Selectively Positioned Abutment (e.g., Bail Or Handle) Patents (Class 206/506)
  • Patent number: 4105117
Abstract: A re-usable plastic container for the transportation and handling of articles such as fruit and vegetables, and having a base, two opposed side walls and two opposed end walls, all of which walls are inclined downwardly and inwardly to allow nesting of containers one within the other when necessary. The containers also have support wires pivotally mounted on the end walls of the container to be pivotable between positions hanging down alongside the respective end walls to allow another container to be nested therein, and a position overlying or bridging the tops of the ends of the container to support another container thereon in a stacked relationship. The container further includes an arrangement of reinforcing webs in the side walls beneath the points at which the support wires overlie or bridge the container walls, that is, at the position where the load of one or more containers stacked above will be applied, to assist in the support and distribution of the load.

  • Patent number: 4040517
Abstract: A carton for carrying a plurality of bottles, the carton having a stacking capability when both empty and when filled with bottles. Registration for stacking of empty cartons is provided by reception of the handles of each carton in a recessed open area in the bottom of the next carton in the stack. Each carton comprises side and end walls connected in a generally rectangular shape, a central dividing member having an extension thereof forming a handle, partition walls cooperating with the central dividing member to form cells for holding bottles, and a carton bottom coupled to the partition walls and central member. The carton bottom, partition walls and central dividing member are relieved so as to form a slotted region for receiving the handle of a similar empty carton therebelow. Appropriately disposed upward protrusions on the carton bottom maintain the separation of bottles in the relieved region of the carton.

  • Patent number: 4013296
Abstract: A phonograph record is provided with a ring on its rim, the ring being of greater thickness than the record and extending outwardly from both faces of the record to protect the grooved record face from adjacent records on a record player, and when the records are stored in a stack or a rack. Generally radial ribs are spaced circumferentially apart on the opposite faces of the ring to prevent relative rotation of stacked records on a turn table. A gap is formed in the ring and is spanned by an outwardly arched band, the arching of the band being decreased as the ring expands to accommodate records of increasing diameter. A novel record storage is provided by suspending the records from hooks, or the like, which receive the arched bands, and if desired eyes may be formed integrally with the bands in order to more conveniently suspend the records in facially opposed relationship.

  • Patent number: 3951265
Abstract: A three-level stacking container adpated to stack within a lower container of like construction in a low-level stack position or an intermediate-stack position, or stack on said lower container in a high-stack position, depending upon the orientation of said upper container with respect to said lower container. Opposing first and second wall structures of said container comprise bar members which extend in an upwardly direction between a lower border flange and an upper rim. Said bar members are arranged such that the bar members of an upper container parallel the bar members of a lower container when said upper container is stacked within said lower container. If desired, "blind stacking" means can be provided for blind stacking the containers at said low-level stack position and said intermediate-level stack position.

  • Patent number: 3940018
Abstract: A combined container and dispenser for liquids such as milk and the like comprises a reusable, rigid case having an open top, and containing a flexible plastic bag filled with liquid, the bag having a dispensing tube extending therefrom near one end of the case to enable dispensing of the liquid by gravity after the case is disposed on its one end in an appropriate dispenser. The case includes a pair of pivotally mounted brackets adapted to be pivoted or folded over the open top of the case into a closed position to retain the filled bag in the case during dispensing of the liquid. When the brackets are in their closed position, overlying the open top of the case, the dimensions of the case correspond to those of the standard disposable bulk milk box that fits within a standard bulk milk dispensing cabinet. When closed the brackets increase the width dimension of the case.
