  • Publication number: 20130264270
Abstract: The invention relates to sector part of a filtering, preferably rotating disk. The sector part includes a centrally located, relatively stiff and rigid support 1; 12 for transport of liquid therethrough and a substantially sealing edge with the exception of one or more fluid discharges 6. The sector part further comprises on both sides of sector support 1; 12 applied, filtering set ups of fine meshed nets, or made of other finely perforated materials performed or equivalent separating means 3, 4; 32, 42 for capturing and separating of fibres and/or particles from a mixture of fibers and/or particles and fluid. The aims of the invention are to capture and separate the fibres and/or particles from a mixture of fibres and/or particles and fluid. One important aspect of the invention characteristic is that each of said separating means 3, 4; 32, 4 is applied loosely and is movable held relative the support 1; 12 and relative to the sealing edge 2; 22.

  • Patent number: 8087516
Abstract: A new device, method, and system are disclosed that provide for removal of undesired materials from a contaminated fluid. Materials present in the fluids are kept in motion in one or more filter cassettes that include disc aerators that improve contact times with the sorbents and that rotate the filter media to pump contaminated water through the filter media for treatment of the contaminated fluids. The device and system provide containment of sorbent fines that keeps the filter media free from clogging.

  • Patent number: 7201845
Abstract: A system for moving a filter or a retainer into or out of a fluid pathway without halting the movement of the fluid in the pathway. When acting as a filtering device, the system includes a filter frame and a drive mechanism for slidingly moving the filter frame on stationary rails that remain in the duct through which the fluid is transferred. When a retainer device, the system includes a retainer and a drive mechanism for slidingly moving retainer on stationary rails that remain in the chamber through which a fluid under treatment passes. The system includes isolation means permitting the filter frame or retainer to pass into or out of the duct or chamber without exhausting the fluid within the duct or chamber. The drive mechanism may be a guillotine damper gate drive, a spindled drive, a hydraulic actuator or other drive means. The filter or the retainer may include a plurality of bays that are rigidly, hingedly, or detachably connected together.

  • Patent number: 5750025
Abstract: An extracorporeal blood processing system is disclosed which includes a disposable for an apheresis system. The disposable can include a blood processing vessel and a contoured support. The blood processing vessel includes sidewalls to define the vessel and a blood inlet port and a blood component outlet port. The support is provided proximate to the blood component outlet port and exteriorly relative to the fluid-containing volume of the blood processing vessel. The support may be contoured to direct the desired blood component types(s) toward the blood component outlet port and is in an overlapping relation with the exterior surface of the blood processing vessel. The support and part of an adjacent channel wall collectively define a generally funnel-shaped collect well that collects blood components flowing thereby.

  • Patent number: 5130021
Abstract: Batch filtration is carried out within a rockable/rotatable housing, suspension to be filtered being fed in via ports in the upper region onto a curved filter fixed within the housing, and filtrate draining from below, via outlets to which vacuum may be applied. The housing is preferably cylindrical and may be mounted upon rollers or wheels so that rocking or rotating can be effected by belts or chains attached between the housing and a linearly reciprocable member, or by a rotary gear or friction drive wheel acting on the housing circumference, or by rack and pinion means, or a variety of other means. Washing of filter cake, reslurrying, drying by hot gases, and pressurization can all take place "in situ" whilst rocking continues, and discharge of cake is effected via the same ports as for inlet by turning the housing over.

  • Patent number: 4842750
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for cleaning viscous materials, more particularly melted down scrap synthetic materials in a recycling process. The apparatus of the invention comprises a cleaning screen in the form of a strip which can be moved at right angles to the direction of flow of the material to be cleaned, so that the soiled area of the screen may be replaced by a clean area. In order to prevent the synthetic material from escaping when the cleaning screen is advanced, the volume before the screen is enlarged. This reduces or eliminates the pressure upon the screen so that the strip can easily be displaced, with no escape of the viscous material from the gaps in which the cleaning screen is located.

  • Patent number: 4707256
Abstract: A filter for squeezing or pressing out suspensions has the following main components: a boiler-shaped outer casing, a cover releasably closing the outer casing at its open end face, a tubular filter element projecting from the cover and an elastic membrane which is arranged between outer casing and filter element and is connected, on the one hand, to the open end face of the outer casing and, on the other, to the end face of the filter element remote from the cover such that the membrane is inverted when the cover is removed coaxially from the outer casing. In a filter of this type, the inner diameter of the slack membrane in the region of the filter element is equal to or smaller than the outer diameter of the filter element.

  • Patent number: 4664813
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dewatering and drying sludge. A pair of upper and lower members form a closed chamber into which sludge is poured. Sidewalls of the upper member are pressed against the lower member to seal the chamber. Compressed air supplied at a pressure P.sub.1 to a continuous groove in the lower edge of the sidewalls flows across the sloped inside surfaces of the sidewalls and supplements air supplied to the chamber at a somewhat lower pressure level P.sub.2, the combined pressures P.sub.1 and P.sub.2 in said chamber forcing liquid from said sludge through porous media in the bottom of the chamber. Air from the continuous groove aids in releasing the dried sludge from the chamber when the upper and lower members are separated.

  • Patent number: 4487696
Abstract: A serum and cell separating and dispensing device comprising an elongated tubular vessel partitioned throughout its length forming two distinct compartments containing vent orifices on either side. One opened end of the vessel is fitted with a resilient element containing a larger and smaller orifice which houses a small and large pore filter respectively. These orifices communicate with the two compartments respectively. At the opposite end of the vessel are two small tubular vessels extending from and communicating with the compartments formed by the partition. Blood drawn in an evacuated collection tube such as Becton Dickinson's vacutainer is centrifuged after clotting. The device is forced into the opened end of the collection tube and pressed downwardly. The resilient element forms an air trap by touching the inner wall of the collection tube and serum is forced through the orifices containing the filters.

  • Patent number: 4249860
Abstract: A pump is provided which is specifically designed for the pumping of abrasive particulates, such as a pump employed in the bottom of an oil well. Within a cylindrical housing, one or more pumping stages are provided to pressurize the particulate containing fluid to move the fluid axially through the housing and into a centrifugal type particulate separator mounted on the same shaft as that which drives the pumping stages. The separator effects the division of the fluid into two radially adjacent, axially moving fluid streams with the inner stream being relatively free of particulates and the outer stream containing most of the particulates.
