  • Patent number: 5829597
Abstract: A air density separation has a vertical air separation chamber that opens downwardly to allow rejected material to fall out the chamber through the open bottom. The air density separator is configured to recirculate the air and entrained fines, and so minimizes emissions and costly air treatment processes. The air separation chamber is connected by a first duct to a cyclone. A fan is positioned adjacent the lower end of the air separation chamber, and draws air through a second duct out of the cyclone for reintroduction into the air chamber. The fan by way of the cyclone draws air through the first duct from the air separation chamber. The fan exhausts into the vertical air separation chamber below the material infeed through a plenum. An oscillating screen composed of bars extends into the separation chamber of the air density separator and is used to disperse material into the separation chamber.

  • Patent number: 5261540
Abstract: In a screening machine with a three-dimensional screening motion, a screen carrier for at least one screen plate is provided. The screen carrier is movable relative to a housing from which it is supported by springs. The screen carrier is driven by an electromagnetic drive device. The amplitude of oscillation of the screen carrier should be accurately readable, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, made adjustable for comparative tests. For this purpose, between the housing and the screen carrier an inductive displacement pickup for determining the amplitude of oscillation of the screen carrier is provided. This pickup is connected to a control unit which represents the determined amplitude of oscillation on an optical display and/or controls the electromagnet drive device to obtain a predetermined amplitude of oscillation.

  • Patent number: 4795552
Abstract: A horizontal vibrating multi-deck screen apparatus for separating different sizes of materials of generally the same type. The apparatus includes a first or upper screening basket and a second or lower screening basket. The upper screening basket has a feed chute at one end and a discharge chute at the opposite end. Each screening basket has at least one screen deck thereon for conveying and screening material. The two baskets are connected by a spring-type coupling system, including coil springs and fiberglass leaf springs. The two baskets together are supported by known types of support spring systems installed between the upper basket only and a base frame. Hence each basket constitutes one mass and each spring system one spring of a two-mass two-spring system. A pair of shaker motors mounted directly, one on each side, on the lower basket inputs a straight-line sinusoidal exciting force to the system. The exciting force and the spring forces are transmitted to both baskets and induce vibrations.

  • Patent number: 4250025
Abstract: A sieving device comprises a sieve with an electrical linear device mounted in spaced apart relation from the mesh of the sieve. Particles supplied to the side of the mesh away from the thrust device are caused by the thrust device to move across the mesh and those which are smaller than the mesh pass through the mesh and towards the thrust device. Conveniently a plate is disposed between the mesh and the plate. Particles passing through the mesh then come into contact with the plate and move along it under the influence of the thrust device.

  • Patent number: 4128161
Abstract: A vibratory feeder system includes a track having a linear, circular or helical configuration upon which articles that are to be transported are positioned. The vibratory feeder system further includes a support structure for supporting the track. The track and support structure are joined by resilient members of a configuration and dimension such that the track may move in a generally linear, reciprocative path relative to the support structure. The vibratory feeder further includes one or more self-contained, inertial drive elements wherein each drive element includes a rigid, nonmagnetic, cylindrical housing having end covers. Two iron stator cores are rigidly mounted within the housing and to the interior of one end cover thereof. Two resilient members having mounted at one end thereof a reciprocating armature are secured to the one end of the housing. A laminated iron armature core positioned so as to be spaced from the stator cores by an air gap is mounted on the armature.

  • Patent number: 3932442
Abstract: A process for screening materials as a function of particle size differences by feeding the materials onto one side of a substantially planar screen and vibrating the screen by producing a translational screen oscillation in directions normal to the screen plane and a torsional screen oscillation about an axis normal to the screen plane so that each point of the screen moves in a helical path. Screened material is collected at the other side of the screen and screened retentate is transported by the torsional screen oscillation to an exit port at a location spaced from the axis of torsional oscillation. The process is particularly applicable to shipboard or other mobile use, since the spring stiffness provides good structural support under tilt or side acceleration conditions.
