Abstract: A reel griping device includes a clamp capable of being removably secured to an end of a spool of heavy gauge wire. At a first end of the clamp is an adjustable wire securing device which utilizes a pair of springs to bias a pair of respective jaws against the unit of wire being fed from the spool through the device. There exist different embodiments to provide an adjustment means to the clamping force.

Abstract: A measurement device can be attached to an outer wall of a movable object or of a stationary object arranged in a flow of air in order to measure physical quantities. The measurement device includes a mounting which has recesses having an opening leading to the outside, sensors being provided in said recesses. The device includes a cavity into which the recesses lead and which contains a flexible printed circuit, to which the sensors are connected. The method for manufacturing such a device includes the following steps: attaching sensors to the flexible printed circuit; and attaching the flexible printed circuit provided with sensors to the mounting, the sensors being inserted into the recesses and the circuit being inserted into the cavity.

The walls define an interior space (26) and an upper portion, the upper portion defining a sealing flange (30) and an opening to the interior space. The collar (14) is attached to the upper portion. The lid 816) is attached to the collar (14) for positioning between an open position and a closed position, and adapted to cover the opening while in the closed position. The latch (200) is attached to an outer surface of the lid (16). The latch may have an actuator (202) rotatable in two directions relative to the lid and detachably engaged to a catch (220) which protrudes from an outside surface of the collar (14).

Abstract: A cable tidying device includes a bracket mounted to a cabinet, a bobbin for wrapping cables inserted into the cabinet, and a locating member for locating the bobbin. The bracket includes a positioning plate defining a positioning hole and a first groove surrounding the positioning hole. The bobbin includes a wrapping axis extending through the first groove, and a driving portion extending from the wrapping axis. The locating member includes a spine plate, a fixing portion, and a spring resisting between the fixing portion and the positioning plate. The spine plate includes a main body, a protruding post protruding from the main body, and a plurality of ratchets spaced from each other. The fixing portion is attached to the protruding post. The driving portion engages with a different ratchet to locate the bobbin in a different position of the first groove.

Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement of multiple identification plates (10) for identifying objects. Each identification plate (10) has a flat material strip which has a front surface and a rear surface, which extends in a longitudinal direction between two ends, and which has at least one fixing tab (16), the tab being connected to the front surface and extending at a distance from the front surface in some sections. According to the invention, a base (40) is provided on which the identification plates (10) are removably fixed, the identification plate front surfaces and rear surfaces each lying on one plane, and the base (40) has a number of fixing openings (42), the number corresponding to the number of fixing tabs. One of the fixing tabs (16) protrudes through each of the fixing openings, and the fixing tabs (16) are removably fixed to the base (40).

Abstract: A sheet roll comprises two glass films and a coupling portion, wherein end portions of the glass films are coupled together via the coupling portion and the coupled glass films are rolled into a roll shape. The coupling portion is a sheet-like coupling member formed of a resin film and placed on the end portions of the two glass films in a rolling direction so as to span therebetween. The sheet-like coupling member includes wide joint portions joined respectively to the end portions of the two glass films, and a necked portion which is narrower than the wide joint portions and is formed at a middle portion of the sheet-like coupling member in the rolling direction.

The coil securing portion and the collapsing portion cooperatively define a substantially tubular interior region and an opening, wherein the interior region is configured to receive a coil portion inserted through the opening when the coil retainer is in an open position. Abstract: A single piece edge protector for curved and curvilinear-shaped objects includes a preformed, rigid, laminated U-board having a bottom wall, and a first sidewall, and a second sidewall which include preformed angled cuts. The preformed cuts are formed at about 15 degrees from a plane perpendicular to the bottom wall. Each sidewall of the edge protector is a mirror-image of the other such that a preformed cut on the first sidewall is directly across from a preformed cut on the second sidewall. A plurality of preformed cuts form both V-shaped openings and a plurality of trapezoid-like legs on the first and second sidewalls. Each leg may have a similar surface area or a different surface area as an adjacent leg along the length of the edge protector. The edge protector is configured to follow a curvilinear perimeter of about 135 degrees and may include an end cap closure.

Abstract: A retainer for maintaining a tubular sheath used to store a catheter guide wire in a coiled configuration includes a body having a bottom defining a plurality of substantially parallel channels. Each channel is designed to closely receive a coil of the tubular sheath. A loop is affixed to and extends adjacently above the body and defines an aperture therethrough for receiving and guiding the catheter guide wire after removal of the guide wire from the tubular sheath.

Abstract: A dispenser system having an integral sealing mechanism for resealing a severed end of a moisture-activated medical bandaging product. A sliding door closes the front of the dispenser system. The sliding door is raised and lowered by a handle preferably having a mechanical advantage. When raised, the sliding door's lower extreme defines a dispensing opening with the bottom of the box. A length of medical bandaging product can be pulled through this opening. When a user closes the door, the door's bottom extreme forms a tang and clevis interface which pinches the sleeve of the medical bandaging product and thereby form a moisture proof seal.

Abstract: Body fluid testing device for analyzing a body fluid comprises a test media tape adapted to collect the body fluid. The test media tape comprises a tape and test media portions. A free tape portion without test medium is located between successive test media portions. The testing device further comprises a supply portion. The supply portion comprises a housing in which uncontaminated test media tape is contained. The housing further has an opening for withdrawing test media tape from the housing. The testing device further has a sealing means for closing the opening against the surrounding. A free tape portion of the test media tape is located between a wall of the housing and the sealing means when the sealing means closes the opening. Further aspects concern a test media cassette with sealing means and a method for providing test media while holding them sealed against humidity during onboard storage.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of forming coreless rolls of pressure sensitive adhesive tape involves the use of a mandrel assembly having a specific circumferential tape supporting segment thereon for winding tape. The circumferential tape supporting segment has a tape engaging surface portion that, in a radial orientation, is compressible yet sufficiently stiff to support the tape as it is successively wound about the mandrel to form a tape roll, and that is sufficiently pliant to permit ready axial removal of a wound tape roll from the shaft. The innermost wrap of pressure sensitive adhesive tape about the mandrel is masked by an adhesive liner. That liner is formed from one portion of a liner/tab segment which had been applied to the tape previously, and prior to winding, the tape is severed, and the remainder of that liner/tab forms an end tab on the outermost end of the previously formed coreless tape roll.

The hook members and openings in the band are longitudinally aligned so that the band is held on the reel assembly in an end-to end relationship.

Abstract: A two part clamshell web cassette is provided with a central recess for receiving a web roll core. The core and cassette half shells have mating surfaces which form a labyrinth light seal when the cassette is closed and which prevent rotation of the core during handling of the cassette to provide a core brake. Surfaces on the cassette parts clamp the web rail of a partially dispensed web roll when the cassette is closed. The core brake and web clamping surfaces facilitate transport of the cassette without loss of intra-roll web tension. The cassette is provided with a latch for retaining the cassette half shells in a closed light sealed condition. A frangible covering over a latch release means indicates when broken that the cassette may have been opened prematurely. The cassette further includes a web end retaining means which retains the web end portion to the underlying convolution.

The enclosure comprises a flexible opaque bag with opposite sidewalls extending between opposing rearward and forward portions and opposing upper and lower portions. Each sidewall has a central aperture therein congruent with each core end. The rearward portion defines a closable opening for receiving the roll. A shallow neck portion projects from the forward portion to an end thereof defining an exit slot for dispensing the web material. A collar fits tightly inside each core end, with an annular flange thereon facing axially outward. An annular ring is attachable to each collar in spaced, inward-facing relation to the flange.

Abstract: A tying and storage ring for a reel of recording tape has a strip of extensible flexible material intended for surrounding a reel. It is equipped with closing means having a buckle made in one piece with a suspension hook and fastened rigidly to one of the ends of the strip, this buckle, when under tension, catching on a boss formed on the other end of the strip. The buckle has an orifice surrounding the boss and its sides have gripping means. The strip can also have a protective boss located very near the end of the buckle or, in an alternative embodiment, the end of the buckle has a sloping front face preventing the buckle from being caught accidentally.

Abstract: A container for shipping and handling a motion picture film of feature length ready for projection using turntable-type projection equipment without the need for splicing or cutting the film. The device has spaced upper and lower main walls with central openings, an inner ring between the main walls removably secured to the lower wall and providing for film attachment, an outer annular wall extending between the main walls near the peripheral edges and preferably an inner annular wall near the central openings, and devices drawing the main walls together to close the container. Preferred embodiments have the outer and inner annular walls affixed to the upper wall such that the lower main wall forms a substantially flat disk without substantial projections, to facilitate film removal and rewinding during first and last showings of the film at a theater. Other features relate to inner ring characteristics aiding attachment and removal.

Abstract: A ring for sealing and storage, a spool of recording tape comprising a band of flexible and extensible matter intended for surrounding a spool and equipped with a hook and a loop for closure and tension. The band, the loop and its link for hingeing onto the band, are all in one piece, the hingeing of the link being ensured by zones of reduced thickness. The whole is moulded on the flat, since when the link is made to pivot backwards the first time, being equipped with ramps it passes by a column by elastic deformation, a return of the link into the original position being then prevented so as to obtain a pre-hooking position of the loop.

The tube comprises a flexible tube body capable of being coiled and having a projecting member extending outwardly from the tube body longitudinally along at least a substantial portion of the length of the tube body. A concave member extends along at least a substantial portion of the tube body in a diametrically opposed position from the projecting member. The concave member is positioned and preportioned to receive the projecting member of another portion of the tube in retentive relation when the tube is coiled.

The package according to the invention comprises a supporting carrying construction (2) mounted on one side of the ring-shaped bundle (1). The supporting construction (2) can comprise an inner annular flat slab (3) the inside diameter of which essentially corresponds to the inside diameter of the ring-shaped bundle (1), and an outer (4) flat slab engaging the inner slab (3). The outer slab has a circular opening, the diameter of which is somewhat smaller than the outside diameter of the inner slab (3). The inner slab (3) is disposed concentrically with the circular opening of the outer slab (4) which it overlaps.

Abstract: An improved reel for dispensing threaded-pipe sealing tape is disclosed, wherein a tape retarding element is provided and mounted for circular movement about the periphery of the reel. The tape retarding element is mounted between the side flanges of the reel so that an applied force must be tangentially directed thereto to overcome the friction between the tape retarding element and the side flange portions between which the tape retarding element is mounted. The tape retarding element allows for the paying out of the tape for its wrapping about the threaded end of a pipe, but prevents the accidental unwinding of the tape upon the dropping of the reel from a user's hand.

The tab comprises a sheet of non-porous, moisture-resistant, adhesive-free material which is adherable to the exposed end of the tape when the tape is stored between use. A spool is rigidly secured to the base and extends outwardly from the base. The lid and the base are connected together by a hinge, with the lid enclosing the spool when the compartment is closed. The spool has on one side a recess for receiving water ski floats. On the bottom of the base, a depression extends inwardly into the spool. This depression has a flange that encircles and overlies part of the depression. The flange serves as a handle for the compartment.

Abstract: A sealing and storage ring comprising a flexible band member, having opposite end portions, which includes a latch member pivotally mounted on one end portion by a latch mounting member fixedly attached thereto and a keeper device integrally formed on the other end portion for holding the latch member in a latched position. The latch mounting member has an elongated slot which receives a pin device on the latch member. A plurality of abutment surfaces on the latch member are engageable with a plurality of abutment surfaces on the latch mounting member and on the keeper member to hold the latch member in the latched position.

Abstract: A reel and sealing ring assembly for computer tape is provided with a unique formation on one edge of the sealing ring. Further provided is a complimentary formation on one flange of the reel and an uncomplimentary portion on the other flange of the reel. The uniqueness of these formations guards against mismatching the labeled sealing ring of one assembly with the labeled reel of another assembly.

Abstract: This device is a film retainer for reel stored film comprising of a closed loop of elastic mesh material which is relatively inelastic in a transverse direction and relatively elastic in a longitudinal direction, with the extension of the elastic material at least 50%. The mesh is open to the degree that at least 50% to aid in viewing all printed matter on the leader of the film. A tag, for use in placement and removal of the loop as well as for identification purposes, is secured at one end of the loop and is of sufficient length to extend beyond the edge of the reel when the retainer is placed on a roll of film on a reel.

Abstract: The tail of a roll of fibrous web material is secured to underlying layers through penetration of the layers by a row of needles extending tangentially of the roll and in the same direction that the tail extends or is presented. Penetration is to a depth of about 6 layers, and is accompanied by punching out a very small tab of each layer and pushing it into the opening of the successive, underlying layer thereby to lock the tail in place. Pulling the tail to unwind layers from the roll pulls the tabs from succeeding layers in the direction of unwinding, without tearing the outer layer.

Abstract: A roll of tack-strip is supported on a cradle of rollers carried by a wheeled frame. The tack-strip having its tack-point side down, extends over a bristle guide roller and through a nip formed by and between a pair of bristle rollers to a nailing station located at a lower rear corner portion of the machine. As the frame is pushed by an operator around the perimeter of a room the tack-strip is unwound from the roll, guided into a position on the floor next to a wall or the like, and nailed into place. A cutter located between the roll and a nailer is operable by the push of a button to cut the tack-strip at the end of a run. The machine is operable to feed out a measured length of tack-strip while the machine is not moving, so that the operator can cut off short lengths of tack-strip. The nailer is removably mounted within the machine so that the operator can lift it out of the machine and use it for installing the short lengths at locations where the machine cannot be used for installing the tack-strip.

Abstract: A light weight, electrical equipment, cable interconnection assembly which is easily transported and deployed for use, and which is unobtrusive when in use. It comprises a flat cable (20), including a number of parallel conductor wires, carried on a rotatable reel (10). The cable free end terminates in a connector (22) which mates with a termination box (46) to which various equipments can be connected, thus connecting them to the cable wires. The reel end of the cable terminates in a connector (24) mounted within a side plate (16) of the reel, and an electrical harness (25) is provided mating with the reel connector (24) for interconnecting the cable wires with various equipments near the reel. Stand means (34) are provided which alternately serve as means for rotatably mounting the reel or for carrying the reel, and retention means (27, 28, 29) are provided for locking the cable on the reel during shipping and handling.

The channel is operative for receiving a length of roll film which extends out of the cartridge when the latter is inserted into the chamber. Spring elements bias the ring into a contracted shape to radially restrain a disc retained between the pair of covers. A platform, mounted on a base of a disc record player system, horizontally supports the caddy in an elevated position over a turntable of the system and includes means for expanding the ring to release the covers. A turntable spindle incorporates a lowering/lifting mechanism which lowers the cover nearest the turntable and the disc supported thereon onto the turntable for record playback purposes, the other cover being retained at the platform level by the radially inward extension of the land defined between the ring channels.

Abstract: An improved attaching clip is disclosed for use with a roll of steel wire mesh reinforcing that is designed to be utilized in concrete negative buoyancy coatings. The clip is secured to the leading or free end of the roll and may be used to connect the leading end of the roll to the remaining portion of the roll so as to prevent the unrolling of the roll during storage and handling. The clip may also be utilized to connect the leading end of the roll to the trailing end of another similar roll of steel wire mesh reinforcing so that the two rolls form a continuous strip of steel wire mesh reinforcing so as to facilitate the installation of the reinforcing.

Abstract: A device for holding film strips and the like in proper position on spiral reels or the like such that the film will be held onto the reel in proper spaced relation to permit the flow of the developer about the film for development thereof. The device includes a longitudinally extending body having a transverse dimension which will permit the device to extend across the width of the film and thus the corresponding spiral reel to contact the edges of the film and hold the same against the spirally formed elements of the reel. The device is designed to lock into the reel between the spiral elements thereof and may be used for full or partial strips of film.

Abstract: An improved self threading leader for a reel of recording tape which engages only itself as it is wrapped around the supply reel to maintain the reel's integrity and which engages a take-up hub to begin winding therearound when the reel is used with a tape transport unit of the type having a capstan to drive a supply reel and take-up hub by surface contact.
