Abstract: Disclosed is a single-piece container adapted to receive and secure an insert card. The container is a generally rectangular, relatively flat structure having an interior chamber defined by a top surface, a bottom surface, one open end, and one closed end. The container is formed from a blow molding process and adapted to receive an insert card. The container further comprises locking elements that work in cooperation with the insert card to secure the insert card within the interior chamber such that it can not be removed without manipulation of the locking elements. The material comprising the container can be a clear plastic such that optical scan codes present on an insert card contained within the container can be read through the container.

Abstract: A pressure container has an inner shell with a pair of fittings and a reinforcement layer formed around the inner shell, and is configured so that a reinforcement member is attachable to the pair of fittings in a process of forming the reinforcement layer and a functional component which performs a predetermined function is also attachable to the fittings. This can allow the reinforcement member to prevent expanding deformation of the pressure container in production of the pressure container, and can ensure effective use of openings after removal of the reinforcement member.

Abstract: A tamper-evident package for pharmaceuticals is described. The package includes a case. A tray holding pharmaceuticals slides in and out of the case. The package includes an alarm that can be set to armed and triggered mode. When the alarm is armed, the system of the package changes the alarm to triggered in response to the tray being opened. The package may engage an access indicator in response to the alarm being triggered. The package may also flash an indicator light upon request, prior to opening the tray, to indicate whether the alarm was triggered since being previously armed. The alarm can be armed again if it is triggered, by entering a security code while the tray is closed.

Abstract: A chemical indicator or ink, and methods for manufacture thereof, comprises at least one carbon dioxide-sensitive reactive dye which is capable of detecting changes in carbon dioxide concentration in a fluid under fluid and/or gas phase pressure of carbon dioxide above approximately (1) bar. The present chemical indicators or inks are useful in the monitoring of relatively high carbon dioxide pressure environments, such as in carbonated drinks. The present invention also relates to containers for holding a carbonated liquid, and closures therefore, comprising a carbon dioxide indicator or a carbon dioxide-sensitive ink, wherein the carbon dioxide indicator and/or the ink comprises at least one carbon dioxide-sensitive reactive dye which is capable of detecting changes in carbon dioxide concentration in a fluid under fluid and/or gas phase pressure of carbon dioxide above approximately (1) bar.

Abstract: A refuse collection apparatus includes a body portion extending between upper and lower ends. The apparatus includes a refuse container having bottom and side walls extending upwardly from the bottom wall and defining an open top and an interior area. A lid is releasably coupled to an upper edge of the side wall and configured to cover the container open top, the chute lower end being fixedly attached to the lid. An exhaust fan is operatively mounted to the lid in communication with the container interior area and configured to withdraw air from the container interior area when actuated. An input station is coupled to the chute upper end and configured to interface with the building wall, the input station having an access door movable between open and closed configurations selectively allowing and preventing access to the chute body portion, respectively.

Abstract: A beverage container with an electronic display device and methods for its use are described. The beverage container includes an electronic display device disposed in a sidewall of the container and a control module disposed in a hollow base portion. A liquid sensor senses the presence of a liquid in the container and a motion sensor is provided to sense movements of the container caused by, for example, transporting, holding, or drinking from the container. When the control module receives appropriate signals from the liquid and motion sensors an image or video is displayed on the display device. The container is thus useable to display pictures, videos, slide shows, advertisements, or the like in personal or commercial applications. A communications port is also provided to enable coupling of the container with a computing device for management of images and videos displayed on the container.

Abstract: Systems have a first container and a second container removably joined by an intermediate member, the intermediate member forming a partial seal for the first container. The intermediate member includes an attachment area including a fastener for removably attaching the second container to the intermediate member. The attachment area and fastener are configured so that a portion of an upper surface of the intermediate member is accessible and visible to a user when the second container is attached to the intermediate member. In systems where the first container holds a liquid, the intermediate member includes a puncturable area for a straw or other conduit, and may include indicators for different drinks.

Abstract: The warning graphic portions of a cigarette package are obscured and replaced with a more visually appealing replacement graphic, while leaving the cigarette brand logo unobscured. Preferably, the cigarette package is inserted into a sleeve which obscures the warning graphic while leaving the brand logo substantially unobscured. The sleeve contains a replacement graphic in place of the warning graphic. The replacement graphic could include user self expression or advertising. The use of advertising opens a new outlet for advertisers' messages.

The valve insert includes a vacuum indicator for informing the user when a vacuum is present in the container. The valve insert is pneumatically movable within a chamber by way of a pump assembly to open and close a fluid communication between the container and the exterior of the container to remove fluid to form the vacuum. The vacuum indicator collapses into an opening formed in the lid assembly to inform the user of the vacuum as well as reinforce the seal formed by the valve insert.

Another disclosed technique includes an assembly comprising a cup with a first audible sealing indicator and a lid with a second audible sealing indicator wherein, in operation, the lid is screwed on the cup to a position past where the first audible sealing indicator and the second audible sealing indicator have contacted each other producing an audible sound. Another disclosed technique includes a cup with a raised central bottom area and an insert with bracing wings wherein, in operation, the bracing wings stabilize and secure the insert in the cup.

Additionally, an associated method for demonstrating features of an oral care implement though one or more visual effects is described herein.

Abstract: A currency handling system includes a safe at a first location. The safe seals received currency in a tamper evident container before allowing access to the container. The container includes a container body defining a mouth providing access to an inner volume having variable height. The inner volume has a length and width sized to receive and hold currency in a stacked arrangement. The container also includes an information storage device disposed on the container body and a closure fastener disposed on at least one of the mouth and a side wall of the container body for holding the mouth in a permanently closed state, preventing non-destructive access to the inner volume of the container body. The currency handling system also includes a secure deposit system at a second location configured to receive the sealed container.

The carbon dioxide indicator senses variation in partial pressure of carbon dioxide present in a head space of the package and thus visibly displays the result. The carbon dioxide indicator rapidly reacts at a specific critical point (pH 7.0) or less, thus being considerably highly sensitive.

Abstract: A method and system for using an existing open-environment hydrogen sensor for detecting hydrogen leaking from an atmospheric reference port of a pressure regulator. The atmospheric reference port extension tube of one or more pressure regulators in a hydrogen storage system is routed past a hydrogen sensor which is already used to monitor air around the hydrogen storage system for the presence of hydrogen.

Abstract: Temperature monitoring beverage containers and associated methods are provided. The containers include a temperature sensor operative to sense the temperature of a beverage stored within the container. The temperature of the beverage may be displayed on a display. The containers are also operative to provide one or more alerts to a user indicating that the beverage stored in the container may not be suitable for consumption. When used for beverages that are normally consumed when hot, the alerts may indicate to a user that the beverage is dangerously hot or undesirably cool. When used for beverages that are normally consumed when cold, the alerts may indicate to a user that the beverage is at a temperature known to cause spoilage of the beverage, thus preventing the user from consuming a potentially spoiled beverage. The alerts may be provided by way of an audible or visual indicator, such as an LED.

Exposure to heat from a hot liquid poured in the container activates the microspheres, which expand to increase thermal insulation properties, thereby allowing a user to hold the cup without being too hot to the touch.

Abstract: A device for indicating the current pressure state within a closed container, the device having at least a first substrate having a first set of displacement abilities; at least a second substrate having a second set of displacement abilities different from the displacement abilities of the first substrate; wherein the first and second substrates are held in separable abutment and displacement of one of the first and second substrates causes separation from such abutment producing an indication of either vacuum or pressure within the container. Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate generating a color interference effect during opening and closing of a package for a product. The package includes first and second portions, each having printed thereon a color interference pattern. All or part of the second package portion is transparent, permitting the color interference pattern on the first package portion to be seen through the second package portion. The package portions are mated together (e.g., in a tube and sleeve arrangement or the like), such that the color interference patterns are aligned and overlap each other completely when the package is closed. As the package is opened (or closed), the interference patterns move or slide past each other, creating the visible color interference effect.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate generating a changing visual effect during opening and closing of a package for a product. The package includes first and second portions, each having thereon an polarized interference region with non-parallel planes of polarization. All or part of the second package portion is transparent to one polarization, permitting the polarized interference region on the first package portion to interact with a polarized interference region on the second package portion. The package portions are mated together (e.g., in a tube and sleeve arrangement or the like), such that the polarized regions are aligned and overlap each other when the package is closed, thereby permitting less light through due to the two overlapping planes of polarization. As the package is opened (or closed), the polarized regions move or slide past each other, creating the visual effect by changing the size and shape of the overlapping polarized region.

Abstract: The invention relates to a fluid storage tank having an interior volume and a floor and having an internal spill containment chamber comprising a vent gas scrubbing apparatus or scrubber. The chamber may be defined by a containment wall which completely separates the chamber from the tank interior volume. The indicator described is optionally a flexible material, a swiveling arm integrated with an axis and a swiveling arm without an axis, a reflector or combinations of the foregoing and even multiple combinations of the foregoing to indicate various states of the container. The indicator is attached to the internal or external surface of the container or in the case of the swiveling arm (using a mounting plate) that acts itself as an indicator a further indicator like a reflector, or flag is attached near its extreme external end. The indicator is moveable from the internal area of the container to an external area.

The precision pour drink shaker includes a first means for containing one or more liquids, and a second means for measuring an amount of matter placed into the first means.
