  • Patent number: 8794437
Abstract: The present invention is a packaged system that includes a housing to protect a treatment device mounted on a distal portion of a catheter. The housing holds the device suspended such that there is little or no contact between the housing and the device, protecting the device from physical damage and also from exchange of chemical components between the device and the packaging materials, which can occur when a device remains in contact with packaging materials over an extended period of time. A port in the housing allows a controlled environment, for example a vacuum, to be maintained within the housing. A hollow stylet inserted into the distal end of the catheter before the catheter is placed in the housing precludes compression of the catheter and provides an injection port through which the catheter may be flushed with a fluid prior to use, eliminating the need for a separate flushing cannula.

Abstract: A modular bracket and associated instrumentation case configuration is disclosed herein. The modular bracket may include a support member structured to receive a specific instrument and hold the instrument at a fixed position, and an attachment member to facilitate a releasable attachment to a mounting surface such as an instrument tray platform. The modular bracket is shaped to provide an indication of the instrument, to allow user identification of the instrument received by the support member. For example, the indication of the instrument may be provided in the modular bracket by the perimeter shape of the attachment member that resembles an outline of the instrument. A modular instrument case assembly including a tray and housing may provide a platform for modular placement of one or more modular brackets into a specific arrangement of instrumentation.

Abstract: A modular system facilitates packaging, marking, handling, sterilizing, tracking, tagging and storing small components such as surgical screws. A small, suitably cylindrical or similar cell receives a screw or other component and seats the component in a predetermined orientation. A complementary cap is adapted to engage the cell from above, closing the top and retaining the component in the cell. The cap is also adapted for use as a tool for handling the cell and the component contained therein. A coupling between the cell and the cap allows the cap to be snapped securely on the cell under manual pressure; the coupling is further adapted to release on application of sufficient bending moment across the co-axis of the cell and cap.
