Pulsating Current Patents (Class 209/425)
  • Patent number: 8807346
Abstract: This invention relates to a centrifugal jig comprising a rotating device, at least one jig unit and a product receiver. The jig unit includes a hutch chamber, a screen residue chamber, a screen, a feeding device, a discharging device and a pulsator. The jig unit is installed on the rotor at an inclined angle along the movement of the feed. It is used to separate particles of different density in the slurry. The product receiver is fixed on the ground to collect the separated materials discharged from the rotating jig unit. Separated materials are discharged from an outlet of the screen residue chamber in the jig unit. This invention can unselectively separate any size particles of different density in the fine slurry.

  • Patent number: 5938043
Abstract: An improved jig screen for a centrifugal jig includes a recovery zone and a stratification zone adjacent to one another. The stratification zone is constructed to prohibit outward radial passage of slurry particles while permitting fluid pulsations to be imparted to the slurry during jig screen rotation. The stratification zone axially leads to the recovery zone. The recovery zone has openings permitting passage of particles in the slurry and through which fluid pulsations are directed to the slurry during jig screen rotation. The combination of applying centrifugal force and fluid pulsations to a pre-stratified slurry more effectively separates the heavy particles passing through the recovery zone of the jig screen from the lightweight particles discharged at its exit end.

  • Patent number: 5361910
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved design for the hindered settling bed within a mineral jig. The hindered settling bed contains relatively low density materials that can be used in conjunction with high density materials to aid in the separation of particulate materials within the mineral jig. The presence of the relatively low density barrier materials in the settling bed allow for the separation to occur with less channelling of the separated material through the bed area.

  • Patent number: 4998986
Abstract: A centrifugal jig screen with a rotating hutch is supplied with inwardly directed pulses by overlapping fluid supply nozzles and pulse blocks coaxially arranged about the jig axis. Fluid not directed to the hutch interior in sharply defined pulses is diverted into a surrounding shroud, permitting the incoming fluid flow to be substantially uninterrupted during jig operation. Wedge surfaces about the hutch prevent buildup of separated materials as the are discharged from the hutch.

  • Patent number: 4898666
Abstract: A centrifugal jig of the type in which a feed slurry is introduced into a container rotating about a vertical axis in a region radially bounded by a screen. The screen is preferably substantially parabolic in shape. Ragging is provided on the screen's inner surface and water is provided in the hutch region on the opposite side of the screen. The water in the hutch region is pulsed repetitiously to dilate the ragging and pulsion of the hutch water is achieved at an interface such as a diaphragm interface or an air/water interface. The interface is positioned substantially wholly beyond the projected free surface of the feed material.

  • Patent number: 4849097
Abstract: A mechanical drive mechanism is designed for imparting pivotal motion to the frame arm or walking beam of a mineral jig. Rotary cam action is employed to mechanically pivot the walking beam or frame arm which supports a cone and flexible diaphragm at one end for imparting jigging action to the jig bed. Adjustment features are preferably provided to enable the amplitude of the reciprocating motion imparted to the diaphragm and cone to be selectively varied. In the preferred embodiment, the cam is constructed to be pivotal when at rest for enabling the amplitude of the camming action, and correspondingly the pivot stroke, to be varied.

  • Patent number: 4778219
Abstract: A jigging machine, particularly a movable sieve jigging machine, for the preseparation of deads from valuable material comprises an oscillatory jig bed in the housing filled with separating fluid and comprises deads and valuable material discharge devices located therein, as well as an oscillatory drive for the jig bed. The jigging machine is suitable for underground mining operations in that the outer dimensions of the jigging machine, with respect to the height and width theeof, are designed smaller than the tunnel cross-section of an underground mining operation. A relatively low structure is achieved by designing the housing as a flat trough towards a deads discharge end with the deads discharge being provided as a rising conveyor parallel to the bottom of the trough. Advantageously it is achieved that the quantity of deads to be conveyed is reduced and a considerable saving is provided in terms of energy and expense.

  • Patent number: 4772384
Abstract: In jigging for purposes of gravity separation of material to be concentrated the material is sorted into a heavy fraction which is withdrawn through a screen (2) and a light fraction withdrawn above the screen (2), by periodically passing flows from the bottom to the top through the feed material. If the material is predominantly of finer character, there will be a ragging (3) on the screen (2) composed of particles which are larger and usually also specifically heavier than those of the feed material. In this manner, however, the separation of feed material will be unsatisfactory in the fine particle size range having upper particle size limits between 300 .mu.m and 1 mm, particularly so if the particle size ratio of the material is rather broad.

  • Patent number: 4552654
Abstract: A support frame is provided for support in a body of water with the level of the water disposed, generally, at a predetermined level on the frame and a mount is provided and supports a generally horizontal sample support screen therefrom. The mount includes portions thereof horizontally spaced apart about the support screen and inward of corresponding peripherally spaced portions of the support frame. A purality of elongated, coiled expansion springs extend and are connected between the mount portions and the aforementioned corresponding peripherally spaced portions of the support frame in at least a partially tensioned state and support the mount and screen from the frame. Lift structure is connected between the frame and the mount operative to intermittently direct and release upward thrust on the mount and the expansion springs support the screen, when the latter is in a static condition, at a level at least slightly below the aforementioned predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 4056464
Abstract: A mineral jig for use in treatment plants for the concentration of heavy minerals e.g. cassiterite, gold, platinum, garnet, pyrites and magnetite includes a container for water comprising an upper substantially cylindrical portion and a lower frusto-conical plunger portion, the container including an inlet for water and an outlet for concentrated slurry. A rotor of dished or inverted frusto-conical form is mounted for rotation in the upper portion, and carries a screen of wire mesh or perforated metal. A drive is provided for vertical oscillation of the plunger and a water seal is located between the portions. In operation, slurry on the rotor is subjected to pulsations as a result of the plunger oscillations and to centrifugal force causing a vortex to form in the container co-axial therewith. Heavy mineral passes through the screen and is concentrated prior to collection, while lighter metals move up the rotor and eventually spill over the edge thereof for subsequent collection.
