Patent number: 4935124Abstract: A rotatable wood chip thickness classifying device. The apparatus includes two coaxial, spaced sets of apertured discs, each set defining a drum. The interdisc spacing of each drum is uniform, each drum having a different interdisc spacing from the other drum. For each set of discs, the inside diameter of adjacent discs alternates. Wood chips are fed into the interior of the first drum, this drum having a typical disc interspacing of 2 mm. The common axis of drum rotation is slightly tilted to the horizontal and chips of less than 2 mm fall through the interdisc openings of the first drum. The remainder of the chips pass to the interior of the second drum, typically of 8 mm interdisc spacing. Chips less than 8 mm fall through the interdisc openings of the second drum. The alternation of inside disc diameters, for each drum, yields a chip tumbling effect to thereby inhibit an elongated chip, of a diameter of less than 2 mm for example, from straddling the 2 mm openings and not falling therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1989Date of Patent: June 19, 1990Assignee: International Paper CompanyInventors: William D. An inclined wall is disposed parallel to a space below the belt to slidingly engage the outward extending walls as they move therepast. A lower portion of the inclined wall is positioned over the reservoir, and an upper portion of the inclined wall extends outward from the reservoir, with the lower portion of the inclined wall perforated to allow vehicle to drain from the cake into the reservoir thus separating the cake and the vehicle. A discharge opening formed at an upper end of the inclined wall allows the separated cake to be discharged into a receptacle for collection.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1979Date of Patent: July 7, 1981Inventor: Michael J. Patent number: 4234413Abstract: A vibratory separator for separating drill solids from drilling mud after return from the well bore, including a separator screen and a screen cleaning device positioned adjacent the screen. The screen cleaning device is supported by suitable means to permit filtered mud to pass freely through the device for collection below. The screen is a fine wire mesh mounted in a unique manner to the separator housing such that it vibrates during operation of the system to keep drilling solids from clogging the wire mesh and restricting the flow of drilling mud. The screen cleaning device serves to support the screen and mud thereon in addition to vibrating and wiping the screen as the device rotates due to the orbital oscillatory vibrations of the system.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1979Date of Patent: November 18, 1980Inventor: Don D. Patent number: 4130478Abstract: An apparatus having a bowl-shaped screen with a large opening at the upper end thereof and a smaller opening at the lower end thereof for screening annularly distributed influent. An influent manifold is located above the screen to distribute influent downwardly into the upper opening. An effluent receiver is positioned about the screen while a concentrate receiver is positioned below the lower opening of the screen. A distributor cone is positioned in the upper opening to direct influent outwardly and downwardly to the screen. The cone is vertically adjustable to vary the size of the annular opening between the cone and the screen. The cone is also rotatably mounted to aid in uniformity of distribution. A tangential influent feed is employed to induce rotation of the distribution cone. A rotatably mounted backspray manifold extends about the screen with nozzles directed to induce rotation of the manifold.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1977Date of Patent: December 19, 1978Assignee: Sweco, Inc.Inventor: Douglas M. Patent number: 3972813Abstract: A method and separator for removing sugar crystals from a syrup. The syrup is continuously delivered to a space defined by an inner conical first perforated wall subjected to air pressure and an outer conical second perforated wall coaxial with the inner conical wall and subjected to a vacuum from outwardly of the space containing the syrup. The perforations subjected to a vacuum are restricted by projections on a plate that extend axially into corresponding perforations and are movable axially therein to maintain these perforations unobstructed by sugar crystals. Rotationally driven scrapers scrape the inner surfaces of the second perforated wall in synchronism with the projections extending into the perforations.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1974Date of Patent: August 3, 1976Inventor: Roman Ziolkowski

Patent number: 3946996Abstract: Apparatus for mixing and granulating a finely divided solid material, preferably including a screening of the final granular product, said apparatus including a mixing drum or cylindrical vessel with closable feed and discharge means, a rotatably driven shaft on the drum axis carrying conveyance means for mixing, stirring and conveying the solid material being treated, and pivotal support means to adjustably tilt the drum such that the drum axis and the rotatable shaft are pivoted within a substantially vertical plane. There is preferably a tubular discharge member at one end of the drum to provide a suitable sieve or screening means at the point where the final granular product is withdrawn from the drum. The apparatus is particularly useful in the mixing and granulation steps required to form a multi-component powdery material into granules which can be directly pressed and shaped into tablets, pellets, pills or the like.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1973Date of Patent: March 30, 1976Assignee: Barmag Barmer Maschinenfabrik AktiengesellschaftInventor: Gerhard Gergely
