Patent number: 11895949Abstract: A method and an apparatus for separating a crop flow on at least one conveying and cleaning unit, particularly a top sieve, of a combine harvester, wherein the conveying and cleaning unit is excited to a longitudinal oscillation and a transverse oscillation. The transverse oscillation is controlled depending on at least one state, wherein least one state for controlling the transverse oscillation is the inclination of the combine harvester, wherein at least one further state for controlling the transverse oscillation is the grain purity, particularly the grain purity of a main crop flow. The transverse oscillation is pre-controlled depending on the inclination of the combine harvester and fine-tuned depending on the grain purity.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2020Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Assignee: CLAAS Selbstfahrende Erntemaschinen GmbHInventors: Benedikt Poelling, Norbert Strieker, Dennis Lutterbeck, Joachim Baumgarten

Patent number: 9867336Abstract: A combine harvester including threshing and separating apparatus which are arranged to process a cut crop stream and each having a grate arrangement through which material separated from the crop stream falls under gravity. Grain conveyance means arranged below the threshing and separating apparatus catch the falling grain and material other than grain (MOG). A stratification pan is located below a front region of the threshing and separating apparatus and a return conveyor is located below a rear region of the threshing and separating apparatus, both conveyors being driven in a oscillating manner. The return conveyor conveys said grain and MOG in a forward direction to a front edge thereof which is located above the stratification pan. The stratification pan conveys collected material rearwardly to a rear edge from where the collected material falls under gravity into a cleaning unit.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2014Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: AGCO A/SInventors: Morten Leth Bilde, Magnus Baltzer Kristensen

Patent number: 9462752Abstract: A clean grain evacuation device for a grain harvester having a threshing system configured to separate grain harvested by the harvester from crop residue and direct a flow of the grain to a cleaning system disposed within the harvester including at least two sieves disposed and configured to sequentially clean the grain. The evacuation device is disposed for receiving a portion of the flow of the clean grain from a first of the sieves, and is configured to evacuate the received clean grain away from the cleaning system. The evacuation device can include a conveyor disposed for directing the evacuated grain directly to a desired location such as a clean grain receiving system on the harvester. The evacuation device can also be located in an air flow path to the sieves.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2012Date of Patent: October 11, 2016Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventors: Herbert M. Farley, Curtis F. Hillen, Frank R. G. Duquesne, Thierry Devriese

Patent number: 8880299Abstract: A combine side-shaking control system and a method for controlling operation of a side-shaking mechanism in a combine. The control system includes at least one sieve for separating crop material from other materials and a movable side-shaking mechanism coupled to the at least one sieve and configured to move the at least one sieve in a side-to-side motion. The control system also includes at least one sensor for sensing at least one operating condition of a combine system. The control system further includes a controller for receiving the at least one operating condition and causing the side-shaking mechanism to stop moving the at least one sieve in the side-to-side motion or start moving the at least one sieve in the side-to-side motion based on the at least one operating condition.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2011Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventors: Craig E. Murray, Orlin W. Johnson, Dale W. Panoushek, Tyler L. Nelson, Kevin S. Schwinn, Bin Lou

Patent number: 5190645Abstract: A shale shaker or the like comprises a hollow body having an inlet and an outlet. A screen is mounted generally horizontally in the hollow body between the inlet and the outlet. A motive assembly is operatively connected to the screen for repetitively moving the screen. At least one generally horizontal tube is connected to the screen for movement therewith. A solid weight freely movable longitudinally in the tube automatically adjusts the center of gravity of the attached screen.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1991Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Inventor: Harry L. Patent number: 4598718Abstract: In a harvester thresher an arrangement for uniform distribution of agricultural product on a reciprocating transporting and cleaning organs of a sieve conveyor includes an upper sieve of a sieve box which is formed so that it has a transporting component toward a side changeable in its value in dependence upon an inclined position of the harvester thresher during threshing on an inclined surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1984Date of Patent: July 8, 1986Assignee: Claas OHGInventors: Franz Glaubitz, Gunter Eis, Werner Fromme

Patent number: 4557276Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for a combine harvester is disclosed wherein the grain pan and chaffer sieve are mounted for pivotal leveling movement about both a transversely extending axis and a longitudinally extending axis. The grain pan and chaffer sieve are mounted in a subframe pivotally supported by a shaker shoe such that the subframe is pivotable about a longitudinally extending axis relative to the shaker shoe, which in turn is pivotally supported on the combine main frame for pivotal movement about a transversely extending axis. A pair of inclinometers disposed to sense the inclination of the combine are utilized to control the flow of hydraulic fluid to hydraulic actuators arranged to pivotally move the shaker shoe and the subframe in response to a sensing of a non-horizontal inclination by the inclinometers.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1984Date of Patent: December 10, 1985Assignee: Sperry CorporationInventors: Myles Hyman, Ronald T. Sheehan, E. William Rowland-Hill

Patent number: 4535788Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for a combine harvester is disclosed wherein the grain pan and chaffer sieve are mounted in a subframe pivotally supported by a shaker shoe for a laterally tilting movement about a fore-and-aft extending axis. The shaker shoe is connected to an eccentric drive to effect a generally fore-and-aft shaking action to convey threshed grain thereon in a rearward direction. The pivotal movement of the subframe relative to the shaker shoe is accomplished through the use of a hydraulic cylinder interconnecting the shaker shoe and the subframe to permit a lateral leveling of the grain pan and chaffer sieve when the combine is operated under sidehill conditions. An inclinometer is utilized to control the flow of hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic cylinder to permit the subframe to be leveled in response to a sensing of a non-horizontal transverse inclination by the inclinometer.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1984Date of Patent: August 20, 1985Assignee: Sperry CorporationInventors: E. Patent number: 4489733Abstract: A combine for harvesting and threshing grain has features to prevent grain and time wastage even if the combine is tilted sideways, and other features to simplify the threshing equipment. The combine has a sieve housing that is mounted on rollers to the frame. These rollers allow the sieve housing to swing like a pendulum if the combine tilts sideways. The combine has inner and outer cylindrical bodies that rotate together opposite to the rotation of a threshing drum. The threshing drum and grate are conical with the rearward end being smaller than the forward end. A beater for beating grain rotates with the threshing drum, causing grain to fall through slots located in the inner body. The space between the inner and outer body contains a helical flight for transporting this rescued grain back to the forward end and to the sieves. Elevating rings mounted to the outer body rotate with the outer body to lift material from the sieve to the bin, if clean grain, and back to the threshing grate, if tailings.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1982Date of Patent: December 25, 1984Assignee: Probe Adventures, Inc.Inventor: Mark R.
