Abstract: A system, device and method for the brewing of a capsule. The device comprises a first chamber portion and a second chamber portion movable with respect to each other to be moved between an open position and a closed position. The device further comprises a capsule handler arranged to enable insertion therein of the capsule and to position said capsule in a brewing position, wherein the capsule handler retains the capsule in the brewing position when the capsule handler is in a ready position. When the first chamber portion and the second chamber portion are moved with respect to each other from the closed position to the open position, the capsule can fall freely from the brewing position under the influence of gravity when the capsule handler is in an ejection position.

Abstract: The invention relates to a beverage extraction device with easy rejection of capsules including a housing, a first frame and a second frame. The first frame has a length and a chamber with a side wall. Each jaw is movably connected to a side support of the second frame. The first shaft is formed on the front portion of each jaw, the second shaft is formed on the back portion of each jaw. The device further includes two guiding grooves and two guiding plates, each guiding groove has a front end that bends outwardly; each guiding plate has a pushing portion protruding toward the central line of the housing, the first shaft of each jaw slides inside the leading groove defined on each guiding plate.

Abstract: A device and method for filtering storm water entering a street curb inlet drain using a series of expandable brackets to deploy and seal a filter medium completely inside a street curb inlet drain.

Abstract: Membranes for filtration by size exclusion are formed from open-ended nanotubes embedded in a polymeric matrix. The matrix forms a layer whose thickness is substantially less than the average length of the nanotubes, allowing the nanotubes to be randomly oriented throughout the matrix while providing channels extending through the layer for the selective passage of molecular species or particles based on size.

Abstract: A portable hot water dispensing machine, particularly suitable for dispensing espresso, that is compact, lightweight, requires minimal power to operate, and is readily transportable, and a method of dispensing hot water, such as espresso. Two-stage heating is utilized for reducing the boiler volume and power requirements. In addition, components are thermally insulated and are strategically spaced to maximize space and allow for portability.

Abstract: An adjustable curb guard filter apparatus for filtering liquid flowing into a curbside drain and method for deploying the same. In accordance with one embodiment, the adjustable curb guard filter apparatus includes a filter sheet disposed between an upper and a lower of a pair of support bar members. The curb guard filter apparatus is deployed onto the curbside drain such that the ends of each of the support bar members exert an outwardly directed pressure against the inner lateral surfaces of the curbside drain enabling the filter sheet to form a substantially complete seal thereon. In a preferred embodiment, the lower end of the filter sheet is wrapped in a scroll-like manner around the lower support bar member such that when installed onto the curbside drain, the wrapped lower support bar member simultaneously provides dam and liquid filtration functionality along the bottom edge of the curbside drain.

Abstract: A sewer basket and its support are to be positioned at any selected level within a vertical sewer pipe having an interior surface and an opening, of reduced size or not, at street level. The basket support is secured to the interior surface of the sewer pipe to receive the basket that includes a plurality of filter units adjacently and releasably resting on the basket support. Each filter unit is so sized as to get through the sewer opening while being in a substantially horizontal orientation. Each filter unit includes a frame, a filter screen secured to and extending across the frame, and a handle device accessible from the pipe opening to properly position, place and retrieve the unit on and from the basket support respectively. The basket support includes an intermediate support having a generally flat lattice shape that abuttingly rests thereon and that abuttingly supports the filter units.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a plastic two-piece filter restraint housing 38 having a spring 32 within each two post portion of the device which spring is held therein when the portions of the restraint are joined together. The housing 38 utilizes four pivotal end tabs 16 that are removable, pivotal, circular wedge angled supports 16 or optional straight wedge shaped supports 40 that will accommodate the standard circular or square coffee filter holder assembly 20. The filter device of the present invention keeps a coffee filter from collapsing while brewing automatic drip coffee by compressing the tabs 16 on the device, inserting them inside the coffee filter 18 and holder assembly 20 and then releasing the tabs 16 of the device so that they will retain the filter 18 firmly in position. The interchangeable tabs 16, 40 will accommodate a circular or square type filter assembly.

Abstract: The sewer basket is to be positioned at any selected level within a vertical sewer pipe having an interior surface and an opening at street level without in any way modifying the same. A basket support is provided comprising an expandable support for extending entirely around the interior surface of the sewer pipe and having at least one pair of opposite spaced free ends that define inturned ears through which a bolt extends and the ears are spread apart by nuts screwed on the bolt. For a sewer pipe of circular cross-section, the basket frame and the support frame are both of circular shape, the expandable frame having a single pair of spaced ears with a single bolt extending through the ears. For sewer pipes of quadrilateral shape, both the basket and the support frame are similarly quadrilateral, the support frame being made of two U-shaped sections each having opposite free ends defined by inturned ears and a bolt with nuts extending through each pair of ears.

Abstract: A catch basin insert or filter is supported in an open type curb inlet storm drain found on streets and in parking lots. Catch basin filters and inserts are designed to collect coarse sediments, oil, grease and debris from storm water runoff. Such filters normally require support on all four sides of a grate using the weight of the grate. A loop and rod attaches one or more sides of a filter or insert inside a curb inlet storm sewer vault instead of using the weight of the grate.

Abstract: An adjustable filter assembly for a variety of filtration applications. The adjustable filter assembly includes a fixed-size filter medium and frame and an adjustable molding for adjustably applying said filter assembly in applications having widely varying dimensions. The filter assembly can take a variety of shapes and sizes so that any vent may be adequately fitted and filtered. The adjustability of the assembly is accomplished by the molding having at least one adjustable joint enabling the molding to be continuously adjusted from an unextended position through to a fully extended position. In the unextended position, the outside edge of the molding coincides with the perimeter of the filter media and the inner edge of the molding defines a minimum exposed area for the filter medium. In the fully extended position, the inner edge of the molding coincides with the perimeter of the filter media and the outside edge of the molding extends outwardly significantly beyond the perimeter of the filter media.

Abstract: The present invention involves a grinder/brewer coffee beverage dispensing apparatus having a pair of basket support arms with front end portions adapted to grasp beverage baskets and a configuration essentially complimentary to the circular shapes of beverage baskets. The arms are pivotally mounted for simultaneous horizontal and vertical movement with respect to the frame of the beverage dispensing apparatus, permitting the arms to graps baskets having varying flange widths and diameters.

Abstract: A filter system for insertion and assembly in a storm drain collection box. The filter includes a frame having a removable back and legs for easy assembly in the storm drain collection box. The frame includes a bed portion which is telescopic so as to be expandable to accommodate the width of the collection box. A sheet of filter medium is placed on the filter bed and back, and the filter frame is then urged against the front of the collection box by pneumatic cylinders. Silt and other debris collects in the filter compartment until full, and then the excess drainage water overflows unrestricted over the back of the filter frame.

Abstract: Support apparatus for coffee maker brew baskets comprises a base, an upstanding stop wall and a support plate spaced apart above the base. A coffee grinder discharge spout empties through the support plate. A pair of support arms are pivotally mounted extending horizontally subadjacent the support plate and flanking the coffee grinder discharge spout. The support arms each have a straight portion extending from the pivot point and a curved facing portion extending to a distal end on which an inwardly protruding nib is provided. The support arms are linked for co-pivoting separational movement and are spring biased together. Brew baskets inserted between the support arms are held under the discharge spout.
