Abstract: A catheter enclosure device for locking an intravenous catheter therein with tamper-evident features to deter unauthorized use. The catheter enclosure device may be particularly useful for peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC). The enclosure device comprises an open-top box and a removable lid for covering the box. The open-top box has a compartment for holding the proximal end of an intravenous catheter. The lid comprises a panel for covering the open portion of the open-top box and a folding wing that overhangs the forward end of the box when covering the box. The folding wing further comprises a retaining anchor. When the folding wing is folded down, the retaining anchor inserts into a locking slot on the forward end of the box, thereby preventing the lid from being removed off the box. Also disclosed are methods for using the catheter enclosure device.

The third and fourth side walls each may include fold locations that divide the third and fourth side walls into a first part and a second part. The partition may engage the third and fourth side walls to inhibit folding of the third and fourth side walls.

Abstract: Packing tray for protecting fragile and perishable food items, such as pears, which allows fruit items of varying dimensions and weights to be held securely in each pocket, and which allows a plurality of stacked trays and fruit to be packaged in boxes (e.g., standard carton sizes). The tray is a plastic foam sheet having a top wall and a plurality of recessed cell pockets, each cell pocket having a relatively thinner cell sidewall with expandable (accordion-like) flutes, and a relatively thicker bottom wall also with expandable flutes. This construction allows the cell bottoms in adjacent pockets and in adjacent trays of the stack to move relative to one another to accommodate various sizes and weights of fruit while still protecting the fruit from damage.

The receptacles are designed to resist movement of the eggs from their resting orientation during marking, shipping or handling. Optionally, guidance and stabilizing features may cooperate to maintain eggs in a desired resting orientation.

Abstract: Transparent egg cartons suitable for being made from a variety of transparent polymeric materials and particularly from polylactic acid or other biodegradable polymers are described. The egg cartons use a “W” shaped hinge or box hinge element for hingedly connecting the lid to the tray or a flap to the tray. The flap is made with lattice struts to increase the lateral strength thereof, and contains at least three button tabs for interlocking the flap with the lid. The lateral most button tabs are located about ?th the length of the flap from the ends of the flap. The egg cartons have an awning portion that extends from the front surface of the lid to cover the “W” shaped hinge or box hinge when the lid is closed. A space is provided between the edge of the awning and the hinge for a consumer to place a finger for disengaging the lid from the flap.

The holders are separated from each other by a standing wall. Recommended for larger objects such as apples and the like are holders with the upper part in folded-back form, particularly those wherein the rib profiling of the upper and lower parts take an integral form and thereby enclose firmly the object for transporting (FIG. 4b). Smaller objects can advantageously be transported on a mattress of upper parts of smaller holders (FIG. 5b).

Abstract: A container is disclosed having a base, opposed side walls, and a rear wall. The base has an upper surface with a downward slope (&agr;) towards the rear wall. The rear wall has a surface which is preferably angled to be perpendicular to the upper surface of the base. Such a configuration permits squared items to be stored within the container on a edge while maintaining full contact along an adjacent edge with the rear wall. The side walls and rear wall are hingedly attached to the base and connected to one another using interlocking connectors along juxtaposed edges. Alternatively, the present invention may include a double sloped base upper surface angled toward a center wall panel. The surfaces on each side of the center wall are preferably sloped to be perpendicular to the upper surface of the adjacent base upper surface. A double-sloped container using at least one center wall panel is also disclosed with similar features to the single-sloped container.

Abstract: A tray for packaging sliced tomatoes is disclosed that maintains the tomatoes is fresh condition by controlling the atmosphere surrounding the tomatoes and reducing contact between tomatoes and their serum exudate. This is achieved by a tray configuration that holds the tomato above the exudate which is collected in a reservoir at the base of the tray. Means are provided to facilitate loading tomatoes into the tray and for removing the tomatoes from the tray.

Abstract: An egg carton having a unique compartment or compartments for other ingredients or elements such as those for an omelette, other egg dishes, or for painting Easter eggs. The compartment or compartments accommodate sufficient ingredients for substantially all the eggs in the carton. In one embodiment, the compartments are located in each one half of the carton and the carton can be split.
