) to produce an RF output signal (19) that is radiated via an antenna (92H) to the receiving circuit (94). The receiving circuit (94) subsequently processes the RF output signal (19) and produces an output control signal (29) that energizes an LED light corresponding to the specific pushbutton switch (92E)that has been closed.

  • Patent number: 6670564
Abstract: A lead wire (18) is connected to a terminal (17) of a substrate (14) of an electrical component. Subsequently, the substrate is attached to a substrate attaching portion (5) of a lever base (1). Moreover, a midway portion of the lead wire is inserted into and placed in a lead wire guide portion (6) of a large-diameter portion (2). Thereafter, a cylindrical cover member (20) is attached to the outside of the lever base in such a manner as to cover the whole of the large-diameter portion and the substrate. There is no necessity for performing an operation of inserting the lead wire into a fine lead wire insertion hole. Moreover, the large-diameter portion, the substrate, the substrate, and the lead wire are covered by the cover member. Thus, there is no need for forming a cutout in the cover member.

  • Patent number: 6506988
Abstract: An inhibitor switch is disclosed, including a permanent magnet and a magnetic sensor which detects a magnetic force of the permanent magnet in a non-contacting state and outputs a linear change in a voltage value in response to a change in a relative position between the permanent magnet and the magnetic sensor. One of the permanent magnet and the magnetic sensor is mounted on a manual valve shaft side for changing over change gear range positions of an automatic transmission by operating a manual valve of the automatic transmission in an interlocking manner with the manual valve shaft. The other one of the permanent magnet and the magnetic sensor is mounted on a transmission case side of the automatic transmission. The change gear range position of the automatic transmission is detectable in response to an output of the voltage value corresponding to the change gear range position.

  • Patent number: 6172311
Abstract: In a lever switch assembly, a sliding portion is formed on a bracket at an area located inside a first unit case. The sliding portion is constructed so as to slide along a face inside the first unit case which is directed facing away from a second unit case. With this arrangement, a projection conventionally provided at a tip end of the bracket has become unnecessary, and an overall thickness of the assembly can be decreased. During assembly, the sliding portion is blocked by the face inside the first unit case which is directed facing away from the second unit case and therefore, the bracket will be prevented from being disengaged at a stage before the second unit case is assembled.
