  • Patent number: 12121913
Abstract: A centrifuge provided with: a bowl having a plurality of extension lugs formed on an opening rim section at one end of the bowl in the axial direction, the extension lugs being spaced apart from one another in the circumferential direction; a screw conveyer rotatably housed inside the bowl and rotatable at a different rotational speed than the bowl; a hub forming solid discharge ports between circumferentially adjacent pairs of the extension lugs, the hub connecting to the extension lugs and covering an opening of the opening rim section from the axial direction; and a wear-resistant sleeve including a sleeve body and a flange. The sleeve body covers lug inner surfaces of the extension lugs and the flange extends in an arced shape along the opening rim section. The sleeve body is attached with axially extending bolts to the opening rim section at a position that avoids the extension lugs.

  • Patent number: 11911778
Abstract: In a continuous centrifuge, a core end surface component separated from a core body is arranged inside a rotor, an air trap mechanism which automatically captures bubbles inside a sample is formed, and the bubbles are removed by centrifugal separation before the sample is sent to an outer circumferential portion having a high liquid pressure. In addition, when viewed in the axial direction, the core body and an upper rotor cover abut each other, and the core end surface component and a lower rotor cover abut each other, with appropriate pressure by biasing the core end surface component and the core body with a spring. Because a flow path between the rotor core and the rotor covers is maintained in a perfect state and the bubbles in liquid are also removed, the flow path may not be blocked by the bubbles and the centrifugal separation can be stably performed.

  • Patent number: 10562040
Abstract: A centrifugal filtering device includes a centrifugal drum and a rotary filter. The centrifugal drum has a receiving space for accommodating the source fluid. The rotary filter rotatably mounted in the receiving space includes a filter body and a filtrate discharge pipe. The filter body includes a filter cartridge defining a filtrate-collecting space. The filtrate discharge pipe connecting the filter body is communicative in space with the filtrate-collecting space. By rotating at least one of the centrifugal drum and the rotary filter, the source fluid is driven to generate a vortex by a centrifugal force. The centrifugal force drives the source fluid to form a heavy-phase fluid hitting the centrifugal drum and a light-phase fluid approaching the filter cartridge. The light-phase fluid passes the filter cartridge and then reaches the filtrate-collecting space as a filtrate, and the filtrate is exhausted via the filtrate discharge pipe of the centrifugal filtering device.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device and method for milking animals, in which the milk which is removed is conveyed through a filter element. Any material which is deposited on the filter element is detected and, if appropriate, identified. After detection is complete, the direction of flow through the filter element is reversed, so that the filter material is rinsed clean. The invention also comprises a contamination meter for user in the device and method mentioned above.

Abstract: The invention relates to a centrifuge comprising a rotating drum (1) and comprising an ejection element (2) which rotates together with the drum in order to eject a cake (3) of solids, which is deposited on the inner side of the drum, in the axial direction (4). The ejection element (2) has a helix (5) which extends over the length of the drum. The helix (5) and the drum (1) are kinematically connected in such a manner that a reference point (A) at the circumference of the helix executes a rotational movement relative to the drum in the form of a sawtooth line (6, 8), with a first flank (7) of the sawteeth (8) corresponding approximately in its inclination (&agr;) to the pitch (&bgr;) of the helix whereas a second flank (9) of the sawteeth (8) corresponds to an approximately axial ejection movement.

Abstract: An improved blade design and method for enhancing the efficiency of operation of a centrifuge is disclosed based on measuring a varying value of the load on the centrifuge as the flow of contaminated fluid is injected into the centrifuge. The centrifuge has a plurality of blades with radially overlapping edges to keep the fluid being centrifuged compartmentalized and thus quiet for maximum efficiency. Additionally, the scraping blade assembly has blades which are angled in the scraping direction to force the solids towards the exit of the centrifuge, whether that be at the bottom or the top. A programmable logic controller monitors the load on the drive motor and compares a baseline value of load after accelerating the rotor to speed to the value of load while the contaminated fluid is injected into the rotor.

Abstract: An improved screen basket for use with a centrifuge includes two adjoining screen sections. The first screen section is formed from a wear resistant material and is located proximate to the point at which slurry is introduced into the basket. The length of the first screen section is chosen so that the majority of potential wear caused by the abrasive slurry occurs within the first section of the basket. The second screen section is preferably formed from less expensive materials, such as steel wedge wire. The second screen section smoothly joins the first screen section and provides for further dewatering or separation of the accelerated slurry so that a dry cake is produced by the centrifuge.

  • Patent number: 6193076
Abstract: This disclosure sets forth a method and apparatus for operation of a centrifuge. It is constructed with a fluid inlet at one end delivering a liquid flow into a feed pipe and then into a rotating bowl. The bowl has an outer wall which is cylindrical and which is formed of adjacent individual pieces defining gaps between pieces. In one embodiment, 960 pieces define 960 parallel slots. The slots are quite narrow, having a width of 80 microns to thereby exclude particles larger than that. The mud flow is introduced into the bowl region, and a flited conveyor is operated to scroll the particles along the bowl towards the opposite end, a tapered beach cone, and that terminates at a set of discharge openings. Dry powder too large to pass through the slots is discharged from there. While the slots discharge the mud, particles are removed by this approach.

Abstract: A centrifuge includes a conveyor for moving cake along a cake flow path towards a cake discharge opening and further includes a baffle mounted to the conveyor and disposed along the cake flow path. The baffle is provided on an upstream side, facing substantially away from the discharge opening, with a concave profile or surface. This concave profile or surface serves to direct a portion of the cake, which is headed downstream along the cake flow path, into a recirculation or churning path directed partly back towards a pool. The recirculation or churning of the particulate material facilitates an enhanced washing thereof and improves the removal of valuable solutes or undesirable impurities from the cake.

  • Patent number: 6059971
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and a process for thickening and conveying waste water sludges, especially with a centrifuge. Here, the centrifuge has at least one lysis device for the breaking down of cells of organisms contained in the waste water sludges. The lysis device of the device of the invention may take the form, for example, of a friction grinder (100; 200) with grinding discs (161, 162) or a milling cone, a shaped rasp, a roller crusher, a passing drum, a cutting unit with rows of rotary cutters or a pin grinder with rows of rotating pins. The device of the invention is capable of the lysis of cells, especially those of bacteria and protozoons so that their cell content discharges into the surrounding medium which then acts as a simulation reagent for the bacteria still present in the sludge, so that on the one hand the total quantity of sludge can be greatly reduced and on the other the bio-gas yield is considerably increased.
