  • Patent number: 10021895
Abstract: A method of coating a wide variety of foodstuffs with tasty marshmallow material simply by enclosing foodstuffs with marshmallows in the same container that permits gaseous venting, but otherwise secures the enclosed foodstuffs. Microwaving the container for one minute or less causes the marshmallow, responding to the microwaves, to radically expand many times its original size. The expanding marshmallow quickly and conveniently coats the secured foodstuffs in the container with a layer of marshmallow material to produce a tasty food treat. The addition of a stick or other handling means is highly desirable, as is a means of easily extracting the food treat from the enclosure and aids in keeping hands clean while eating the food treat.

Abstract: Underwater mineral dressing units, systems and methods are provided. Material is milled in a water-immiscible liquid which is heavier than water and lighter than the product material. Gangue material is removed by the milling and floats on the water-immiscible liquid to be removed without further processing. Product containing material sinks and is further milled to remove additional gangue material, until the required level of extraction is achieved. Cascades of milling rolls in the water-immiscible liquid allow ever improving extraction of the product material. The rolls are arranged to regulate material flow through the system to remove floating gangue while directing sinking product material to further processing.

Abstract: A method of separating tobacco from cigarette waste using an apparatus comprising a revolving screen, in which the cigarette waste is fed onto the screen in order to be screened by gravity. The method includes relocating the cigarette waste over the surface of the screen, the relocation being aided by a scraper unit cooperating with the screen and the angular position of the screen in the apparatus relative to the horizontal plane being adjustable. An apparatus is also provided for separating tobacco from cigarette waste comprising a revolving screen which is adjustably mounted in such a way that the angular position of the screen in the apparatus relative to the horizontal plane is adjustable, provided with a scraper unit for aiding relocation of the cigarette waste on the surface of the screen during its rotational movement.

Abstract: A rotary screen separator for processing feed material comprising liquids and solids, the rotary screen separator comprising a separator member, a collector structure, a drive system, and first and second vane structures. The separator member defines a first perforation region and a second perforation region. The collector structure defines a first material output and a second material output. The vane structures are supported relative to the separator member such that operation of the drive system to rotate the separator member causes the first vane structure to displace the feed material through the first perforation region at a first material displacement rate and the second vane structure to displace the feed material through the second perforation region at a second material displacement rate. The first material displacement rate is greater than the second material displacement rate.

Abstract: A processed DRI material having an average surface roughness (Ra) of less than 1.5 ?m is disclosed. A method and system for making processed DRI are also disclosed. One embodiment of the method and system may include assembling a rotatable chamber having an internal screen capable of supporting DRI during tumbling, with at least one opening in the chamber to permit fines to exit the chamber during tumbling, and delivering DRI into the chamber to tumble the DRI on the screen to remove fines from the DRI. Another embodiment of the method and system may include assembling a rotatable chamber having a feed end and an exit end, and having a screen therein capable of supporting DRI as the DRI moves through the chamber, and delivering DRI to the chamber and rotating the chamber to tumble the DRI while removing fines.
