  • Patent number: 6041933
Abstract: Dunnage for shipping densely packed objects is disclosed. The dunnage consists of trays for supporting objects. Each tray includes a plurality of alternating, spaced first and second bays. Each first bay is adapted to hold one end of the object, while each second bay is adapted to hold the second end of the object. Matched first/second bay pairs are formed when two trays are placed with their bay openings facing one another. This allows each object to be retained by a first/second bay pair. To stack non-linear and symmetric objects in a high vertical density, a second set of trays is stacked on top of the first set of trays. The trays of the second set of trays are different in that the order of bays are opposite the order of bays in the first set of trays. This allows for opposite first/second bay pairs and greater vertical density.

  • Patent number: 5882603
Abstract: A support is provided that is useful with a pipette tip holder for pipette tips. The support has a bottom member and a pair of opposed side walls that extend from the bottom member at least a distance (d). The bottom member and side walls form a cavity. Each side wall defines a slot. The slots are in a facing relationship and extend along a support plane that is parallel to and spaced from the bottom member the distance (d). The slot ends are open on one side so as to receive the pipette tip holder when slidingly inserted into the slots. The side walls preferably include an aligning member adjacent to the open slot end so that the pipette tip holder is aligned in the slots when slid in. Thus, the support supports the pipette tips and pipette tip holder during the pipette tip removal process and resists inadvertent dislodging and lifting of the tips and holder as the tips are removed.

Abstract: Plumbing fittings, such as joints, couplings, nipples, etc. are disposed within an opened topped container such that a plurality of the various fittings are disposed within the container. A transparent heat shrinkable film is shrunk onto the opened top container to removably secure the fittings therewithin. Each of the fittings has a removably adhered indicia bearing label secured thereto as well as the container, itself. In this way, the fittings can be sold within the package or may be removed therefrom for individual sales.

  • Patent number: 5792426
Abstract: A titerplate for instrumental analysis of liquid samples consists of a plurality of wells in which the walls and bottoms are made of two different materials with different physical properties. This allows the interfacial tension at the surface of the liquid to be controlled in such a way that it is essentially planar, allowing more accurate analysis to be performed on the samples. The bottoms of the wells are preferably made of a transparent material, so that the analysis and observation can be done in the transmission mode. The wells may be formed of radiation-absorbing material to prevent radiation cross talk between radioactive specimens. An overgarment replaceable film or foil having depressions aligned with the titerplate wells may be utilized to prevent contamination of the titerplate by samples and allow the reuse of the titerplate.

Abstract: A pack (10) of bottles (14) comprises a plurality of layers (12). Each layer (12) has its bottles (14) packed in a close packed side-by-side array, the array being hexagonal. The layers (12) are packed in a sleeve (18) of a plastics material. The sleeve (18) is selected to have a perimetral dimension slightly less than a peripheral dimension of each layer (12) such that the layers (12), once packed in the sleeve, are constrained against movement.

  • Patent number: 5749465
Abstract: A container accommodating a rodlike object (6) is comprising of a cylinder body (1), a shutter portion (2), and a cap (3). A retrieving port (10) for taking out the rodlike object 6 by holding the middle portion of the rodlike object 6 by fingers (7) and a through-hole for the head portion (11) for passing the head portion of the rodlike object are formed on the circumference wall of the cylinder body, in which a neck portion (12) having a clearance (12a) formed to have a smaller width than the thickness of the middle portion of the rodlike object is formed between the retrieving port and the through-hole for the head portion. The cylinder body is unitedly assembled thereon with the shutter portion and the cap in order, in which a shutter is opened by operating the rotation of the cap. According to the aforementioned structure, production of each part is easier, fewer numbers of parts, and further simplified assembly are possible, resulting in a small cost of production.

  • Patent number: 5735412
Abstract: A stack is formed by a rack having a plurality of holders. A first flexible holder is provided between two adjacent rigid holders. First and second articles are placed on a support and are spaced a pre-determined distance. The rigid second and third holders are placed on top of the first and second articles. A third article is then placed in the first flexible holder between the rigid second and third holders. The weight of the third article on the first flexible holder will cause the second and third rigid holders to move into clamping engagement with sides of the third article. Additional articles can then be placed on the stack. This arrangement provides for a self-gripping rack and article combination.

Abstract: A lead dispensing storage container that can be opened or closed by a single hand. The container body has a lead case formed therein, and a lead outlet allowing release of leads one by one. A gate member mounted in the container body can be moved to open or close lead paths between the lead case and lead outlet. An elastic arm portion forces the gate member to move in direction to close the lead paths. The number of parts is reduced, and supplying leads can be made easier by a case that has a lead supply opening projecting from the tip thereof. A leading end of the case has an inclined slope toward the lead supply opening therein, and a chuck containing leads having a knocking portion that is pressed into the case so that it can be opened by the knocking portion being pushed to press an opening actuator toward the inclined slope or is closed by an elastic force as the opening actuator is released.

  • Patent number: 5706979
Abstract: A flexible cap adapted to enclose a tube having an open end and used for storing items consists of an enclosure having an opening at one end, a closed end, and side walls and enclosing a space. A pair of aligned apertures through the side walls form with the space a bore through the enclosure transverse to the axis of the enclosure between the opening and the closed end. The opening is adapted to engage the open end of the tube. To dispense an item, the cap is bent by lateral flexion so as to align one of the apertures with the open end of the tube and the tube is inverted so that an item falls out under the influence of gravity. The amount of lateral flexion controls the alignment of the aperture with the open end so as to permit only one item at a time to fall out.
