Concentric Guard Ring Or Rib Patents (Class 210/166)
  • Patent number: 5733444
Abstract: An annular ring and cap that are positionable within a manhole or catch basin structure above the base of the manhole or catch basin to reduce the amount of debris entering into the manhole or catch basin. The annular ring may be positioned within the manhole or catch basin such that a flange of the annular ring is sandwiched between the base and support frame. When a final grade surrounding the manhole or catch basin is complete and the cover or grating is positioned above the support frame, the cap then serves as a secondary restriction thereby deterring access to underground conduits that are linked to the manhole or catch basin. A plurality of corrosion resistant locking members secure the cap against a ledge of the annular ring. The annular ring further has an inner edge of the ledge that includes first and second shoulder clearance indentations aligned opposite each other.

  • Patent number: 5702596
Abstract: A water collection trough has an edge arranged in the plane of a roof and a bottom, arranged with spacing from the edge, with an opening. The opening leads to a drainage pipe mounted down at the bottom of the trough. Two parallel plates are arranged spaced apart, a lower plate being fixed in the water collection trough and an upper plate being fixed above the edge of the water collection trough. The edge of the upper plate projects beyond the edge of the water collection trough in such a way that, to form a closed flow in the drainage pipe. The water to be led away is accelerated ahead of the edge of the water collection trough and, after a two-fold deflection of about 90.degree. in each case, ahead of the opening in the bottom.

  • Patent number: 5650065
Abstract: A skimmer cover for a secondary dispersement system orifice in a storm water catch basin prevents inflow of floatable materials, and especially hydrocarbons from motor vehicles, from entering the orifice. The orifice is defined in a neck extending spacedly above the bottom of the catch basin surface to carry the skimmer cover. The skimmer cover provides a top with a peripheral skirt diametrically larger than the neck and supported on the neck to depend therebelow to a point spacedly above the catch basin bottom surrounding the neck. An internal cylinder depends from the cover top within the skimmer cover skirt and defines plural spaced orifices to allow fluid passage therethrough and into the orifice defined by the neck. A depending fastening structure having opposed pivotal lever arms moved by a medial screw therebetween is carried by the skimmer cover top to allow releasable fastening of the skimmer cover within the neck orifice for positional establishment and maintenance of the skimmer cover thereon.

  • Patent number: 5632889
Abstract: Perlite particles, after being expanded and treated with a silicone have the ability to selectively absorb hydrocarbons while rejecting water on or in which the hydrocarbons may be present. A carefully designed cartridge having an apertured top and an apertured bottom permits runoff water to percolate through a body of particulate perlite so that the desired separation can be accomplished. The cartridge in which the perlite is contained is easily removed from a catch basin when the perlite has become spent. The cartridge may then be opened and the spent perlite removed, after which the cartridge may be refilled with fresh perlite and replaced in the catch basin.

  • Patent number: 5469670
Abstract: A roof drain for draining rainwater from a roof. A bell-like strainer is supported by a compression/tension unit including resilient means, which unit is in turn mounted to a drainage sleeve that communicates with a leader. The strainer is secured to the drainage sleeve by a threaded bolt that passes through bores in the strainer and the compression/tension unit, and engages a nut received by the resilient means. Tightening the bolt moves the strainer downwardly into a substantially watertight fit with roofing membrane interposed between a skirt of the strainer and a collar on the drainage sleeve. The resilient means, which may be resilient material, a spring or the like, provides continuous tension between the strainer and the drainage sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5341523
Abstract: An anti-vortex, flush-mounted floor drain for swimming pools consists of a main housing, which is in the form of a hollow cylinder of a first predetermined diameter A drain opening is located in the top of the hollow cylinder; and the edges of the top of the cylinder are mounted flush with the floor of the swimming pool. A downwardly sloped lip extends from the top edge of the main housing and terminates in a circular opening in the top of the main housing. A solid circular cover is centrally mounted in this opening in the main housing, and is movable toward and away from the opening in the main housing to vary the size of the water inlet from the pool between the edge of the circular cover and the edge of the opening in the main housing.
