Abstract: The carrier has a central vertical support panel structure, and a pair of foldable receptacles extending outwardly from opposite sides of the vertical support structure. The receptacles have automatically-opening bottom walls with symmetrical bottom panels which overlap to even-out the strength of the bottom walls and minimize areas of reduced strength. At least two opposed bottom panels are shaped to interlock with one another to hold the carrier open once it has been unfolded. Elongated, connected reinforcing flanges strengthen the carrier in the vertical direction. Double and triple-ply reinforcement panels are used to form a four or six-ply handle structure for improved strength.

  • Patent number: 7175020
Abstract: A new type of secondary locking system for article carriers consisting of at least one secondary male lock with two shoulders that is attached by a neck to the edge of a outer flap on the carrier for use with a primary locking system. An inner flap has a secondary female opening for each secondary male lock. The secondary female opening is formed by a secondary cut line and fold line with the center of the fold line projecting towards the edge of the flap while of the center of the secondary cut line projects away from the edge of the flap to guide the secondary male lock into a flat position against the inside of the inner flap. The shoulders on the secondary male lock are engaged against locking ledges along the extensions of the secondary cut line. • Patent number: 6371287
Abstract: The present invention relates to a basket carrier that provides full protection for the bottles being carried, and which can be glued on a straight-line gluer. The provision of nicks (i.e., temporary bridges) between the handle panels and the side walls serves to keep the handle panels in proper alignment during the folding and gluing operation on the gluer. These nicks are easily broken when the carrier is opened to receive bottles in the bottling plant. The present invention also utilizes nicks between the partition panel and the handle ply to hold them in contact but yet prevent bunching of paperboard during the folding and gluing process.
