Lever Borne Contacts Patents (Class 200/6BA)
  • Patent number: 5324903
Abstract: An arm switch assembly, for an electrical instrument having a casing and electrical contacts, comprises an elongated insulating body member with a conductive member moved into engagement with and disengagement from the electrical contacts in response to operation of a camming mechanism. The camming mechanism is slidably mounted to the casing and has a cam surface movable between first and second positions. The insulating body member includes first and second ends, and a lateral arm connected to the first end permits the insulating body member to pivot relative to the casing. A cam follower is connected to and extends laterally from the second end of the insulating body member. The cam follower engages the cam surface in the first position and disengages the cam surface in the second position. The conductive member is mounted on the second end of the insulating body member and is positioned adjacent to the electrical contacts.

  • Patent number: 4697053
Abstract: A rocker switch has within a housing, a two-position actuator which moves a spring-loaded plunger from a first position to a second position of engagement with a bar, moving the bar over a fulcrum and wedging a second conductive end of the bar into bridging engagement between a second pair of spring contact terminals while simultaneously forcing the first conductive end out of engagement with a first pair of terminals. During moving from the first position to the second position the plunger disengages from contact with the bar at a first position proximate a first end of the bar and rides over a peaked camming surface which substantially compresses the spring while the bar remains stationary, bridging the first pair of terminals. When the plunger reaches the peak of the camming surface, the plunger is released to impact on the bar at a second position proximate the second end of the bar, suddenly forcing the second end downward into bridging the second pair of terminals.

Abstract: A switch is provided with a normally-open terminal and a normally-closed terminal arranged on the same place with a relatively wide gap formed therebetween. A pivot member pivoted to the switch casing carries a clip-like movable terminal one end of which clamps and engages with a supporting hole bored in a common terminal, and the second end of which clamps and slidingly engages the normally-open and normally-closed terminals. The normally-closed terminal has a guide post for maintaining expansion of and guiding the second end of the movable terminal as it traverses the gap between the normally-open and normally-closed terminals so that smooth switching operation is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4571467
Abstract: A three position switch has three blade or strip type fixed contacts, which can be assembled by insertion in slots provided in the switch case. The switch has a stable center-off condition without requiring a yoke on the center fixed contact. The movable contact cooperates with the actuator's plunger portion to define this center-off switch condition and the elimination of such a yoke provides a simpler switch.

  • Patent number: 4427850
Abstract: A monostable switch device for controlling the rear window washer/wiper of an automobile, is incorporated into the steering-column control switch unit. Operation of the rear window washer/wiper switch device is effected by manual rotation of the windscreen wiper control lever about its longitudinal axis against a bias provided by a resilient tongue formed internally of the control-switch unit body. Rotation of the lever serves to displace a movable switch element whereby to complete the rear window washer/wiper energisation circuit; this circuit only remains completed through the monostable switch device for as long as the windscreen wiper control lever is held in its rotated position against the bias force.
