Patent number: 12103726Abstract: A high-speed automated separation apparatus includes a pair of flexible discs, a driver to rotate the flexible discs, a feeder to position a rigid body at a first location between the flexible discs, a spreader and a converger operable upon the flexible discs such that opposing portions of the flexible disc converge upon the positioned rigid body. The rotating flexible discs rotate the rigid body beyond the first location, and content from the rigid body is expelled. The rigid body and the expelled content are then available for reuse.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2023Date of Patent: October 1, 2024Assignee: Altria Client Services LLCInventors: Loren Duvekot, James D. Patent number: 10502612Abstract: A device and a method are for weighing capsules having a filling. The device has a weighing unit having a receptacle, a transporter for transporting individual capsules to the weighing unit in a direction of movement, and a stopping device. The receiving section of the receptacle is configured as a friction support and is inclined with respect to a horizontal direction. Upon reaching the weighing unit, the capsule is stopped from moving in the movement direction via the stopping device and is deposited in the receiving section in an inclined manner such that a front end, with regard to the movement direction, of the capsule is located lower down than a rear end of the capsule, and such that the capsule comes to rest on the receptacle in this position and with regard to the direction of movement solely because of static friction. The capsule is then weighed.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2017Date of Patent: December 10, 2019Assignee: Harro Hoefliger Verpackungsmaschinen GmbHInventors: Uwe Kiehn, Thomas Puppich

Patent number: 9260249Abstract: A support assembly for supporting a part of a machine, the support assembly comprising at least one support member for supporting a part of the machine on a base, the support member being slidably mounted on a mounting member on the base to be displaceable with respect to the mounting member between a retracted position and an extended position, a jacking leg extending from a lower end of the mounting member to be displaceable between a retracted position and an extended position, a ram acting between the jacking leg and the support member, said ram being operable to move the jacking leg between its retracted and extended positions and to move the support member between its retracted and extended positions to adjust the position of said part of the machine relative to the base.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2013Date of Patent: February 16, 2016Assignee: Terex GB LimitedInventors: Glenn Murphy, Oliver Donnelly

Patent number: 6877611Abstract: A weight selecting apparatus capable of automatically performing calibration, and providing a weight selecting apparatus capable of certainly carrying objects to be inspected with a relatively simple mechanism and performing weight measurement of the objects. The objects, after being subjected to weight measurement by a first weighing unit 2, are sampled by a sampler 5, and those of the objects thus sampled are subjected to weight measurement by a second weighing unit 6. A calibration unit compares, for the same object, the measured result with that obtained by the first weighing unit 2 and discriminates whether or not a difference therebetween is within a specific error range, to perform calibration of the first weighing unit 2. Further, as a carrier 3 for carrying the objects to the weighing unit 2 one by one uses an intermittently rotatable carrying roller 32 having in its outer peripheral surface portion a plurality of carrying pockets 321.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2002Date of Patent: April 12, 2005Assignee: Shionogi Qualicaps Co., Ltd.Inventors: Taizo Yamamoto, Masakiyo Inoue, Yoshihisa Kawaguchi

Patent number: 5977501Abstract: A sortation and sequencing system for sorting a plurality of different items into discrete orders and putting the items into a predetermined sequence within each discrete order or group of orders. The system includes an induction station for accepting items in random succession, and a sensor at the induction station for sensing an identifying characteristic unique to each item and for generating tracking signals uniquely corresponding to the items for tracking the items through the system. A controller receives the tracking signals and generates sort command and sequence command signals which are in part responsive to the tracking signals. A sorter receives the items from the induction station and directs individual items to selected ones of a plurality of sort locations, each sort location corresponding to an individual order or group of orders, in response to sort command signals from the controller.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1996Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: SI Handling Systems, Inc.Inventors: James Werkheiser, Phillip N. Ross, David A. Clark, Robert Porter

Patent number: 4454028Abstract: An article or can sorting apparatus for separating articles having a recycle value from articles having no recycle value is defined by an annular article supporting surface positioned at about 45 degrees to horizontal, a cylindrical wall positioned in relation to the surface to define an article processing chamber, a feed hopper into which a plurality of the articles are deposited for feeding into the chamber, and an article conveying disc or wheel positioned in parallel relation to the surface and having a plurality of outwardly extending article pusher arms for separating the articles, such as discarded beverage cans, from the plurality of articles and conveying the articles one at a time about the annular surface to a material discriminator and a weight scale and toward an accept door or a reject door. The material discriminator or metal detector, the scale, and the accept and reject doors form segments of the article conveying surface.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1982Date of Patent: June 12, 1984Assignee: Point of Purchase Recycling, Inc.Inventors: Robert R.
