Patent number: 4240913Abstract: A washer or hydro-extractor comprising a cylindrical basket adapted to be rotated about its longitudinal axis for liquid extracting operations on wet material placed therein. A plurality of rigid flaps within the basket are selectably pivotable about respective axes extending longitudinally of the basket. The flaps normally lie substantially flat against the inner cylindrical surface of the basket. A respective cam follower is rigidly coupled to each flap via a respective crank arm. In order to selectably pivot the flaps for stripping caked material from the inner surface of the basket, a stripper cam is selectably displaceable into a position in which it engages the cam followers of those flaps which, at any instant during stripping, lie in what is, at that time, the upper part of the basket, whereby the latter flaps are pivoted from their normal positions for effecting stripping.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1979Date of Patent: December 23, 1980Assignee: Thomas Broadbent & Sons LimitedInventor: Anthony B. Patent number: 4204964Abstract: Continuous centrifugal filtering device for precipitation, washing or draining. The rotative cylindrical sleeve is constituted of a helical winding with continuous coils of a long strip mounted in a rotative case including cylindrical rollers engaging the exterior of the cylndrical sleeve, and driven in rotation at slow speed, all in the same direction. The strip forming the cylindrical sleeve is looped in an endless assembly by a return coil which extends from one extremity to the other of the helical winding so that the porous cylindrical sleeve thus formed advances slowly axially renewing itself constantly. The device can be used for making coffee.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1978Date of Patent: May 27, 1980Assignees: Societe Normande de Services, Agence Nationale de Valorisation de la Recherche (ANVAR), Societe Generale pour le Financement de l'Innovation, Soginnove, Bertrand Cor, Arnaud GastinneInventor: Serge Cailliot

Patent number: 4146476Abstract: In a peeling centrifuge comprising a rotatable centrifuging drum which is surrounded by a stationary filtrate collection chamber having an outlet, and wherein the drum perforations communicate directly with that chamber, regeneration of the filter bed is effected while the drum rotates by throttling said outlet and introducing liquid to the chamber, so that liquid accumulates in the chamber and penetrates, at any instant, at least a portion of the filter bed. In one embodiment, wherein the drum axis is horizontal, only a sector of the bed in the lower region of the drum is penetrated at any time, and regeneration of the entire bed is accomplished sequentially as the drum rotates. In other embodiments, the chamber is allowed to fill with regenerating liquid to such extent that the entire bed is penetrated simultaneously. The regeneration technique may be carried out either in the terminal phase of a centrifuging operation, or after completion of centrifuging and peeling of the accumulated solids cake.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1978Date of Patent: March 27, 1979Assignee: Escher Wyss LimitedInventor: Leonhard Spiewok

Patent number: 4052303Abstract: A method of operating a filter centrifuge or centrifugal filter in which a hydrostatic head is provided at the filtering surface so as to control liquid passage therethrough. The head may promote movement of the liquid through the filter layer or may induce reverse flow of liquid for backwashing or rinsing. In addition, a hydrostatic balance may be provided at this surface through control of the head to limit passage of the liquid through the filter layer. Preferably the head provides a suction augmenting centrifugal filtration.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1976Date of Patent: October 4, 1977Assignee: Krauss-Maffei AGInventors: Gunther Hultsch, Kurt Zeppenfeld, Peter Niedner, Peter Ostermeyer

Patent number: RE35307Abstract: A separator bowl and blade assembly for a centrifugal separator device in which a rotatable separator bowl has a plurality of recesses therein and a blade assembly or blank is adapted to be releasably disposed in the recesses. The blade assembly includes a pad having a structural configuration which corresponds and mates with the bowl recess. A blade extends outwardly from the pad and is connected to a bottom pad portion and an outwardly extending pad portion with the blade assembly being either an integral or releasably connected assembly.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1994Date of Patent: July 30, 1996Assignee: Inter-Source Recovery Systems, Inc.Inventor: William D.
