  • Publication number: 20040195125
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a tube case having first and second sections wherein the open ends of the two sections can be slid together to provide a carrying case for elongated items, such as fishing rods, rifles, golf clubs, golf bags and the like. One section is smaller in cross-section than the other such that the closed end of that section can be inserted into the open end of the other section to provide a more compact assembly for storage and shipment. The sections of the tube case are designed so that a portion or an edge at the open end of the outer case abuts a shoulder on a latch plate or bracket on the other case to both provide a stop when the open ends of the two sections are placed together for carrying an article, and further to properly orient the ends of the two sections so that latches can be readily and simply engaged and latched to lock together the two sections.

Abstract: A golf club head cover for use with standard wood golf clubs and oversized wood golf clubs is disclosed and made primarily of non-stretchable fabric and a narrow strip of elastic material. The head cover has a tubular formation having a first end stitched to an elongated sleeve shaft and a second end stitched to another piece of material to close the second end. The narrow strip of elastic material extends from the first end to the second end to accommodate the receipt of an oversized golf club head. The narrow strip of elastic material encompasses less than fifteen percent of the tubular formation so as not to detract from the decorative qualities of the non-stretchable fabric.

The carrier is removably attached to a golf bag and is designed to hold two or more golf clubs. A handle is used to hold and carry the golf club carrier when it is removed from the golf bag, and is also used to secure the golf club carrier to the golf bag. The pivotable legs are attached to the carrier such that when extended they prop the golf club carrier up while the golfer selects a golf club carrier prior to taking a shot. The golf club carrier has storage compartments that keep the shaft and the handle of the golf clubs clean and dry. The pivotable legs prevent the golf club heads from becoming dirty or wet by preventing them from coming in contact with the ground when the golfer stands the golf club carrier on the ground. An optional outer sleeve is also provided to facilitate ease of insertion and removal of the golf club carrier into and out of the golf bag.

  • Patent number: 6659316
Abstract: This invention is a quiver for carrying sporting equipment or tools over the shoulder; it can be converted into a free-standing structure; and it can be disassembled when not in use for ease of storing and traveling. The quiver consists of a plurality of rigid tubes, with a means for holding the assembled tubes into a stable structure suspended from a shoulder strap. The quiver also allows peripheral equipment to be attached by such means as clips, hook-and-loop-type fasteners, hanging containers, and so forth. The shoulder strap is adjustable, for comfortable, hands-free carrying and for hanging the quiver from a chair, a hook, or other furnishing. Adding wheels allows the quiver to be rolled or carried. The quiver can also be converted into a stand which holds equipment off the ground. Further, after use, the quiver can easily be disassembled into individual protective casings for transport or shipping; when disassembled, the quiver components require less packing space.

The knit sock inside the head cover portion functions to provide a tight fit around the club head and secure the golf club head cover in place. The present invention also includes a method of protecting golf club heads of various sizes through use of a golf club head cover having a knit sock disposed within the head cover.

  • Patent number: 6227269
Abstract: A head cover for golf clubs is disclosed. In the head cover, a tubular member defines a head pocket therein to receive a club head, with first and second openings being formed at both ends of the tubular member. A cap member is detachably mounted to the first opening of the tubular member to close the first opening. A guide member is detachably mounted to the second opening of the tubular member. The guide member is expandable and contractible, thus guiding entrance and exit of the head relative to the head pocket and protecting the head end portion of the shaft. In the guide member, a ring is integrated with a shaft protection part and is mounted to the second opening of the tubular member. The tubular member has a shape retaining frame, with a cloth part provided on the internal and external surfaces of the frame. The cap member has a cap frame having a window, with a cloth part provided on the cap frame for covering interior and exterior surfaces of the cap frame.

  • Patent number: 6209721
Abstract: This invention concerns a sports bag such as a golf bag equipped with an organizer insert. In another aspect the invention concerns an organizer insert for a sports bag such as a golf bag. The invention involves an apertured plate, with each aperture being sized and shaped to comfortably receive, for example, a golf club handle. Side walls extend below the plate to define a single compartment beneath each aperture. A spacer is associated with the side walls to keep them in fixed relationship with each other as they extend downwards. A retainer is associated with each compartment to grip a golf club handle and resist its removal from the bag. Golf club handles may be dropped or pushed into the bag through the apertures in the plate. They are gripped by the retainers and are kept relatively still inside their respective compartments. In this way the clubs will be retained in fixed relative locations within the bag, and will be unlikely to fall out of the bag during normal handling.

Abstract: An apparatus for use with a golf bag serves to secure and protect golf clubs contained in the golf bag. The apparatus includes at least one club head securing member for simultaneously securing one or more selected golf clubs contained in the golf bag. The club head securing member is provided with a middle portion for covering at least a portion of club heads of the selected golf clubs. Two extended portions are provided for allowing said middle portion to hold the selected golf clubs down onto the golf bag with a predetermined pressure, wherein one end of each extended portion integrally is extended from said middle portion. An attachment member is provided for detachably and length-adjustably attaching the other end of each extended portion to an upper portion of the golf bag to thereby maintain the predetermined pressure. The apparatus further includes a golf bag cover designed to fit over one or more club head securing member to provide additional protection.
