Patent number: 4351725Abstract: In a plate filter press with filter plates (8) suspended on support guides (3, 4), which filter plates are guided along stop rails (23, 24) for the purpose of preventing pendulating oscillations, the oscillation protection is to be constructed so that a required filter plate replacement or filter cloth exchange can be carried out without disassembly of the oscillation protection. For this purpose, the provision is made that the stop rails (23, 24) can be operatively adjusted away from the filter plates (8), and to attain this objective, the stop rails are preferably pivotable about axles (30, 31) extending in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the filter press.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1981Date of Patent: September 28, 1982Assignee: Rittershaus & Blecher GmbHInventors: Karl A. Patent number: 4329228Abstract: An improved filter plate of the type used with a vertical stack of other such plates to form an industrial filter of the type known as a horizontal plate filter. The improved filter plate has a generally upright side wall, and a divider plate or transverse planar plate portion secured to the side wall below the upper margin thereof. An open top trough is formed in the divider plate to receive the filtrate passing through a filter medium above the filter plate when the latter forms a part of a horizontal plate filter. A hole in the side wall permits the filtrate to be removed from the trough. The filter plate further includes a fluid inlet conduit and an air vent/blowdown conduit extending through the side wall into the space below the divider plate. The trough and removable conduits eliminate the need for fixed baffles for use as the fluid inlet, outlet, and blowdown means as found in a conventional filter plate.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1981Date of Patent: May 11, 1982Assignee: J. Patent number: 4229304Abstract: A molded thermoplastic filter plate (10, 50) having a peripheral rim (14, 54) which extends completely around the perimeter of and is integral with an inner web (12, 52) such that inner drainage faces (15, 53) are formed on each side of the plate (10, 50). Each side of the plate (10, 50) is divided into four triangular sectors (20, 22, 24, 26 and 60, 62, 64, 66). The boundary of each sector lies generally along a line extending from the center of the drainage face (15, 53) to a corner of the peripheral rim (14, 54), from the corner of the peripheral rim (14, 54) to an adjacent corner of the peripheral rim (14, 54), and from the adjacent corner back to the center of the drainage face (15, 53). Thus, each sector includes a corresponding side of the peripheral rim (14, 54). A plurality of drainage ribs (28, 68) are molded on the drainage face (15, 53) in each sector such that the ribs (28, 68) of a particular sector are parallel to the corresponding side of the peripheral rim (14, 54) in that particular sector.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1979Date of Patent: October 21, 1980Assignee: Envirotech CorporationInventor: William L. Patent number: 4172793Abstract: The invention relates to a filter press construction of the type having a plurality of filter plates suspended from two parallel I beam carriers, the filter plates being provided with a novel supporting arm suspension which prevents undesired swinging. The supporting arms are bent to diverge on both front and back sides of the filter plates, two arms on each side of the vertical center of the plate to provide a novel suspension consisting of two leading bent arms and two lagging bent arms for each filter plate in its operating condition suspended for movement on the I beam carrier. The arms of the filter plates are provided with roller or equivalent sliding elements to facilitate shifting movement on the guiding flange surface of the parallel I beam carriers. This unique leading and lagging supporting arm construction on the I beam carrier eliminates serious swinging problems encountered with conventional filter presses using the parallel I beam carrier suspension for the filter plates.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1978Date of Patent: October 30, 1979Inventors: Max Oelbermann, Karl A. Patent number: 4166035Abstract: A filter-plate assembly for a filter press has a substantially rigid support plate against which bears a filter plate. This filter plate is integrally formed of elastically deformable material and has an annular outer frame which lies against the support plate and defines a frame plane. A generally planar and elastically deformable central panel lies in a panel plane and is displaceable relative to the frame between a normal position to one side of the frame plane and lying against the support plate and a pressing position to the other side of the frame plane. This panel is formed with an array of bosses projecting away from the support plate. An annular web has an outer periphery connected to the frame at the frame plate and an inner periphery connected to the panel at the panel plane. This web is relatively thin and elastically deformable like the central panel and has a surface area which is greater than the surface area of the projection of the web on the frame plane.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1978Date of Patent: August 28, 1979Assignee: Lenser Verwaltungs-GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Ramsteck

Patent number: 4158627Abstract: Method and apparatus for drying waste matter such as sludge accumulated in a sewage treatment facility. The sludge is mixed with flocculating chemicals and thoroughly stirred. The mixture is then allowed to drain for a predetermined time in a porous-bottomed basin. A porous web preferably of braided wire which is movable across the basin floor carries the drained sludge to a pressing facility which squeezes the sludge between a pair of linear squeezing plates. As the web leaves the basin it is joined by a second web capturing the sludge therebetween for delivery to the pressing facility. The sludge may be air-blown in the pressing facility to achieve further dryness. The common guiding roll about which the two webs merge also serves as an end wall for the aforementioned basin.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1977Date of Patent: June 19, 1979Assignee: AB Kalle-RegulatorerInventor: Gosta I. Patent number: 4065390Abstract: Disclosed is an improved filter of the type comprised of a series of stacked plate assemblies forming filter chambers adjacent to sheets of filter media between plate assemblies. The plate assemblies are constructed so that liquid can be rapidly removed from the filter chambers to prevent spillage when it becomes necessary to separate the plate assemblies and replace the filter media. Each plate assembly has an internal baffle system along one side having inlets for liquid to be filtered. The baffle system for each plate assembly deflects liquid coming into the chamber so as to prevent it from disturbing the filter cake, and it also allows substantially all of the liquid to be blown out of the chamber during a reverse flow "blow-down" procedure prior to separation of the plate assemblies.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1977Date of Patent: December 27, 1977Assignee: J.R. Patent number: 3931014Abstract: In a filter plate-and-diaphragm assembly, the marginal sealing zone of the diaphragm has a sealing rib received in a groove of the filter plate frame. During operation, the diaphragm, with the exception of the sealing zone, is lifted off the filter plate by a pressure medium introduced in a pressure chamber bounded by the diaphragm. The rib is situated in the vicinity of that edge of the sealing zone that is remote from the pressure chamber, so that an intermediate sealing zone of considerable width is disposed between the rib and the pressure chamber.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1974Date of Patent: January 6, 1976Assignee: Eberhard Hoesch & SoehneInventors: Franz Heimbach, Alfons Schotten
