Sight windows provide a means for visual inspection to monitor performance when making the adjustments for optimal results. The purpose of the aspiration hopper assembly is to allow good product to pass through the aspiration hopper in order to remove foreign material that is the similar size and lighter in density from good product.

An optional feature includes acquisition of chemical, biological, physical, or other parameters of the sample with one or more sensors positioned or positionable at the sample.

The assembly also includes a vibrator for vibrating the screens and a mechanism for sequentially depositing the aggregate material that is retained on each screen or that passes through all of the screens in the weighing pan.

The method involves separating coarse and fine components of the waste. The coarse components are conveyed by auger, gravity or other means to be measured by weight in a first hopper. The fine components are conveyed by gravity, blower, auger or other means to be measured by volume in a second hopper. Fresh materials may be added to both hoppers. The materials from both hoppers are then mixed together in a primary mixing chamber and finally conveyed into molds for curing before use.

The stack is clamped together and shaken as a unit to separate the respective fractions, following which the sieves are sequentially separated from the stack and inverted one at a time to dump the fraction retained on each, onto a scale. Each fraction is weighed separately and their relative proportions can be calculated automatically. In a preferred embodiment the sieves are individually cantilevered from a vertical conveyor. The sieves are inverted one by one to dump their contents by advancing them around a horizontal roll at a lower end of the conveyor.

The separated particles in each of the sieving sections are passed through a densimetric column containing a stream of pressure-adjustable air generated by a blower to remove impurities from the separated grain which is channeled into a weighing hopper which measures the weight of the grain or impurities and registers the information in a unit provided with data processing and recording circuits, including a microprocessor. Tachometers provide rotational speed pulses to rotation control circuits in the unit which provides an input to motor controllers associated with the motors driving the fans and the rotary sieve. Each of the rotation control circuits is provided with a motor-driven potentiometer coupled to an optical coded disc which provides an output to adjacently-positioned optical heads providing an input into the unit.
