Rim Of Aperture In Horizontal Wall Engages Chime Patents (Class 206/158)
  • Patent number: 4460084
Abstract: A plural container packaged for securing together a plurality of identical containers, each said container having an open neck finish, an outstanding bead portion disposed below said finish portion, an angled shoulder portion disposed below said bead portion and an elongate hollow enlarged diameter main body portion having a closed bottom, in communication with said finish opening. The package includes a plurality of such containers, in a regular geometric array, with a unitary cover shroud overlaying each container in the array such that the upper portion of the cover shroud is subjacent to the bead portion of the containers and the lower portion of the cover shroud extends approximately to the midpoint of the container main body portion. A first container securing means interconnects each container at a point immediately subjacent to the bead portion of the container and superjacent to the cover shroud.

  • Patent number: 4432579
Abstract: The invention provides a holding device for one or more rows of bottles or the like. The device comprises essentially a sleeve of sheet material having upper and lower walls and side walls, and the device is applied to the containers by passing it over the containers so that the tops pass through apertures in the base wall and then apertures in the top wall. The containers are locked to the device by virtue of the device having locking tabs or a locking wall which folds upwardly by virtue of engagement with the containers, but locks under the container rims or beads on the caps of the containers or at the container mouths, preventing removal of the container by movement in an opposite direction. Preferably, there are two locking devices which engage the container rims or beads at opposite sides, and lie in an inclined position relative to the container axis.

Abstract: A secondary container packaging material for use in six pack can wraps, six pack bottle carriers, twelve pack carriers, etc., comprising a composite of a paper material laminated to a plastic film. The plastic film provides tear resistance to the composite, so that paper material may be used which has a tear resistance less than that of other secondary packaging paper materials. The reduced tear resistance allows the use of paper having a lower caliper, basis weight, and, therefore, cost than conventional secondary container packaging material. Natural kraft paper and recycled paper of 12-16 point caliper are preferred for use with the present composite. The plastic film may be 0.25-2 mils thick and is preferably formed of polyethylene terpthalate, polyethylene, polyvinylchloride, polypropylene, or cellophane. The preferred films are transparent and permit reverse printing on their inner surface to provide abrasion resistant decoration visible through the film.
