  • Patent number: 10961470
Abstract: A system for upgrading a hydrocarbon feed includes a thermal hydrodealkylation unit and a hydrocracking unit. A method for reducing formation of heavy polynuclear aromatic compounds during hydrocracking includes contacting a hydrocarbon feed comprising polynuclear aromatic compounds with hydrogen at reaction conditions sufficient to hydrodealkylate at least a portion of the polynuclear aromatic compounds in the hydrocarbon feed to produce a hydrodealkylated effluent. The method can also include contacting at least a portion of the hydrodealkylated effluent with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrocracking catalyst, where the contacting causes at least a portion of hydrocarbons in the hydrodealkylated effluent to undergo hydrocracking to produce a hydrocracked effluent. The systems and methods may reduce or prevent formation of heavy polynuclear aromatic compounds in the hydrocracking unit by hydrodealkylating heavy polynuclear aromatic precursors in the hydrocarbon feed.

  • Patent number: 10729989
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for controlling an interface of a liquid-liquid extraction column using pressure equilibrium. The device includes a vertical pipe provided beside an extraction column parallel thereto. The device enables internal pressures of the extraction column and the vertical pipe to be balanced with each other by moving fluid from the extraction column into the vertical pipe. Therefore, the device can maintain the level of an interface between fluids having different specific gravities with a simple control system. The device includes the liquid-liquid extraction column having a column body; and upper and lower tanks having respective inlet pipes and respective outlet pipes, wherein a pipeline is connected to the outlet pipe of the lower tank, and the internal pressures are balanced by controlling a level of the fluid in the pipeline, thereby maintaining the level of the interface.

  • Patent number: 7727766
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of testing oil extraction processes including the steps of: 1) placing a sample to be tested in a sample holder which has a configurable temperature profile; 2) placing the sample holder in a pressure vessel; 3) increasing the pressure in the pressure vessel to simulate an over burden pressure; 4) configuring the temperature profile of the sample holder to match a desired temperature profile; 5) applying an oil extraction process to the sample; 6) measuring one or more parameters of the oil extraction process; 7) measuring the temperature of the sample to which the process is being applied; 8) configuring the sample holder to match the measured temperature profile. A device to test oil extraction processes on samples is disclosed. The device has a temperature configurable sample holder having sufficient temperature control to provide a desired heat profile to the sample.

  • Patent number: 6082782
Abstract: A connection fitting (1) is provided for fastening long bodies, such as hoses, particularly corrugated hoses (2), but also pipes or cables, to an opening (3), for example in a wall (4) of a housing. The fitting (1) has a fastening projection (5), protruding axially in the plug-in direction (Pf1), which is divided into retaining tongues (7) by slots (6). Retaining projections (8) are arranged protruding approximately radially outwardly from these retaining tongues. When the fastening projection (5) is inserted into the opening (3) or similar passageway, the retaining tongues (7) are deformed radially inwardly by an edge (10) of the opening (3) against a restoring force, and arrive at their fastening position beyond the opposing edge (9) of the opening (3), whereby the retaining projections (8) grasp behind this edge (9).

  • Patent number: 5447541
Abstract: Process for separating and purifying substances by crystallization from the melt under high pressuresIn the process for separating or purifying substances by crystallization from melts or highly concentrated solutions under high pressures, gas is dissolved in the melt to be crystallized and is expelled again after the crystallization with reduction in the pressure. Still adhering or occluded impurities are thus removed.

  • Patent number: 5447542
Abstract: In the process for separating and purifying substances by crystallization from the melt under pressure, the melt is subjected to pressure under an inert gas atmosphere and then cooled, whereupon it crystallizes. The residual melt is separated from the resulting crystals, after which the crystals are degassed by reducing the pressure and are caused to sweat, and the sweat oil is separated off.

  • Patent number: 4946940
Abstract: A separation process has been found in which a polymer-solvent solution separates into phases of highly different composition which are in equilibrium over a broad temperature range. Upon addition of the phase separating agent, which is near or above its supercritical conditions, rapid disengagement into two phases occurs. The relative volume of solvent rich phase is substantially larger than the polymer rich phase. The process can be practiced at relatively low temperatures such as those employed in polymerization or post-polymerization processes. The separation is accomplished by adding or elevating the concentration of a phase separation agent to or above a minimum effective concentration, which causes the UCST and LCST lines to merge. Suitable phase separating agents are organic and inorganic compounds that are gases at 1 atm pressure and 25.degree. C. Due to the gaseous nature of the phase separating agent, it is easily removed from the solvent phase for reuse in the process.
