    Abstract: A cartridge for ligating clips includes compartments formed of partitions lying in spaced parallel planes and a stringer spanning between the partitions. The legs of a clip are joined at a hinge which is seated over the stringer. The stringer comprises a substantially cylindrical body and a depending narrow support flange. Opposed faces of adjacent partitions include areas of reduced thickness spaced apart a distance sufficient to permit limited pivotal movement of the clip about the stringer. An abutment edge of the partition face provides a stop which is engaged by bosses at the ends of the clip legs to limit pivotal movement of the clip legs and prevent ribs of the clip from engaging the stringer.

    Abstract: A protective cover for cable reels comprising a plurality of battens that are linked together in a parallel array by two spaced apart flexible straps that may be secured by either to the outside or underside of the battens. The straps may be tensioned to hold the cover over the periphery of the cable reel. Alternatively, separate steel bands are used on the exterior of the array to hold the array in tension on the reel. In one embodiment, the flexible straps are in the form of ropes positioned on the underside of the array to centrally locate the array on the reel.

    Abstract: A packaging arrangement is shown herein for protecting high voltage, pipe-type, impregnated paper insulated cable during long distance shipping. An annular channel is provided along the inside radial face of a cable reel to receive first and second vapor barrier blankets which may comprise laminated layers of polyolefin, aluminum foil and polyethlene. An adhesive is spread throughout the open portion of the channel. A first steel banding wire annularly secures the first two blankets within the annular channel and a synthetic rubber adhesive is disposed over the two blankets and wire. A third blanket comprising a laminate of polyvinyl chloride and Nylon is then disposed over the composite formed up to this point and a second banding wire is tightly secured about the overall composite. The second wire is so positioned as to bear down in a plane extending generally parallel to the radius of the circle described by the first wire so as to be axially spaced therefrom.
