Patent number: 5181610Abstract: A pouch for the packaging of products having a pressure sensitive adhesive thereon, such as sanitary napkins. The pouch is formed of paper of plastic film coated on one side with a layer of silicone, the pouch construction being such that the silicone coating defines the interior surfaces of the pouch. Due to the nonstick characteristic of the silicone coating, the usual protective liner for the adhesive on the packaged product can be omitted. The side seams of the pouch are formed by the application of heat or ultrasonic energy in combination with mechanical deformation of the paper or film to produce embossments in the seam areas. The side seams may be comprised of two or three layers of material. The nature of these side seams may be such that the pouch may be opened by peeling apart the seams, or the seams may be sealed so tightly that the pouch can be opened only by tearing the material.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1992Date of Patent: January 26, 1993Assignee: International Paper CompanyInventors: James R. Patent number: 5161687Abstract: A reclosable and resealable label package is provided which minimizes the amount of packaging necessary for retail display and marketing of labels. The package includes a set of labels formed within a label layer which has a lateral portion surrounding the layers. A top cover sheet is releasably adhered to the label layer only in the lateral portions thereof so that it can be peeled back to allow access to the labels and resealed to reclose the package. The provision for the transparent top cover sheets both obviates the need for any ancillary packaging and provides clear access through the cover sheet so that marketing indicia can be printed directly on the label layer and still be available for viewing by the consumers who may wish to examine the attributes of the product.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1992Date of Patent: November 10, 1992Assignee: Four Lakes Label and Printing Company, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Patent number: 5115913Abstract: In combination, a bag, at least one active mass, and a support, the active mass being carried on the support within the bag and having an exposed pressure-sensitive adherent surface, the support carrying integral spacers which are laterally spaced from the active mass and project above the surface of the support a distance greater than the height of said active mass, thereby to space the mass from the bag.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1990Date of Patent: May 26, 1992Assignee: LTS Lohmann Therapie-Systeme GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5088483Abstract: An adhesive composite is provided which consists of a conformable backing, a pressure-sensitive adhesive which is coated on at least a portion of the bottom surface of the backing, a permanent adhesive reinforcement which acts as reinforcing means for the backing, coated on the bottom surface of the film and a liner which is releasably applied to the adhesive coated surface of the backing. A delivery means may also be provided to allow delivery of the system without touching the adhesive. The permanent adhesive reinforcement is applied to the backing in an amount which is sufficient to provide some reinforcement to the thin film backing so that the composite wall not tend to fold back on itself or wrinkle under ordinary use. Preferably this permanent adhesive reinforcement is applied to the periphery of the backing.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1991Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co.Inventor: Steven B. Patent number: 5064060Abstract: A kit contains a plurality of mounting strips that are releasably attached to a backing element and which can be permanently fixed to a container of a container/cap combination, and a plurality of cap attaching elements which are releasably attached to the backing element and which can be permanently fixed to a cap of the container/cap combination. The mounting strips and the cap attaching elements all have releasably fastening elements, such as hook-and-loop fasteners, which cooperate to releasably attach a cap mounted cap attaching element to a container mounted mounting strip when the cap is removed from a container covering position whereby the cap will be kept in a convenient location during use of the container.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1990Date of Patent: November 12, 1991Inventors: John J. Patent number: 5060794Abstract: A memo pad device having a frame with a recessed cavity for protectively holding a plurality of sheets from a note pad having a reusable adhesive to allow a user to write reminders to themselves, look at them later, do the task and remove either a single sheet or the entire note pad. In one embodiment a memo pad key ring attachment device includes a polymer plastic frame with a hole for a key ring or similar device, a resilient panel which holds a memo pad, the resilient panel being cantileverly attached to the frame, a stack of sheets of paper with reusable adhesive on one end to permit user to attach memo pad to panel, a projecting lip attached to the frame which holds the second end of the memo pad in place, allowing the edge of a single sheet to be exposed for removal by flexing resilient panel in one direction, a writing instrument, and a means of frictionally holding the writing instrument to the frame.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1990Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Inventors: Richard A. Linn, Edward J. Goldstein

Patent number: 5020185Abstract: The invention is a disposable dust pan. It is stored as a flat sheet in a stack ready for use. When needed, one sheet is peeled away from the stack and folded to form a convenient dust pan. Non-hardening adhesive is used to hold the sheet in the folded orientation and to seal one edge to the surface requiring cleaning. After use, the dust pan is sealed to trap dust and debris within a folded pocket and then the entire device is discarded.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1989Date of Patent: June 4, 1991Inventor: Raphael A. Patent number: RE36177Abstract: The invention relates to a method of packaging an adhesive composition, especially a thermoplastic or thermosetting hot melt adhesive. The method comprises the steps of providing one substantially uniform separate portion of the adhesive composition; sufficiently solidifying said portion for packaging; substantially completely surrounding said sufficiently solidified portion with a plastics packaging material. The packaging material being meltable together with the adhesive composition and blendable into said molten adhesive composition, the kind and amount of said packaging material being chosen so as not to disadvantageously affect the properties of the adhesive composition when blended into same. Preferably, the packaging material is a net, a wrap, a sack or a bag. Packagings made of plastic film are advantageously voided of air, to prevent problems in melting. The packaged adhesive can be melted as it is.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1995Date of Patent: April 6, 1999Assignee: H. B.
