The core particles having the large particle size can be easily controlled in terms of transport amount of the core particles, as compared to the material particles which are fine particles used for the film formation. Further, since the core particles hardly cause clog-up in the system, the concentration of aerosol can be maintained stably by appropriately controlling the transport amount of the core particles.

  • Patent number: 6666338
Abstract: A device for the separation of solid objects (9) from fluid flowing in a conduit tube (2) includes a housing that includes a tubular outer wall (3) and a tubular inner wall (4). Between these is delimited a collecting space (8). Concentrically relative to the inner wall (4) is provided a rotation-symmetrical central body (12) which at opposing ends cooperates with flow converting devices (15, 16), which transform incoming flow to a rotative motion and outgoing flow to an axial motion. In the inner wall (4) are recessed tangentially separated holes (20) of elongated shape, through which the scrap objects may pass and be collected in a collecting space (8). In the collecting space (8) a calm flow operation is obtained which guarantees that collected scrap objects are not carried away and returned to the main fluid flow through the separation device.

Abstract: A duct for conveying influent to a head cell having multiple, vertically aligned trays has an inlet end and an outlet end. The inlet end can be connected to an influent channel positioned at a level above the head cell apparatus. The outlet end is positioned downstream of the inlet end and can be connected to the head cell. The outlet end has multiple, discrete nozzles that are spaced apart in a vertical direction and correspond in number to the multiple trays. Influent that enters the inlet end of the duct travels downwardly and exits the duct through orifices in the nozzles, entering each of the respective trays.

  • Patent number: 6605184
Abstract: A method and apparatus treat fiber based material so as to reduce the loss of mineral fractions in the treatment of broke in paper production. Broke is a reusable raw material from a paper machine that contains mineral fractions which are desirably returned to the process as a raw material. The material containing minerals is dispersed into broke pulp, which is fractionated, and the accepts from the fractionation are returned to the paper manufacturing process providing for efficient and economical recovery of the minerals in broke. The mineral fraction provided in the rejects from the fractionation is treated separately before it is reused as filler or coating material in the production of paper or board.

  • Patent number: 6599422
Abstract: A centrifugal separator for purifying liquids containing impurities, has a main fluid conduit forming a passage with an inlet for receiving raw liquid to be purified, and first and second outlets. A discharge conduit is in the passage and is connected to the first outlet. A stator is positioned in the fluid passage for imparting an initial swirling axial movement to the raw liquid. A rotor positioned in the fluid passage upstream of the discharge conduit and downstream of the stator, imparts a further swirling axial movement to the raw water in the fluid passage for causing solids in the raw liquid to migrate outwardly. Clean liquid enters the discharge conduit to exit the separator via the first outlet, and solids laden liquid passes the discharge conduit and exits the separator via the second outlet.

Abstract: The invention relates to an axial feeding method of the material to be separated in a dense-medium dynamic separator (1). This method is based on the principle of imparting to the material and to the fluid in which it is dispersed, in order to facilitate introduction thereof into the separator (1), a rotational velocity component with respect to the axis of the latter, in this way the particles of material have a movement corresponding to that of the dense medium circulating in the separator, so as to prevent uncontrolled dispersion of the particles inside it. The invention also comprises a feeding apparatus (2) for carrying out the abovementioned method.

  • Patent number: 6569323
Abstract: An apparatus for the separation and purification of a mixture of gases, liquids or powders. The apparatus can be used for separating portions of the mixture such as desalting a seawater mixture or obtaining hot and cold without Freon. The apparatus includes a compressor or ventilator for moving the mixture through a spiral pipe or cavity, offshoots and heat exchangers or reservoirs. When the apparatus includes heat exchangers the heat exchangers are for heating and cooling the surrounding environment. The heat exchanger for heating the surrounding environment does so by receiving a relatively hotter portion of the mixture. The heat exchanger for cooling the surrounding environment does so by receiving a relatively cooler portion of the mixture. When the apparatus includes reservoirs the reservoirs are for holding separated portions of the mixture.

  • Patent number: 6544416
Abstract: A system and method for separating solids from a fluid environment is provided. The system includes a device having housing with a substantially cylindrical upper portion and a substantially conical lower portion. The device also includes a chamber at an intersection between the upper portion and the lower portion, and an inlet in communication with the chamber for generating a cyclonic flow pattern into the conical lower portion. As the cyclonic flow with a suspension of solids is introduced into the lower portion, the flow decreases in velocity. Thereafter, the flow rises within the conical lower portion at a velocity less than the settling velocity of the solids, generated by gravitational forces, thereby resulting the separation of the solids from the fluid. The ascending fluid substantially free of solids can be collected through an upper portion, while the settled solids can be collected towards an apex of the conical lower portion and subsequently removed.
