A plurality of posts removably and interlockingly supports at least one reinforcing support frame and at least one module. Each reinforcing support frame is interlockably mounted onto the posts, and is readily detachable therefrom. Each module is disposed on the interlocking posts and is mounted onto, and readily detachable from, the reinforcing support frame. Each module is further positioned on the frame such that any particulate material passing through the module passes through the frame.

A split lock pin is provided for removably connecting the module to the frame along an outboard edge of the frame while maximizing screening area. The outer perforated wall is divided into longitudinal sections by a gap. An equivalent number of perforated filter plates are also provided. Each filter plate is attached to the top of a corrugated sheet and has a leading edge that is set back from the leading edge of the attached sheet. A seal member is positioned at the leading edge of each corrugated sheet and has a first leg extending between the filter plate and the corrugated sheet. The seal member further includes a second leg which abuts the leading edge of the corrugated sheet so as to block the open ends at the leading edge of the corrugated sheets.

    Abstract: A drum type screening machine has a centrifuging rotor within it. A perforated retaining element is carried by the shaft between a feed inlet and an entry region of the drum. Use of the retaining element prolongs the screen life so much that tension adjustment become necessary. Provision is made for this to be done from outside of the machine. The screening drum has a pair of rings which support the screening cloth and which are held apart at an adjustable distance by tensioning bars. One ring is supported within an end member of the machine housing and the other on support means within the housing. Each bar is externally threaded, e.g. by way of an extension sleeve that is axially fast with the bar. The sleeve is engaged by an internally threaded nut which is axially fast with the end member of the machine. The sleeve extends through that nut and through the end member to the outside of the machine.

    Abstract: Corn-earlage is processed so that the kernels and corn-cobs are finely chopped while the husks retain their raw fiber structure. The mixture of the finely chopped kernels and corn-cobs along with husks is placed in a silo to produce ensilage. If the ensilage is to be used to feed hogs, it is removed from the silo and passed through a screen or separating drum for adjusting the fiber content of the material. Depending on the fiber content desired, the material is introduced into the screen drum provided with a number of serially arranged rows of screen plates. Each row has a removable plate which can be replaced with other plates having larger or smaller openings for achieving the desired fiber content in the ensilage to be fed to the hogs. The drum axle is inclined to the horizontal and is adjustably supported at the inlet end of the drum so that its height relative to the outlet end can be varied.
