Abstract: A medication dispenser is described. A plurality of drawers capable of storing medications is arranged in an array. For personal use, each drawer has an illuminatable number thereon representing a date in a month. For institutional use, each drawer has an associated adjacent illuminatable patient identification section. Illuminatable numbers in a row above the drawers correspond to hours in a day wherein a current time is displayed by illuminating one of the numbers. Rechargeable batteries maintain a memory capable of storing information about when each of a plurality of medications is to be taken. When the current time matches a time when one of the medications is to be taken, a number on the drawer corresponding to a current date or the particular patient identification section is illuminated. A sensor senses when a particular drawer is opened and saves in memory the current time and drawer identification.

Abstract: A package includes a box and an insert. The box includes a front wall and defines a compartment therein. The front wall defines an open window between a top window edge and a bottom window edge of the front wall. The open window provides direct access to the compartment. The insert is maintained within the compartment and defines a top chamber panel adjacent the top window edge, a rear chamber panel, and a bottom chamber panel adjacent the bottom window edge. The insert is maintained within the compartment such that the bottom chamber panel divides the compartment into at least an open chamber and a closed chamber. The open chamber is defined immediately adjacent the open window between the top chamber panel and the bottom chamber panel. The closed chamber is defined on a side of the bottom chamber panel opposite the open chamber.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure involve a pill-filtering article that is located and secured inside a pill container. According to one example embodiment, an assembly of articles distributes one pill at a time in the form of a single-pill dispensing apparatus that includes a pill-storage container and such a pill-filtering article. The container has an inner wall, an upper portion with a rim region where a cap may be secured, and a lower portion for containing pills. The pill-filtering article has a size and a shape that facilitates securing the article inside the pill-storage container near the inner wall, above the lower portion, and below the upper rim region, and also configured with a plurality of channel-defining regions including a first channel-defining region through which one-pill at a time passes and including a second channel-defining region through which one pill at a time passes.

Abstract: A pill assembly configured to receive the correct selection of medications in the correct dosages for a particular patient. The pill assembly comprises containers wherein at least one of the containers is configured to receive a plurality of different pills. The containers are adjacent to one another. The pill assembly also comprises a plurality of lids. Each of the lids is configured to seal a corresponding container. The containers have a top surface with a flange that is configured to receive the corresponding lid. Each lid has a surface that is configured to receive a printable indicia with patient specific information. The pill assembly may also comprise a sleeve that is configured to slidably interface with the containers.

Abstract: This invention relates to a compliance blister package comprising a matrix of blisters arranged in a plurality of columns and plurality of rows which comprises a combination of one of the fixed dose combination dosage form comprising two or more therapeutically active ingredients loaded into blisters of one of the columns and the other dosage form which comprises one or more of therapeutically active ingredient form loaded into the successive column blisters for once a day administration or concurrent administration.

A medication package is formed from a package back pane and blister housing, and filled in accordance to a prescription order. The package back pane has a medication housing color pattern that contrasts medication colorings of a prescribed medication, such that a number of empty medication blisters can be determined from a package image matrix generated by analyzing the medication housing color pattern, the medication colorings, and a plurality of reference marks on the package back pane from a captured image of the medication package. The package image matrix is compared to a previous package image matrix in order to determine if the prescribed medication has been administered properly. A unique prescription code of the medication package can program a processor with a scheduling profile, medication order information, and the package image matrix.

The compartments further include numbered indicia on the lid thereof. The housing further includes a digital display thereon for showing the day of the month, and optionally the full date and time. A notepad is provided on the housing for allowing the user to write notes and reminders regarding his or her medication. Thus, the present invention provides a device that allows a user to more easily store and organize his or her medications.

Abstract: A package for products packed in blister packs comprises a housing, a tray-shaped slide which is slidably accommodated in the housing in a sliding direction as well as a number of blister packs stacked inside the tray-shaped slide. The tray-shaped slide comprises a bottom wall and side walls connected to the bottom wall. The tray-shaped slide is provided with a pen, while each blister pack is provided with an passage, wherein the pen of the tray-shaped slide extends through the passages of all blister packs stacked inside the tray-shaped slide.

Abstract: This invention provides capsules containing an emetic, which capsules can encapsulate a drug, wherein the amount of emetic and the amount of drug is such that the number of capsules needed to be ingested to cause emesis is fewer than the number of capsules needed to be ingested to cause overdose of the drug, so that if a person takes an overdose of the emetic encapsulated drug, he or she will vomit before the drug is absorbed by the body.

Abstract: A prescription pill vial with dosage indexer is disclosed. The prescription pill vial includes a body having a sidewall and bottom forming an enclosure for prescription medications. The sidewall extends below the bottom forming a cavity beneath the enclosure. A rosette is on the bottom of the body. The rosette has a plurality of detents thereon. An indexer is configured to fit into the cavity and rotate therewithin. The indexer has a spring-biased pawl that engages the detents on the rosette, limiting the rotation of the indexer to a number of predefined positions corresponding to the detents on the rosette.

The dial points to the dose indicia and holds the three parts together once the pin from the base disk clasp inside its aperture.

The data-enabled pharmaceutical container includes control electronics for processing and communicating information about valid dose events and/or dose exception events. For example, using a dose detection algorithm, a dose event is deemed valid based on (1) sensing the open state of the data-enabled pharmaceutical container (e.g., sensing that the closure is not present), (2) sensing a certain orientation or tilt of the data-enabled pharmaceutical container, and (3) sensing that the data-enabled pharmaceutical container is both opened and tilted simultaneously for a certain amount of time (e.g., a few seconds).

In one implementation, the medicine dispenser includes a cylindrical container and a disk-shaped cap having a cylindrical rim and an inner schedule display. An indication on or within the inner schedule display is displayed to a medicine consumer through an aperture in the cylindrical rim of the cap. Features included in the cap, schedule display, and cylindrical container interoperate to ensure that the displayed indication is advanced when the cap is removed from, and subsequently replaced on, the container. The displayed indication is relatively large and clear, to facilitate viewing by vision-impaired users, and the schedule-advancement mechanism is robust and reliable. In addition, the cap and inner schedule display include features that allow the displayed indication to be set to a particular indication.

Abstract: A system is provided for monitoring the removal of blister pack contents. An array of spatially-extended, electrically parallel breakable traces made from electrically resistive material is formed behind a corresponding array of blisters of a blister card. Then this array is connected in series with a reference resistor to form a voltage divider. All resistive traces are formed from the same materials in a single operation. Blister breakage is determined using changes in the ratio of the resistances of the array and the divider. A predictive algorithm is used to adjust the threshold resistance ratio change that signals blister breakage and voltage ratios are used to adjust for battery output changes over time. Breakage events and their time of occurrence are recorded in nonvolatile memory for later retrieval. Additional resistors can be used for activating the system and detecting tampering.

Abstract: Tubes for storing unit doses of drugs are disclosed, the tubes may include an elongate outer casing having two open ends, an inner structure inside said casing, which includes two opposite symmetrical walls connected at the ends thereof and ribbed on the inner surfaces thereof such as to enable the insertion and fastening of a blister pack containing a unit dose of a drug in channels opposite to said walls, and a pulling means for inserting and extracting the inner structure from the outer casing. Devices and methods for filling the tube with unit doses of drugs is also disclosed, along with cabinets for dispensing unit doses of drugs from said storage tube.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improved sealing sheet for use to close a container-defining sheet having a top surface comprising a given number of spaced apart cavities embossed therein, each of the cavities being upwardly opened and thus defining a container that is surrounded by a flange that is part of the top surface of the container-defining sheet. In a first configuration, the number of cavities made in the container-defining sheet is thirty-two, positioned in order to define eight rows and four columns. A row of containers is removable from the container-defining sheet towards a second configuration in which the number of cavities made in the container-defining sheet is twenty-eight. The set of containers can more efficiently cover a prescription that has to be administered over a monthly period, under different dosage schedule scenarios, while reducing unused sections of the resulting blister packs.

The cover construction and assembly ring are joined together to essentially form or close the cap assembly with the other parts coaxially aligned and operable therebetween. The device is help upright by a support structure to allow a user to access pill cases from each side of the device. The pill cases may be disposed between rails. An indicator may be attached to the rails thus allowing a user to indicate which pill cases, or compartments in pill cases do not have an adequate supply medicine.

Abstract: A blister pack is provided having a wireless identification device located at a predetermined position. A moldable blister web is mounted with wireless identification devices at selected positions corresponding to the size of the blister components to be molded from the web. When a cavity is molded in the web in manufacturing a blister pack, the pre-mounted wireless identification device will be located at a predetermined position in the blister pack. In one embodiment, RFID devices are used as the wireless identification devices. The RFID device is pre-mounted on the blister web so that it will be located at a flat surface of the blister pack or on a rounded surface. The RFID devices are pre-mounted, and then the blister is molded to have a cavity, the product is inserted into the cavity and a sealing package component is attached to the blister cavity to seal it.

Abstract: A medicine container configured to hold one or more different medications. The container may include an orientation sensor to determine the orientation of the container. The container may also include one or more additional sensors to detect other physical characteristics about the container and/or medicine. The lidding cover has printed material that identifies the locations of the indentations and the internal perforated boundaries of the four quadrants.
