Abstract: A filtering apparatus is provided for filtering raw water containing various impurities and mixtures into purified water, and more particularly, a multistage filtering apparatus is provided in which a rotor for generating vortex are installed in each of multiple layers of filtration membrane stacked within a closed barrel and the rotors are formed in multistage by having different diameter of each rotor so that the power for generating vortex can be remarkably minimized by generating the vertical vortex from top and bottom of the rotary rotor and the horizontal vortex from the outer side of circumference plate of the rotary rotor to be crossed over between membranes to prevent from blocking the pores or remove the deposited pollutants, and the closed-type barrel having multistage of membranes, rotary shaft, and rotary rotors for vortex generation within are constructed as a single module of filter pack, and the filter pack is connected and extended in accordance with required purified capacity so that large s

Abstract: The present invention provides a system for sludge treatment which transfers sludge into a dewatering device while maintaining the sludge density at a predetermined level constant suitable for dewatering the sludge even when the density of the precipitated sludge varies, thus improving the sludge treating efficiency and sludge dewatering efficiency, and reducing the amount of a coagulant to be used. In the system for sludge treatment, a sludge concentration device is installed in a mixing flocculation tank. Thus, the sludge is mixed with the coagulant and flocculated in the mixing flocculation tank to produce flocs and a supernatant, while the supernatant is directly discharged from the mixing flocculation tank. Furthermore, the amount of the supernatant is controlled to maintain the desired density of the flocs to be transferred to the dewatering device. Thus, the dewatering device can be stably operated.
Abstract: A novel dynamic DFF method and apparatus using CMOS is disclosed. The present invention does not use ratioed logic transistors in implementing a first stage of the DFF design. Thus, PMOS and NMOS transistors, used in the first stage of the DFF circuit, do not have severely disproportionate P-to-N transistor size ratios. These transistors therefore can have a transistor size ratio that increases the circuit's operating speeds.
Abstract: A device for dewatering solid/liquid suspensions, especially pulp suspensions, where the suspension is dewatered between two belts, with one dewatering zone being a wedge zone. A pair of rolls downstream of the wedge zone impart both area pressure and line pressure on the pulp web formed by the pulp suspension.
Abstract: A filter for separation of a liquid from a solid has a turbine surrounded by an elongated filter body and forms a short first stage with short-pitch blades, providing a high axial impulse and low radial impulse, followed by a long second stage with long-pitch blades providing primarily radial displacement. Water vapor can be injected to promote juice extraction and is fed axially into the shaft and emerges from outlets therealong.
Abstract: A system and method for the delivery and application of a biocide treatment to a facility. A specially adapted vehicle is used to transport biocide precursors, and a generator capable of generating biocide from those precursors, to the site of the facility to be treated. Incompatible precursors are isolated from each other in separate compartments in the vehicle. At the site, the generator is communicated with a fluid flow path passing through the facility to be treated. While biocide is being generated in the generator from the precursors, a carrier liquid is simultaneously circulated through the fluid flow path, including the generator, so that biocide from the generator is introduced to the carrier liquid and thereby carried from the generator through the facility to treat it.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for washing pulp according to which method the pulp is supplied onto a movable liquid-pervious support surface to form a substantially continuous layer; and washing liquid is supplied to the pulp layer and passed in several successive washing phases through different areas of the layer in such a way that the washing liquid gradually flows in the opposite direction compared with the flow direction of the pulp layer. According to the invention the washing liquid is divided in two or more partial flows which pass alternately through different washing phases in such a way that the washing liquid which in one phase has passed through the pulp layer flows past at least the washing phase preceding it in the flow direction of the pulp layer. The apparatus of the invention preferably includes a rotating cylinder having a casing surface of which serves as the liquid-pervious support surface for the pulp.
Abstract: A process for the recovery of coal particles having a maximum dimension of less than 2 mm from coal tailings including the steps of forming a slurry (101) of tailings having a pulp density of from 10 to 30% by weight; feeding the slurry into a hydrocyclone (103) to produce an underflow second stream which contains the tailing particles over a predetermined size and some of the gangue particles smaller than that size and an overflow stream containing the coal particles smaller than the predetermined size and the balance of the gangue particles, the hydrocyclone (103) being operated such that the underflow stream has a pulp density of from 40% to 60% by weight; adjusting the pulp density of the second stream, if required, to from 20 to 50% by weight; passing the repulped second stream over a rapped or vibrated sieve screen deck (105) having a wedge wire sieve screen with a radius of less than 2 m, an arc angle of from 45.degree. to 60.degree.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for washing pulp according to which method the pulp is supplied onto a movable liquid-pervious support surface (2) to form a substantially continuous layer (7); and washing liquid is supplied to the pulp layer and passed in several successive washing phases through different areas of the layer in such a way that the washing liquid gradually flows in the opposite direction compared with the flow direction of the pulp layer. According to the invention the washing liquid is divided in two or more partial flows which pass alternately through different washing phases in such a way that the washing liquid which in one phase has passed through the pulp layer flows past at least the washing phase preceding it in the flow direction of the pulp layer. The apparatus of the invention preferably comprises a rotating cylinder (1) the casting surface (2) of which serves as the liquid-pervious support surface for the pulp.
Abstract: For bleaching cellulose pulp or a fraction thereof, e.g. reject pulp, the cellulose pulp or fraction, having a concentration of 0.5-10%, preferably 3-6%, is introduced into a screw press comprising at least a first (47) and a second (48) dewatering zone, is dewatered in the first zone to a concentration of 20-40%, whereupon a liquor of bleach chemicals is introduced centrally into the pulp which, during continued treatment, is dewatered in the second zone to a discharge pulp concentration of 15-50, preferably 15-30%, the liquid pressed out of the second zone, together with fresh bleach chemicals, being returned to the pulp in the screw press as liquor of bleach chemicals.
Abstract: Liquids can be separated from the solids contained in slurries, sludges, etc. by forcing a liquid-permeable fabric, downward into the slurry so that solid materials are retained below the liquid-permeable fabric and liquids can be pumped or drained from above the liquid-permeable fabric. Apparatus is provided, comprising liquid-permeable fabrics and weighting means.
