  • Patent number: 5593042
Abstract: The novel invention proposes a final screen which is very reliable in operation and which is suitable more particularly also for building into a pneumatic conveying line. In a first section the material is distributed uniformly over the entire peripheral surface of the screen shell. The subsequent section is used for completing screening and separating the coarse material out through an outlet. A centrifuging rotor with helically arranged elastomeric cleaning lobes projecting from the centrifuging bars provide a high throughput and particularly damage-obviating discharge of even relatively large foreign bodies.

  • Patent number: 5268100
Abstract: A manure separating apparatus includes a trough with angularly bottom surfaces that converge downwardly to a discharge opening. A drain screen is located above the bottom trough surfaces and includes somewhat similarly angled downward converging infeed and discharge surfaces. The infeed section of the drain screen is approximately twice as long and at a smaller angle to the horizontal than the discharge screen section. A manure/liquid slurry may be introduced at a top infeed end of the screen and moved downwardly along the infeed section of the screen by a paddle conveyor. Separation of solids occurs primarily along the infeed screen section. The slurry is then moved angularly upwardly along the discharge section of the screen for final dewatering. The discharge section is spaced above the trough bottom to avoid liquids on the trough bottom below to facilitate dewatering of the solids before discharge.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing from soil particles within a predetermined size range, comprises a movable frame, and a digger attached thereto to excavate soil as the frame is moved. A first separater to which the excavated soil passes allows material of less than a first predetermined size to pass through and discards material of size greater than said first predetermined size. A second separater is adapted to retain material of size greater than a minimum of said predetermined size range and to discard material of size less than said minimum. The retained material is stored.

  • Patent number: 4899890
Abstract: A separating apparatus employs a foraminous drum with a resilient belt forming a nip therebetween. A take-up roller upstream of the nip is rotatably supported about a center of rotation that is parallel to, but offset from a central axis of the take-up roller. As the wobbling roller rotates, it constantly changes the point on the circumference of the foraminous drum at which contact is made with the resilient belt. This overcomes a tendency for entering items to bridge the nip.

  • Patent number: 4116824
Abstract: An automated wet sieving apparatus and process are provided comprising a wetting liquid distributor which is coupled by eccentric disks to a motor which drives the distributor in an orbital path for supplying the liquid onto a sieve. Means are provided for creating alternating vacuum and pressure below the sieve. The vacuum draws undersized particles whose size is being determined through the sieve and the pressure loosens blinding particles from the sieve. Preferably, the sieve is cyclically tilted as the wetting liquid is being distributed onto the sieve.

  • Patent number: 4000063
Abstract: An improved system for the production of digested pulp from wood chips and knots which includes a separating apparatus, connected to the digester output, capable of separating knots from partially cooked wood chips and fibers at the digester pressure and consistency. The separated fibers and fiber bundles pass to a refiner where the fiber bundles are mechanically reduced to fibers in a liquid environment at a high consistency and at the digester pressure. The knots are then re-cycled to the digester or other processes. The separating apparatus above uses a plurality of rotating members such as intermeshing screws or grooved rolls, arranged in a vertical screen to separate an inlet chamber from an outlet chamber. Knots cannot pass through the rotating members and thus are driven out of an outlet which communicates with the inlet chamber. The fibers, however, do pass through the rotating members to the outlet chamber and exit therefrom by a second outlet.
