Ball Patents (Class 200/DIG29)
  • Patent number: 4022998
Abstract: A device responsive to acceleration in any direction in which a ball rests on an upwardly facing seat in a housing and is movable laterally on the seat when acted on by a predetermined force of acceleration. When the ball moves laterally on the seat an electric circuit is completed which can be employed for signalling or control purposes.

  • Patent number: 4016401
Abstract: A grooved contact roller is movable in a housing between two switching poions determined by an elastic positioning element which defines an intermediate position in which the contact roller is in a state of unstable equilibrium. The positioning element is engaged in the groove of the roller and the latter is disposed flat against the bottom of the housing. A slidable cover for the housing constitutes an actuating member for the switch and has a journal which extends toward the bottom of the housing and is engaged with clearance in a central aperture of the roller.

  • Patent number: 4001185
Abstract: An acceleration sensing device comprising an electrically conductive annular conductive support ring, an electrically conductive sphere to be placed on the upper inner periphery of said support ring, and an electrically conductive contact disposed in the neighborhood of said ball, thereby the device being capable of detecting acceleration in any direction by the use of the electrical conduction between the support ring and the contact through the ball.

  • Patent number: 3963885
Abstract: A switch device for use in a wristwatch. The device comprises a switch housing and a cavity defined within the switch housing. The cavity has a side wall with at least a portion thereof being arcuately extending, a top wall and a bottom wall. A spherical displaceable element, of magnetically attractable material, is located for movement within the cavity. The side wall, top wall and bottom wall are spaced apart a distance sufficient to permit free displacement of the displaceable element therebetween. At least one magnetic element is associated with the cavity and located in a portion of the side wall whereby to retain the spherical displacement element thereto by magnetic attraction when the spherical element is displaced thereagainst in the cavity. The spherical element, when retained by the magnetic element, is dislodged therefrom by an external force created by a predetermined movement of a wearer's arm to release the spherical element in the cavity by gravity.

  • Patent number: 3955356
Abstract: Disclosed is a solid state watch having an electro optical display which is selectively actuated by a gravity switch contained in the watch casing and positioned such that upon a displacement from a horizontal of the watch the display is actuated. A preferred embodiment utilizes a triangular-shaped cavity having a ball-shaped conductor movably contained therein for engaging a pair of electrical contacts within the cavity for coupling power to the display. Furthermore, the displacement of the watch from horizontal must also be within a selected orientation range.
