Publication number: 20010045372Abstract: A compressible pet product in a packaged system including both methods and specific types of packaging addresses the need for a fully recoverable, reduced-volume package. The system may involve initially folding the pet product and the like and wrapping the pet product for insertion into a bag or other flexible encasing. This bag may then be compressed externally or through evacuation. If the compression occurs through evacuation, the flexible encasing may act in conjunction with the ambient pressure environment to hold the pet product in a compressed state. An outer encasing may then be placed over the compressed pet product to hold it in a compressed state before releasing the compressed pet product to the ambient pressure environment. Alternatively, the compressed pet product may be compressed without an encasing such as through a mechanical compression element and extruded into an outer encasing.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 1997Publication date: November 29, 2001Inventors: DENNIS M. Patent number: 6026959Abstract: A one-time resealable protective kit for medical sharps has a stiff body which has a predetermined shape for initially packaging a medical sharps and for receiving the used medical sharp. The stiff body is designed so as to prevent the blade or needle of the medical sharps from piercing the stiff body. The protective kit has a resealable cover and a lower attachment mechanism that can be used to affix the protective kit to a table or other suitable surface. In operation, the protective kit is releasably secured to a table or other suitable surface by contacting the attachment mechanism to the surface. The user then peels back the cover of the protective kit to access the medical sharp. Once the medical sharp has been used, it is replaced into the body of the protective kit. The cover can then be closed over the body of the protective kit, effectively sealing the medical sharp inside the protective kit. The entire protective kit can then be safely disposed of in accordance with standard medical practices.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1998Date of Patent: February 22, 2000Assignee: Protec Medical CorporationInventor: Kim H. Patent number: 5993921Abstract: A cover for sealing a munition within a canister has an inner layer of tempered glass bonded by an adhesive to an outer layer of structural foam having at least one score mark thereon. Upon launch of the munition, the inner layer of tempered glass breaks into numerous fragments which remain bonded to the outer layer of scored foam by the adhesive layer. The outer layer of foam then breaks along its score marks into two or more pieces that have pieces of the inner layer of glass bonded thereto. The pieces of foam with glass fragments bonded thereto are then blown out and away from the canister so that the munition can egress unimpeded and undamaged from the canister. A method for sealing a munition within a canister until munition launch includes the step of sealing the munition within the canister by a cover having an inner layer of tempered glass bonded by an adhesive to an outer layer of structural foam having at least one score mark thereon.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventor: David Lynn Hunn
