Diverse Electrical Tests Patents (Class 209/556)
  • Patent number: 4501366
Abstract: A photomultiplier tube assembly for use in high speed light testing apparatus for making a series of light measurements in rapid succession. Electronic circuitry is described for removing noise from a light measurement signal generated by the photomultiplier tube. Other circuitry is described for sensing the presence or absence of a measured object in a testing apparatus and for switching the photomultiplier tube on and off in response thereto. Circuitry for generating a signal to reject defective articles subsequent to testing is described.

  • Patent number: 4482061
Abstract: Successive pairs of rollers in a plurality of juxtaposed continuous feed chain conveyors receive articles, such as fruits and vegetables at an upstream portion of a sorting conveyor system and by movement of the rollers between inclined walls, position the articles in succession so as to pass the same through color sortors and, then, below pneumatic rollers to deposit them into successive cups of a sorting conveyor system. Excess articles on the feed conveyors are released near the downstream end of the feed conveyors and are returned to their upstream end for reprocessing. Adjustable synchronizing linkage tie the two systems together and permit the relative adjustment of the positions of the cups with respect to the positions of the rollers. Spinning of the rollers is accomplished by the rollers riding in the through assemblies for the upper flights of the feed conveyors. Rails lift the rollers when they are not to spin. The color sortor examines the articles as they are spun by the rollers.

  • Patent number: 4466543
Abstract: A method and apparatus for distinguishing and separating both stones and soil clods from field crops, in which a sensor (5) is simultaneously responsive to both impact and influence on a sensor-generated magnetic field and generates output signals characteristic of field crops, stones and clods. The output signals are fed to electronic circuitry (12) that distinguishes output signals produced by mechanical impact of stones and those produced by passage of clods through the magnetic field from signals generated by crops. An ejector cylinder (15) and ejector (16) separates stones and clods from crops upon receipt of a signal from the electronic circuitry.

  • Patent number: 4454028
Abstract: An article or can sorting apparatus for separating articles having a recycle value from articles having no recycle value is defined by an annular article supporting surface positioned at about 45 degrees to horizontal, a cylindrical wall positioned in relation to the surface to define an article processing chamber, a feed hopper into which a plurality of the articles are deposited for feeding into the chamber, and an article conveying disc or wheel positioned in parallel relation to the surface and having a plurality of outwardly extending article pusher arms for separating the articles, such as discarded beverage cans, from the plurality of articles and conveying the articles one at a time about the annular surface to a material discriminator and a weight scale and toward an accept door or a reject door. The material discriminator or metal detector, the scale, and the accept and reject doors form segments of the article conveying surface.

  • Patent number: 4407415
Abstract: A method of determining the grade of a radioactive ore particle wherein a grade measurement of the particle e.g. the ratio of its radioactivity to its mass is corrected by means of predetermined calibration factors which are dependent on one or more of the shape, size, density or mass of the particle.

  • Patent number: 4394907
Abstract: In radiometric sorting a method of compensating for the count recorded by a detector for an ore particle which is displaced from the center line of the detector. The compensation is effected by applying one of a plurality of calibration factors to the detector count. The calibration factors are statistically determined and are dependent on the measured displacement and optionally on at least one of the shape, height, volume or mass of the particle.

  • Patent number: 4385699
Abstract: Method and apparatus for inspecting empty cans entirely automatically includes a flange inspecting process and a drawing condition inspecting process. The flange and the drawing condition inspections are simultaneously carried out in the same inspecting station during the forcible rotation of the can. The flange portion is checked for craks and length, and the outer body surface is checked for the drawing conition respectively in a non-destructive and contactless manner by utilization of static electromagnetic inspection and light reflection inspection methods. A prestored reference value signal, which is compared with a converted electrical signal for the determination of whether cans are good or not, is a signal of a value calculated by a microcomputer on the basis of values which are sampled, equally divided, signal values corresponding to one rotation of a forcibly rotated standard good empty can.
