  • Publication number: 20080047861
Abstract: Systems and methods for developing and managing a product are described. The development of the product includes configuring and constructing the product such that the product can be communicated directly between an end user and an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The system further comprises developing the product to satisfy the requirements of a common carrier as to content, shape, and size of parcels. For engine driven products, this development includes developing the product for isolation of consumable materials, such as fuel, oil, and/or batteries, during shipment of the product. Such a system provides for the cradle to grave management of the engine driven product by the OEM. Accordingly, the OEM avoids the expense and complication generally associated with maintaining or associating with an engine driven device dealers. Such a system also allows the OEM to more closely monitor and assess product performance and maintenance and well as warranty and financing protocols.

Abstract: A transportation case is provided for an automotive engine, transmission, or the like. The transportation case includes a one-piece molded plastic base and a one-piece molded plastic lid. The base includes a substantial uniform wall thickness and comprises an outer peripheral wall connected to a formed bottom to provide an upwardly opening space. The formed bottom defines a wall for receiving an automotive engine, transmission, or the like, and has opposite longitudinally extending feet for resting on a support surface and a fork lift opening between the feet. The lid includes a substantially uniform wall thickness comprising an outer peripheral wall connected to a top wall. The lid outer peripheral wall is received on the base outer peripheral wall to close the upwardly opening space.

  • Patent number: 7246717
Abstract: An above-ground, double-walled, tank for holding combustible material and supporting a generator has an outer tank and an inner tank with structural baffles, all made from type 316 stainless steel. An interstitial space formed by the outer tank and inner tank is filled with a fire resistant solution consisting of a fire block gel and water. An internal support system, including structural baffles in the inner tank, provide a structure to support a generator and other equipment on the top of the tank without the use of tank wall stiffeners or external beams. A level detector in the interstitial space detects changes in the level of the fire resistant solution. A water detector in the inner tank detects the presence of water. The fire resistant solution may be removed from the interstitial space for tank inspection and repair.

  • Patent number: 6983844
Abstract: The invention relates to a transportation method and a package system for transporting a set of large longitudinal items such as blades for a wind turbine (1) or a tower for a wind turbine. Taking wind turbine blades (1) as an example, the advantages of the invention reside in packaging a tip (3) of one blade and a base (2) of a second blade in the one and same package (5) such that two blades (1) may be transported in packages (5, 16) having an overall lateral extension, approximately the same as the base of only one blade (1) for the wind turbine. Thereby a very compact but also a very easy means of transportation of large longitudinal items such as wind turbine blades (1) is provided.

  • Patent number: 6779660
Abstract: This invention relates generally to a piston assembly and more specifically to a piston assembly in a prepackaged configuration. The prepackaged piston assembly is ready for immediate installation into an engine or compressor. The piston assembly has a plurality of rings preinstalled on a piston member and a sleeve position about the piston member and the plurality of rings maintaining the rings in a compressed position ready for installation into an engine. The piston assembly is lowered into a cylinder bore, the sleeve contacts the top surface of a block and the piston assembly can be easily installed into the cylinder bore without the need for the mechanic to compress the plurality of rings. Thus the present invention reduces time and expense required for rebuilding and engine and increases the quality of the rebuild.
