Inwardly Extending Partitions Patents (Class 210/381)
  • Patent number: 8876929
Abstract: A filter device disposed in a moist fluid passage of the fuel cell system includes a fluid introducing path which introduces a fluid that flows in the moist fluid passage, a filter to permeate the fluid introduced from the fluid introducing path and remove foreign matter in the fluid, a fluid discharge path which discharges a fluid that passed the filter, and a rotating driving mechanism, connected with the filter, that rotates the filter so that substances that adheres to the filter are removed by the centrifugal force. In the filter device, water does not adhere to and does not remain in the filter. When leaving the system under the low temperature after the system stops, blockage by freezing the filter can surely be prevented. The complex control and the heat source such as a heater for defrost is unnecessary. Thus, a cheap and compact filter device can be provided.

  • Patent number: 5458776
Abstract: A centrifuge for dewatering a fluent aggregate material such as sand. Sand slurry is conducted into a rotating cylindrical drum which has a perforated lateral wall against which a screen is placed. The drum is oriented with the axis disposed vertically. When the centrifuge operates, centrifugal action slings slurry poured into the drum outwardly. Upon contacting the lateral wall, the slurry builds up. When a certain quantity of the slurry has built up at the bottom or floor of the cylinder, additional material cannot resist migrating upwardly. Thickness of the trapped layer varies, being greater at the floor, near the source of the incoming slurry. This trapped layer forms a bed having an inclined wall. Thickness of the bed at the top of the cylinder is determined by a circumferential, inwardly projecting flange or dam located at the top of the cylindrical drum. The sand bed protects metal parts of the centrifuge from abrasion, and also enables water to diffuse therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5230797
Abstract: A centrifuge bowl of the type having a shell including a peripheral wall and a cast inner liner attached to the inside surface of the peripheral wall is modified by the provision of a plurality of punched channel portions which extend inwardly into the bowl from peripheral wall to define a U-shaped channel with severed ends. During the casting process the casting plastics material extends into the recess behind each channel portion and thus when set forms an insert portion which anchors the liner to the channel portion and thus to the peripheral wall. Openings for the entry of fluidizing water are then drilled through the insert portion from the outside of the shell through one end of the channel portion and through the liner into the interior of the bowl.

  • Patent number: 4362620
Abstract: A centrifuge for the separation of materials having different densities such as solids and liquids or liquids of different densities has partitions therein disposed generally perpendicularly to the material flow within the centrifuge which form a series of chambers within the centrifuge for respectively retaining floating layers of materials of particular densities, with each chamber being equipped to discharge the material retained therein. Retention and transfer of the materials of different densities is achieved by selective termination of the partitions within the centrifuge at respective heights and depths to accommodate a desired material layer height. An improved separation is attained thereby so that the discharged phases are in substantially pure form.
