Publication number: 20030010704Abstract: An industrial, e.g. power plant cooling, water extraction framed cartridge filter system is disclosed with a holed fabric type medium to filter debris from the power plant cooling water. The fabric type filter medium is comprised a one or more strength meshes of nylon or another strong fiber and an inner polypropylene or polyester medium with small holes. The size of the frame and the number and arrangement of the holes are arranged to supply a volume of filtered water consistent with the needs of the application at the typical pressures found therein. For a power plant, a system of many cartridges may be used to provide the total cooling/replacement water needs. Compressed air is introduced into the bottom interior of the cartridges and released via a valve at the top. The compressed air mechanically disturbs the filter medium to knock off any debris that may have attached to the filter medium surface and air escaping via the small holed in the filter may attach to and float small pieces of debris away.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2002Publication date: January 16, 2003Inventors: George T. Patent number: 6495031Abstract: A liquid filter apparatus includes a filter media belt enclosed by sealably mated cover pan and floor pan defining a vacuum chamber connected to a sealed clean liquid tank, with clean liquid pumped out continuously to draw liquid to be filtered into an upper region of the filter chamber via on inlet hose connected to a source of liquid to be filtered. The cover pan is lifted after the vacuum is relieved to allow indexing of the filter media belt. A main control valve to the clean liquid tank is closed and pumping liquid continues during indexing. A vacuum control device limits the maximum vacuum developed in the clean liquid tank and a vacuum pump removes air from the tank for priming and to eliminate excess accumulated air.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2001Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Inventor: Jack R. Patent number: 6485636Abstract: A dual filter system for diesel fuel is provided, which allows the operator to keep the diesel engine running while inspecting or replacing one of the two fuel filters. The system includes an upper block which is divided into two identical mirror image sections. Each section has a shutoff valve, a fuel filter and a one-way check valve. Fuel is introduced into a common passageway and flows equally to each side of the upper block. Fuel is fed through each filter and filtered fuel moves through the one-way check valve to a common outport. In order to inspect or replace one filter, the fuel to the filter to be replaced is simply, shut off by the cutoff valve. All of the fuel then flows through the opposite side. The one-way check valves prevent fuel flowing through the opposite side from flowing back into the side which is being serviced. Air bleed valves are also provided in order to put the new filter side back in operation.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2000Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Inventor: Loren F. Moss

Publication number: 20020158000Abstract: The present invention provides a gas-permeable hollow fiber membrane having an inner diameter of 50 to 500 &mgr;m and a membrane thickness of 10 to 150 &mgr;m, which is preferably a composite hollow fiber membrane having a three-layer structure consisting of a nonporous layer having porous layers disposed on both sides thereof. Dissolved gases present in an ink can be removed by passing the ink through the bores of hollow fibers comprising such a hollow fiber membrane, and evacuating the outer surface side of the hollow fibers. This method makes it possible not only to degas inks with a slight pressure loss, but also to degas inks stably even if pressure changes occur during degassing.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2002Publication date: October 31, 2002Applicant: Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenji Watari, Satoshi Takeda, Masumi Kobayashi, Makoto Uchida, Masamoto Uenishi, Noriaki Fukushima, Seiji Hayashi
