  • Patent number: 8656948
Abstract: A wide variety of machines have moveable members that are operated by an hydraulic actuator. For example, an internal combustion engine has a camshaft which is mechanically coupled to rotate with the crankshaft and which opens and closes cylinder intake and exhaust valves. Traditionally the camshaft timing was fixed at a setting that produced the best operation for all engine operating conditions. However, it has been recognized that engine performance can be improved if the valve timing varies as a function of engine speed, engine load, and other factors. Thus a hydraulic actuator is being used on some engines to vary the coupling relationship of the camshaft to the crankshaft. A solenoid operated valve controls the application of pressurized fluid to operate the hydraulic actuator.

  • Patent number: 5128035
Abstract: New and improved filtration purification or water treatment systems for providing improved purified drinking water at a point of use are provided in a substantially leak-free fluid flow control device to which the other filtration purification system elements may be matedly engaged. Other system elements may include various filters or filter modules, as well as, system leads for conveying incoming tap water in, outgoing waste water out to drain and purified water from the filter section to a storage tank until desired for use. The fluid flow control device is preferably a unitary thermoplastic body having a number of discrete fluid flow passages extending therein. In a preferred embodiment, the fluid flow control device includes integrally formed input/output connector features, filter-receiving socket portions and an automatic shut off valve disposed in fluid flow communication with certain ones of the passages.

  • Patent number: 5108702
Abstract: A blood aerator comprises an aerating vessel having a vessel body provided with ports for a gas- and liquid-tight connection to a blood hose and at least one gas hose. A simplified and reliable handling is permitted in that a port for the blood hose and a port for a lower gas hose are separately provided on the bottom portion of the vessel body, the port for the lower gas hose contains a hydrophobic filter element, which is impermeable to blood and permeable to gas, and the port for a second gas hose is provided on the top portion of the vessel body.

  • Patent number: 4995970
Abstract: A steering force control apparatus for a power steering system includes a hydraulic path, a branch path, and a cylindrical filter. The hydraulic path extends from a pump to a power steering side. The branch path has one end open to a wall midway along the hydraulic path and extends to a hydraulic reaction mechanism. The cylindrical filter is adjacent to the wall of the hydraulic path and has a mesh portion for filtering a pressurized oil. The mesh portion is formed at a portion of the cylindrical filter at which the hydraulic path communicates with the branch path. The portion of the filter at which the hydraulic path communicates with the branch path has a tapered stepped portion mechanically formed at the downstream side of the branch path. The cylindrical filter has upper and lower ring frame members to be fitted in the hydraulic path. The lower ring frame member is formed to have an outer diameter smaller than that of the upper ring frame member.

  • Patent number: 4946047
Abstract: A filter apparatus having a filter element and a stop valve, both incorporated in a body thereof. By means of an engagement, the stop valve is coupled with a cap which is fitted to a body of the filter apparatus by thread-engagement. When the cap is removed from the body for replacement of the filter element, the stop valve rotates together with the cap to close an inlet port of the filter apparatus. On the other hand, when the cap is fitted to the filter apparatus, the stop valve directs the fluid into the filter apparatus since an opening provided in the stop valve coincides with the inlet port because of rotation of the stop valve.

  • Patent number: 4818397
Abstract: A shut-off valve sealing system for a removable cartridge-type filter which includes a body having an inlet to conduct fluid to be filtered therethrough to an inlet of the filter cartridge. The body has an outlet to conduct filtered fluid therethrough from an outlet of the filter cartridge when supported on the body, and a central opening in communication with the inlet and the outlet. A seal member is provided on the body about the central opening. A valve member is movably mounted on the body and movable against the seal member to shut off the inlet when the filter cartridge is removed from the body. A retainer member is provided for retaining the seal member on the body, the retainer member projecting beyond the seal member and providing a stop for stopping movement of the valve member.

  • Patent number: 4806258
Abstract: A fluid filtering stop valve having a body with a cylindrical chamber having a circumferential sidewall with inlet, outlet and flush ports, and a cylindrical plug member rotatably disposed in the chamber. The plug member has spaced apart first and second circular plates with an off-center filtering screen extending therebetween. The plug member is rotatably between a filtering position in which the screen is located in the fluid flow between the inlet and outlet ports, a backflushing position in which the screen is located in the fluid flow between the inlet and flush ports, with the filtering side of the screen toward the flush port, and a closed position in which an arcuate plate washer loosely retained between the first and second plates is positioned to seal the flush and outlet ports. In the filtering position the washer seals only the flush port and in the flush position the washer seals only the outlet port. The screen uses outwardly diverging ribs to reduce lodging of material between the ribs.

  • Patent number: 4655912
Abstract: The fluid valve assembly includes a hollow movable valve having an open-ended tubular fluid filter in the longitudinal bore of the valve and overlying transverse fluid discharge passages in the hollow valve to filter fluid before it flows through the transverse discharge passages from inside the valve. Downstream of the tubular fluid filter, the hollow valve includes one or more fluid metering passages which are moved relative to a valve seat to control a second flow of fluid from inside the valve. The increased fluid flow longitudinally in the valve bore when the valve is moved from the seat to effect the second fluid flow exerts a washing action on the tubular fuel filter to remove debris or foreign matter therefrom and carry same out through relatively large fluid passages not prone to clogging.
