  • Patent number: 10292709
Abstract: The device for sutureless repair of an injured (severed) nerve includes a securement band connected by a transparent membrane to form a loop. The band includes two opposing approximation claws that extend into the region of the transparent membrane. An aperture in the transparent membrane is covered by an enclosure having an inlet nozzle and an outlet nozzle. An elongate member having a blade on its bottom end extends through an aperture in the top of the enclosure. The band is strapped around the patient's limb with the transparent membrane adhesively secured over the incision, the severed nerve ends are irrigated with saline and air is evacuated in the process. The blade incises the severed ends of the nerve to expose fresh nerve tissue under vacuum, and the severed ends are approximated. The device is left in place for the severed nerve ends to reunite.

  • Patent number: 9045268
Abstract: A collapsible container has a front face and a collapsible backing, wherein the container volume decreases as product is removed, and the collapsible backing collapses by vacuum as the container volume decreases. The front face may be flexible and thus susceptible to losing its original shape as the container volume decreases, but is nevertheless designed to retain its shape by having a frame around at least a portion of its perimeter. The front face may instead be adapted to retain its shape as the collapsible backing collapses upon a decrease in the container volume. The collapsible container is of particular beneficial use in a dispenser housing having a sight window in a front wall thereof, the sight window being aligned with the front face of the collapsible container.

  • Publication number: 20150129454
Abstract: A container 22 includes a shell 24 made from a polymer, for example PET, and incorporating a catalyst, for example a palladium catalyst. A closure 40 incorporates a plug which includes a source of hydrogen, for example a hydride. In use, with container 22 including a beverage and closure 40 in position, the headspace in the container will be saturated with water vapor. This vapor contacts the hydride associated with plug 42 and as a result the hydride produces molecular hydrogen which migrates into the polymer matrix of shell 24 and combines with oxygen which may have entered the container through its permeable walls. A reaction between the hydrogen and oxygen takes place, catalysed by the catalyst, and water is produced. Thus, oxygen which may ingress the container is scavenged and the contents of the container are protected from oxidation.

  • Publication number: 20140367300
Abstract: A chelating system for inclusion in a composition at least stored in a polymer lined metal passivated steel container which provides for stability of both the composition and the container. The composition preferably is a cleaning composition including a color-changing dye or indicator. The chelating system provides for stable storage of the composition through preventing degradation of the dye/indicator over an extended storage time. The chelating system included in the composition has a low affinity for the passivation metal on the steel container which provides for stability of the polymer liner present over the passivation layer and, thus, provides for the stability of the container. A preferred combination is a cleaning composition including (a) tetrasodium iminodisuccinate as the chelant and (b) a pH sensitive color-changing dye/indicator, in combination with a PET-lined chromium passivated tin-free steel container.

Abstract: The invention relates to compositions that can be used to adsorb low concentration, preferably, for example less than 15 ppm, of unwanted or target substances. Typically the absorbance can be from an enclosed vapor phase. Such absorbency is accomplished in a contained substantially enclosed gaseous volume or atmosphere using a composition comprising a cyclodextrin compound and a polyethylenimine that can have an absorbency capability for low concentrations of unwanted or target substances. Such absorbency can be obtained with thermoplastic materials used in the form of bulk polymer or a film, fiber, web, woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, sheet, packaging and other such structures including or surrounding the enclosed volume. The adsorbent of the invention is typically used in the context of an enclosed volume, also known as an enclosed ambient vapor phase that contains the adsorbent of the invention and the unwanted or target substances at a concentration that is not desirable.

The processing step may advantageously be performed by heating the packaging material. Preferably, the processing step involves accelerating diffusion from the packaging material of protein reactive substances or compounds. Abstract: A uniformly premixed sealant is extruded into a packaging form and allowed to pressure equilibrate prior to freezing. Upon warming the sealant begins to cure. The storage of the preformed sealant formulation under cold conditions arrests the activity of cure catalysts and accelerators mixed therethrough. The sealant is readily extruded into a preform shape containing a lightweight filler. A release film is provided to avoid contact with the sealant preformed in a shape during application to a substrate.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a container for the collection and temporary storage of amalgams and other mercury wastes. The container can include a hollow body with air-tight lid, and one or more mercury sorbents contained in a filter bag. The filter bag covers the inside surface of the hollow body and has holes that allow air exchange between the air in the hollow body and the sorbents. As air exchange occurs, mercury vapors released from dental wastes binds to the mercury binding materials. A self-closing door was made on the lid, which automatically closes after each waste disposal.
